  1. Question??? How many times can you say drop off in one sentence??
  2. Cool Paul...just give me a time Sat to come down to help you move stuff around. Still not sure about the races...what you think about making it a possible first date?? May even be able to stop down tomorrow night to help..I will call you tomorrow afternoon. Got to make room for that new sweetbaby of yours.
  3. Hey Paul..Call me when you know when Pat is about to arrive there..I dont care if its Monday (I need a good excuse to take off work early:grin: ). Also give me a buzz if you have any work to do around the shop this weekend..I think I am pretty much free ( But that is tentative..I might have met someone..still is working up enough nerve to make phone calls)Plus I might swing down the road and go see the Arenacross. Anyway..I want to see the 73!!!!! You lucky ba----d! And send Pat back with the dreamcatcher.
  4. If Pat wants to head alittle north/west of Pauls (40-45 minutes cause most of its back roads) I can at the least let him get a shower. If I had another room (ya'll know how small studio apts are...well at least here in CT,ppl have closets bigger)I would gladly give him a place to crash. Its so easy to get back on the highway from here considering you can pretty much see the on ramp from my house.(for those wondering ..Paul is off of 95 ..I am off of 84). But the offer still stands for a hot shower and some food.
  5. Thanks for the updates guys...I have been following the journeys of Waldo on my map. I just wish him a safe trip.Looking forward to seeing him when he reaches the Right Coast:grin:
  6. I actually posted this Friday afternoon..guess he didnt notice it:( . Too late tonight but maybe tomorrow after the Anahiem Supercross race (weehoo!!! Ricky vs Bubba vs Reed vs Windham vs Pastrana vs McGrath race of a lifetime!). Check your pool in Meet and Greet I donated something to it.
  7. Hey Paul I will donate the Official Subaru Dreamcatcher (the one I made with your stolen emblem:brow: ) to the person who gets Pat right on the nose for when he reaches your place..If no one is right on it will go to Pat for his loyalety (little play on spelling there). How does that sound?
  8. I just wanted to say..I am wishing you a safe journey on your long haul here to the East Coast. May the Weather Gods bless you with good traveling conditions. Even though you are not bringing anything for me I will be glad to see you when you arrive here. Take Care and Drive Safe!
  9. Krag..I am new to CT so how far are your from Danbury or Milford?? I could look at it for you want either at my place or if you want to stop at our welcoming Pat from Washington party in Milford. I can either tell you the best way to fix it cheap or evan possible do it for you..I have everything to do it.
  10. I will be going this year...will be kinda nice being back in my home town. I grew up right outside of Carlise and know my way around there extremely well. I can point everyone to some good eating spots too (Georges Subs!) I will send you my info as soon as I get it and if there is anything I can do to help you out please feel free to contact me. And mattocs...dont feel bad..I am going to be bringing my stock 92 Loyale wagon...moosens told me Bucky is worthy so he is going.
  11. You can either cut out the rusted area and pop-rivet some new sheet metal (Home Depot super cheap and bends easy) then cover the rivits with a thin coat of bondo and repaint. Or go to the auto store and get fiberglass mesh sheeting. it will stick with the bondo. Good quick and easy repair. Thats the oly way I can explain it without seeing how bad it is ( I am a bodywork kinda gal)
  12. The story of how Bucky got his name is kinda wierd. Started with my Toyota truck..was called Finiky Fikus named after a real character we knew, a goofy finiky guy.My truck was aweful..worst vehicle I owned next to my Taurus. When the truck died in VA with a broken crank it wasnt worth fixing so I left it there to finish rusting in pieces (it was an 82 BTW). I had been drooling over this white Loyale wagon for 3 months prior, saying I wanted that for my winter car but couldnt afford it ($1295 on the window). Well I called the dealer up and asked what the best he could do on it since I was carless. He remembered me (bought 2 other cars from him in the past...one being my Justy) and gave me the frequent customer discount:grin: Got this white Loyale for $600...Got this baby home and my friend said it since it replaced Fikus it should be still named after the original person who's first name was Bucky.I didnt like it at first but it just stuck.Within a week everyone was calling it Bucky (not cause it ran rough or bucked and carried on..cause he ran sweet from day 1). So thats ,in a nutshell, how mine got its name.
  13. Go For It!! The AC is fixable..I happen to know where a compressor for one is. Plus It might just need a recharge. Some of us would kill for an old Suby like that. Just keep up with the rust!
  14. Mary, Kinda off topic a hair here..but I should be heading down to Pauls tonight or tomorrow to help pull the interior from the XT for NorthWet.Do you need anything from him I need to remind him about?? And you wil be getting that Brat worked out sooner than you think..then what are you going to do to occupy your time?? humm??
  15. I know nothing about Gen 1s but my first guess would be the fuel pump having a hissy. Just keep remembering Mary...Its beautiful and will be running like a champ soon...And maybe it just wanted to annoy Tim alittle more..knowing his feelings towards it
  16. Check your breather hoses too for clogging..my 88 GL did that too and the PVC was fine I had a clogged line on the right side
  17. HLA= Hydrolic Lash Adjusters Next oil change just toss in some Sea Foam or Marvels Mystery Oil...quieted mine down a good bit..and I have had my Loyale for about a year and a half now with that wonderful noise..MMO has been in my system now for about a month and has done wonders
  18. Copy Cat I have an EA82 sitting in my kitchen ..needs head gaskets..for the same reason
  19. microracer wrote:Bucky- thanks for the tips. How hard are timing belts to change? And based on your post it may be one of those things I have to get used to. I pulled the trans stick and the fluid looks good (pale red) and does not have a burned smell. It is also up to correct level. From what I have experienced timing belts are easy (I have a spare motor I use to practice on.) I think it will take more time moving everything out of the way than it will be to do the actual swap. I happened to do them on my spare motor in about a half hour but I didn't have to move anything around. All my Soobs have been 5 spds so I know nothing about the AT trannys...but on the plus all mine have been FWD. Great in the snow I just run snow treads on the front in the winter. Tip I have been told by these folks here is...when you change timing belts do the water pump gasket and the oil pump gasket along with cam seals. These EA82 love to leak oil from the cam seals and they love to suck in the oil pump gasket (looks like mickey mouse and is refered too as the mickey mouse gasket)They also, as the mileage racks up, tend to develope what we so lovingly call the Tick of Death (TOD) dont let the name scare you they will run forever with the lifters ticking.Usually cause by sucked in oil pump gasket, or dirty oil gumming up the HLAs. Frequent oil changes and some Sea Foam or Marvels Mystery Oil from time to time helps with this..MMO has worked wonders for mine. Any questions just ask..these ppl are extremely knowledgeable....I can help alittle but I am still in "training" Good Luck
  20. Welcome to the board! I have a 92 Loyale 5 Spd. Mine has had an aweful vibe (more like a shake) since the day I bought it..over a year and a half ago.Granted Bucky has alot more miles on him 185,000. I have tried about everything new axle shafts, tires, rebalencing the tires,alignment...everything short of replacing the struts. My 88 GL wagon had the same problem. I am starting to think its just something about the car. He also has a small shake at idle (feels something like a misfire) but thats coming from a bad EGR sylinoid and a weak motor mount. Geesh..87,000 miles??? Your Loyale isnt even broken in yet!! Just to let you know..keep your oil clean change the timing belts and keep up with rust and you will have many many more years with that car....they are quirkie (crazy little stuff goes wrong) but good cars. I love them. I paid $600 for mine and all I have done to it was an axle shaft, exhaust, and some ignition work in the 25,000 miles I have put on him. They like to leak oil also. This one and my 88 GL wagon (if you dont know they are basically the same thing) were my most trouble free, dependable cars I have owned. Good Luck and enjoy your Loyale
  21. Thanks..and you thought I was crazy for putting it in my kitchen next to my puter:grin: ..see there was a method to my madness! Its easier to have great knowledgable ppl walking you through something when you can have them "right there" while you are doing it. Maybe next meeting of the First Subaru Church gathering..if it isnt too cold and its earlier in the day I can try and do Bucky's belts and oil pump seal...I still dont feel confident enough to try it on him without someone else around in case I screw up. Belts seem easy but I wont be able to tell if I did it right on this motor till the first time I go to start it.
  22. Thanks Guys!! Got them off!! I had bajavwsoobnut in IM too..ended up tossing the timing belts back on and wedging a screwdriver in the faceplate..the bolts cam off nicely then. And I forgot about the non-interference motor thing...DER!!! Still have bad memories of bending a valve in my Honda XR dirtbike..$700 later I had it fixed. Dont have valve tools or that knowledge yet..so I left it to those who knew. Actually this is the first time pulling heads off a water cooled system..any other pointers would be greatly appreciated.. But what I have already learned today is invaluable...I know completely understand the sucking in of the mickey mouse gasket and that little spot where the casting of the block comes together..and timing belts are CAKE!! Now I can't wait to change them on Bucky..knowing it wont be as easy since his motor is still inside along with all the stuff in the way. Thanks a Ton you all are the best!!!!
  23. LOL..this little project has my X Mas list growing by the minute..Ready to go to Sears for an electric Impact gun...22 mm socket..1/2 drive..all the stuff little girls want for X mas..power tools LOL
  24. So would I want to put the timing belt system back on??The tentioners have been removed and the whole front of the motor is open now. Should I have tried to loosen the bolts on the cam before removing the belts?? If so at least it will give me some practice on putting on new belts huh??
