CA emissions on 2002 outback
SubieTrav replied to frank319's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe emission sticker under the hood should say either CA (50 states) or Federal (49 states). It shouldn't make a differance if the converter is for federal and put on a CA car.

98 2.2 conversion failed emissions, no CEL, running fine
SubieTrav replied to lmdew's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXUsually with high NOx, there is a problem with the EGR, or catalytic converter, or high combustion temperature (overheating, running lean, vacuum leak). A high CO reading is a restriction of air mixing with the fuel, check air filter, and sensors dealing with air fuel, MAP OR MAF, o2, ECT, TPS. Those numbers are pretty high, it would take more than just dumping 10oz of acetone in the tank to pass.

Denver Emissions 2.5 to 2.2 friendly testers
SubieTrav replied to lmdew's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI don't think it will matter which location you go to. What does matter is the attitude of the person doing the testing. I remember reading a thread on AWDPirates about someone failing twice with his WRX or STI, because of the person doing the testing. I don't think most of them will know the defferance between a 2.2 and a 2.5. They just plug in the OBDll, run it on the rollers with the sniffer up the pipe. I've passed several times with the check engine light on.

92 Legacy ABS Code 9
SubieTrav replied to SubieTrav's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHate to say it but I didn't recheck the codes when I got home. I had already turned the car off before remembering to check. I'll be running errands tomorrow and hopefully will think to check for codes.

92 Legacy ABS Code 9
SubieTrav replied to SubieTrav's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI finally went to work on this and discovered there wasn't a relay plugged into the ABS motor. I got a relay from the junk yard, now when I drive, the ABS kicks in everytime when I'm nearly stopped. It does this for up to driving about 3 miles, then the light comes on and the ABS doesn't work.

92 Legacy ABS Code 9
SubieTrav replied to SubieTrav's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe car itself runs and drives, just no noise at all from the ABS motor when I unplugged it. I did some searching online and found a PDF for Legacy and SVX abs system.

92 Legacy ABS Code 9
SubieTrav replied to SubieTrav's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIt has never worked the 4 years I've owned it. I just went out and unplugged the large round connector at the ABS pump and turned the key and nothing. So would the whole pump need to be replaced or can I just replace the motor.

Interior cleaning. Carpets and seats
SubieTrav replied to Rpm90001's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWoolite or the generic works great for cleaning interiors. For tougher stains, Folex, or Crud Cutter works great. Both can be found at Wal Mart, Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Yesterday I was cleaning the interior of my 92 Legacy wagon and found gear oil spilled on the rear seat and the carpet in the cargo area. I took the seats and carpet out and put them in the back of my Outback and went to the car wash down the street. They look fantastic now.

Extended warranty? Yay or nay?
SubieTrav replied to ehrengraff's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXDo you have to purchase the warrenty at the time you purchase the vehicle? Sometimes they allow you to wait till the existing warrenty is about to expire before purchasing the extended. If you can wait with buying the estended warrenty, it might not be a bad idea to wait and then at a later time decide if you think it is worth it.

err code 55 showing on dash, ABS light on ?
SubieTrav replied to gritle's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAre you sure you don't have a error ss code. Check your obdll codes to see if you have a PO500. Might be a bad wheel speed sensor.
