when you have the front struts off you cannot slide the threaded sleeve onto the bottom perch because there's is a ring of metal that is bigger diameter than the sleeve. that ring is right in the area of where the rod enters the strut. not a big deal. just a little grinding

you could bend the arms to apply more pressure against the window. for high speeds you can buy little deflectors that go on your wiper arms to flow air "over" them at faster speeds

7.5-8 are general widths on 17's. i can tell you right now that 215 will be your limit.

i would not recomend 18".. your tires would just be like rubber bands+18"s weigh more! i would stick with 17"s or .... ALWAYS check the offset when buying rims 48mm-55mm. i have seen alot of places sell rims that fit a subaru however the offset is in the 30mm range.
