  1. got an email from the shop today.. been taking to abe at AK auto back and forth for close to a week now. this place seems really honest and fair with their work. i will attach the final estimate for the 5+ days of work that two techs have been working on. turns out to be an electrial problem they have been trying to find and fix *note the oil change was added in incorrectly i get my car back tomorrow... woot for ac!!
  2. has anyone worked with them before?? you have an ex$pen$ive taste there nipper lol
  3. cars in the shop at the moment... thanks to jayhawkroy i used his listed places and cartalk.com to find a mechanic in my area with a decent review. ill post an update on what happens, should get a call tomorrow
  4. try one of those adjusting pivoting heads that you can use... i dont know the exact name of it but i use my dads... it tilts so i can bend it in perfectly for the drivers side plugs, they are a pain
  5. 2600 is alot for almost any svx esp for one with 200k on the odo. i have been shopping for svx's for a while now and without any info on year, etc etc it seems about right
  6. i really really appreciate all this help... the hotwire thing i havent heard of before and would like to try that if simple. but arent really sure how to go about it.. i turned on the defroster and still the compressor did not turn and there was the hot air, even if set to cold. i have even checked the pressure with one of those checkers that come with the r134a cans, and it is in the yellow (one away from the red which is overpressurized)
  7. well from what i have been told there is a problem with elec. i turn the ac on, the compressor does not turn and hot air comes out. ive had it checked at a shop and they said mechanically everything looked fine. i checked the fuses and relays but to no sucsess
  8. i have had two places say no to trying to find my ac electrical problem. i have been lucky that they all were free of charge checks. but what kinda prices can i expect to have someone go through the trouble of finding out what the problem is. with the heat the way it is around here im going crazy, and hope that i dont get milked for that reason.
  9. well i just got back from the whole thing... 199.96 with tax for mounting of all tires, inflation with nitrogen, and alignment. i was show that the front right was pretty hard to get into spec with the alignment numbers (apparently outer tie rod is frozen and they said that next time i get an alignment i will def have to get it replaced). i feel that this is money pretty well spent. they price matched tireracks listing of mounting of each tire to $25 instead of their $30. saved 20 dollars woot!
  10. i have heard good things about this place in the northern va area only called craven tire and auto. they got about 7 stores in the area and use the gsp9700 alignment machine which is suppose to be one of the greatest out there. ( http://www.gsp9700.com ) they also use nitrogen in tires instead of oxygen. to the point, i just purchased the bridgestone re960as pole position from tirerack and was pretty sure about getting everything done with them and called for some prices. its 30 a tire to mount and balance, and 80 to align the car. sound worth it?
  11. yeah i ran my antenna and is sitting on the trunk in front of the third brake light on my car.. ran the wire through trunk, next to rear seats, down the left side of the car and up through to my middle console area. my xm sits in the console when not using it so it doesnt scream out COME STEAL ME!!.. while i was at it, i ran a cable for my ipod to my stereo
  12. my bad with the brand mix up.. it was late and honda was on my mind apparently.. but all critisim aside, i wish you luck on your new car
  13. i love my speed bleeders... one person is all you need and the price isnt too bad
  14. ive been thinking about a paint job for my car for years now... are you keeping the color the same or changing it? and what state do you live in...
  15. how likely is it for an ac relay (in box under hood) to go bad?? and do you just check with a meter? NOTE... i havent gotten my ac fixed yet..
  16. open the hood and check to see if the compressor is turning and that the belt is running
  17. you will not hear bad reviews about the pirelli nero m&s.... it has a great tread for summer and is pretty good in winter as well
  18. that is a very shinny impreza.. and the wiper looks good too. we all know we could use one of those
  19. repairing cars looks like childs play compared to the stuff that guy is doing.. after all if you mess up your car the worst that can happen is your stuck on the side of the road.. if you mess up this stuff, you drop from the sky
