EA81 info
Can't help with the carb, I'm about to find that out myself. The crank pulley is held on with a normal right hand thread. My impact wouldn't break it loose. I bolted a 10 foot chunk of unistrut to the flywheel, 'cause that's what I had, and used a long cheater on my 1/2 inch breaker bar. Bill

Need a little advice
I'm thinking, Go ahead and replace the windshield now. Its not the work of replacing the dash which would slow me down right now. It's obtaining a non cracked one in Podunk Oklahoma. Besides, now I have two of you guys to cuss next summer when I'm replacing it in 110 degree heat. :-p:-p

Brand New Horn Not Working
The only problem with modules is that the manufacturers don't feel it necessary to provide a diagram or explanation of what's inside. I may not get to my Brat this weekend, because my DD Chevy Metro is having headlight issues (the dims just go off by themselves while driving) Pretty simple circuit except for the Daytime running light module. Lots of inputs, E brake, Alternator, lights on, dimmer, ... The Wiring diagram just shows it as a box with lots of wires. Bill

What Have You Done to your Soobie lately? (Please post in here and keep it going)
Used to have a 12,000 pound Warn set up like that on an F250. Was all I could do to move it from one end of the truck to the other. It would get me out of trouble, but would destroy my battery pretty quick. Bill

Need a little advice
AS you remember my 87 Brat has a slight windshield problem I don't feel comfortable with replacing it myself, and was just going to pay the glass place. I also have a huge crack in my vinyl dash and was just going to cover it with one of those carpet things. Now my quandry. I have just bypassed my heater because of a wet floor. If the worst is true and I have to replace the heater core, is my course of action to remove the windshield, and replace the dash while replacing the core. WYAIT!! kind of stuff. Are "up north" dashes still flexible enough to ship. Replacing the dash will probably sink my hopes of getting this on the road this winter, but I know I will regret half assed measures later on. Advice? Encouragement? I will know more after I investigate my coolant leak this weekend Bill

Brazing the radiator
Oh, and I spent 35 years with a soldering iron in my hand. You probably won't be able to get your surfaces clean enough to hold without disassembling them and cleaning the whole thing, then use some silver solder and the best flux you can find. Bill

Brazing the radiator
Just went through this with my 87 Brat. When it was time to replace the radiator I discovered that the top mount was missing completely. Ordered this http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=272007. One thing to be aware of, the little cap from my Brat doesn't fit this radiator. The bigger cap from my 4.9 liter 1995 Ford pickup does. Bill

General Subaru noob dumb questions
PadreScout pardon the hijack, but this kind of applies. Guys, are the EJ22's all automatic seatbelt, or are the 95 and 96 manual? Bill

Tires ?????
okie bill replied to KIX's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHere's a thought. One time Sears sold my friend four out of round tires, then charged him ten dollars each to grind off good tread to make them round. I don't know if this kind of excellent service is still available or not. Bill

Oh, this is a tough call.
I can see you're not getting the answers you are looking for, but I am really impressed that it didn't even cross your mind to sell either bike. Bill

EA81 front hub 6-lug conversion
Gadberry, Sorry I'm no help with your question. We are kind of neighbors. I live near the Tenkiller Ferry dam, and even though it's a hundred miles, that dealer in Fayetteville is the 2nd closest to me. Do you have anything good or bad to say about them? Thanks for your time. Bill

What Have You Done to your Soobie lately? (Please post in here and keep it going)
TundraBrat, Really cool pic. I want to try that with an EA81 someday. One question, I can tell you have everything in order so you know where it came from. How do you maintain that order while cleaning? Do you clean one part at a time? The only thing I needed to keep in order was my valve train, and I didn't have to worry about that, someone had already mixed everything up for me.

Need BRAT help
Sorry. It's an 87 Brat. UBER I looked at your pic for about 20 minutes before posting. Thanks again for all the pics. So there should be a "U" shaped piece brazed? to the top of my radiator? A new plastic radiator probably won't cost much more than repairing what I have, and without that piece it probably isn't repairable anyway. So, looks like I'm waiting on parts again.

Need BRAT help
Question is am I missing part of the radiator or a piece of sheet metal. No place to fasten the top of the radiator or the fan. The inlet on this is cracked. I was going to have it repaired, boiled out and tested, but if part of it is missing I may just go for a new one. Thanks Bill

My 1985 Brat
Thanks for the pics. They have been a big help with assembling a motor that I've never seen before. Also, what is that brass colored sensor looking thing just to the left of your crank pulley. My motor doesn't have one. Bill

Is this an accepted practice ??
Thanks folks. Hadn't thought about leaks. I think what I will do is replace everything which isn't pretty new and flexible. I still like the Okiefied PVC coupler out of someones double wide. I may keep it, then do the first few heat cycles with no antifreeze, and watch under my dash really closely. GD, having owned GM products all my life, it's hard to imagine factory engineers spending any extra money (two couplers and four hose clamps) if it weren't absolutely necessary for the construction process. Any idea why they did it this way? Bill

Is this an accepted practice ??
Remember my '87 Brat came with the motor in the bed of the truck. I'm at the point where I'm hooking up coolant lines, and I've been looking at this since before I put the motor back in. I can see where this might keep from straining the heater core while removing lines. I also think it might be just lazy. Also since they've been cut and spliced at least once, I guess this isn't the first time the motor has been out.

My 1985 Brat
My Brat is from CA and OK so has no rust, but I've lived where cars rust, and if you have titles for those, please don't destroy them. They look too solid. Bill

Anybody close to Oklahoma
Was afrid of that. Rumor is that the only Brat in town just changed hands for $7,000.00. Everyone thinks their junk is priceless. Sorry Bill

Anybody close to Oklahoma
I'll help if I can afford to, but I'm pretty sure they would rather sell parts than the whole car. You may not even want to pay their price for the motor. Check it out. Let me know. Bill
