  1. My opinion to you would be: If you don't mind spending the 1K on the headgasket then I would have them do the timing belt, waterpump, oil pump seals, cam and crank seals while they are under the hood. This is just me....
  2. I have a 90 wagon with the 2.2 and 240K on the clock. Runs like a scalded cat. I wish I had a driveway full of 2.2 powered vehicles.
  3. Once you remove the screw and pop the rivits loose you simply pull up on the panel so that you clear it of the window ledge. Once this is done you can take pliers and remove the rods going to the lock and handle. There will be little colored colars on the rods at the lock and handle, you simply give them a push off the rod and the rod will slide out. You'll see it and figure it out. I have faith in you.
  4. Nice. I think the ORlando meet on the 15th of Jan will be pretty tame but I would like to have a meet in the future on the beach at Daytona if possible. That would be great for pictures.
  5. If my memory serves me correctly there are 3 scres in the arm rest on the door that holds it snug to the door and the rest are the push tabs. There is a tool you can buy so that you do not mess up the rivits but I use an old pair of cheap wire crimper (the kind you find at wally world with 300 connectors) wraped in electric tape. I just open the jaws, slide it around the rivit, give the handle a small squeeze and pull or push forward. Works everytime. Hope this helps.
  6. If my memory serves me correct there is only one O-ring on the back side of the pump. I was lazy when re-installing my oil pump so I just put super grey on top of the o-ring and put it back on. Be sure to tigher the 3 screws on the back of the oil pump as they back out over time. Scange out the oil seal on the front of the oil pump too. Very important. I have never done a head gasket (nor have I needed to thank god) so I am not in the position to speak on the matter. When I watch The horsepower block on spike TV I always see them sticking on dry. Some use cork, some use copper...some use both stacked....I guess it is application specific. I hope you nor I ever have to replace a headgasket.

  9. I don't recall if you said you had an auto or manual tranny. Either way there is plug (drain) on the transmission (bottom) that will allow you to drian the fluid. It is filled thru the dipstick tube. While you are down there you might want to go ahead and change the tranny filter. Who knows when it was done last. The oil pan and filter are right there too....hint hint.
  10. I purchased a direct fit O2 sensor from a guy on ebay and I haven't had a single problem with it. I paid $60.00 plus $5.00 shipping. As long as it is a plug and play module I would buy the bosch online.
  11. If you use a quality sealent such as super grey it is just cheap insurance. The metal gasket is fine and dandy but everyone knows a little extra won't hurt. No matter what kind of gasket I am using I always use some some form of Permatex product with said gasket.
  12. After changing the oil I remove the cooling fans and the put a socket on the crank and turn it over a couple hundred times. Then I go and stick needdles in my eyes for being so stupid. I just fill the filter and pan and then fire it up. The split second it takes for the system to prime shouldn't harm it. I don't know if anyone else does this but I remove the 2 plugs in the oil pump when changing the oil so I get more out.
  13. My guess is speedo. If you are realy worried about it you could take it to the dealer and have them fix it for you....or at least tell you what you want to hear.
  14. From what I was told about the 2.2's it is highly reccomended that you replace the TB every 60K. Just a Rule of thumb. It's cheap insurance if you think about it.
  15. Start saving those pennies and either get a mustang Cobra R, Vette C6, Viper, dodge ram srt10...... or the STi. Happy trails to you.
  16. I used the ultra grey to do my oil pump and have gone many thousand miles with no problems. It is safe to say that it would be safe for your water pump as well. Greg
  17. I bought the car for $300.00 It looks really nice and has a set of brand new 16inch very wide tires on it. Rims and tires are worth what I payed for the car.
  18. Worse comes to worse...get one of those gooseneck map lights that mounts in your 12volt outlet (smoking is bad) and angle it where you need it. Don't have an outlet there? Install one..... In a pinch....
  19. I just purchased a 1993 Ford probe GT with 68K on it but the tranny is reeeeaaalllyyy on it's way out. I find this to be sad. But wouldn't it be sweet if I could (afford to) put a WRX STi engine and tranny into it. I would put a rear-end into it but that would be way too much work. Ford Probe STi Ford Probe GTi If I did make it all wheel drive I could keep my rims all the way around because the STi and SVT use the same bolt pattern as the Probe GT.

  21. The 2JZGTE engine it the twin turbo six-cylinder. IT is the one found in the Supra. I think a Twin Turbo Supra would smoke a single turbo eclipse on any day of the week..
  22. Speaking of great deals... I just bought a 1993 Ford probe GT with 68K miles on it for #300.00 at a charity auction. It just keeps getting better...
