How can I check to see if my Starter is bad?
If the problem is not the battery then it can be the starter. As these starters get older the solenoid contacts wear down, so the starter can function intermittently. Other possibilities are ignition switch wear, park/neutral or clutch switch wear. Solutions include replacing contacts, adding a relay to compensate for ignition switch wear or adding a start button to bypass park/neutral or clutch switch. Lots of discussion in this forum from folks who have done these repairs. I did the first two for my loyale when the problem started.

85 gl won't start
A vacuum leak somewhere may be the problem. Some test info can be found here: https://www.linnbenton.edu/auto/perform/no_start.html

85 gl won't start

1984 bucking and kicking cutting out
I did a quick search of this forum for code 33 because I know nothing about it. I found this which may help: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/129661-cut-out-problem/?hl=%26quot%3Bcode+33%26quot%3B&do=findComment&comment=1102545 If you do the same search you will find several topics have been posted. Perhaps one which is similar to your own.

my newly acquired 1990 loyale 2wd
Mods depend on your intended usage. Chances are if it hasn't been driven much it also hasn't gotten a lot of maintenance. For openers I would go through and change all the fluids, check all the belts, hoses, plugs, wires, brakes. Then drive it for a while and see what you like or don't like and shop around for prices on mods.

1989 loyale n/a no spark
My memory is weak, but I think there are posts in this forum about distributor wires and the colors. See this link for partial discussion. There are likely more posts on the subject. http://www.ultimates...e/#entry1246915 hope this helps

93 loyale lack of power and hesitation
If pressing the accelerator causes power problems then it could be a fuel delivery problem. Check the fuel filter and the fuel pump pressure. Another possibility is a clogged exhaust system. Rap on the catalytic converter. If you hear stuff rattling inside, it's done.

Intermittent check engine light issue
I would verify you have the correct axle because a wrong axle can still fit. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/73038-axle-replacement-for-ea-series-cars/page-2?do=findComment&comment=629117

Intermittent check engine light issue
I did get the O2 code.. If not the O2 sensor then the problem may be similar, a sensor starting to fail.

Intermittent check engine light issue
I had this problem. Eventually the light came on and stayed on. Turned out to be the oxygen sensor.

1992 Loyale wont start after rebuild
Is there spark at the plugs ?
-
intermittant spark
If the coil tested ok, then check the distributor cap for hairline cracks. You may also have a faulty ignition switch.
-
intermittant spark
sounds like a possible grounding problem but you should take the coil in and have it tested.
-
intermittant spark
sounds very much like a grounding problem.

EA82 engine noise video
Maybe the water pump going out - that would also be a rotational bearing type noise. If you can safely listen to the pump with your stethoscope, it would be worth ruling it out. --Never mind, you posted your update while I was watching the video .. Glad you found it.
