  1. I called the guy and left a message that if it falls through again to Please call me...and made him an offer. He also posted that he will hold the car for 2 weeks if payment is made in full. Ummm..Now you tell me about the Mac 'n Cheese...thats what I been pretty much living off of since I moved here in April.
  2. I know you were kidding:grin:. I just called the seller and left a message that if it falls through again to call me that I am very interested in it and "this" is what I can afford but that I am good for it.My feedback on ebay is perfect. So maybe there is still a shot for it. I just dont want anyone else from the board who actually might be interested in it to not try and get it because of another board member wanting it. I just want to see it get a good home.
  3. Sorry for no linky..I was on my way out the door for work when I posted that. Go for it!! I dont have the money anymore for it..along with my luck is terrible..the only things I have ever won on Ebay were Buy It Nows.
  4. As most ya'll know I was heartbroken when the 83 coupe I was bidding on lost due to me being outbid by a person who outbid a bunch of others on other Soobs and stuff....Well the coupe is back on ebay due to that bidder being a dead beat.Shame is I already spent the money I had for it on my bills. Plus its already at what I was able to spend for it. Anyway ..after work I am going to call the seller and tell him if the deal falls through again to contact me and I will find SOME way of getting it. I just posted this for others who were bidding on stuff against that other bidder to check and see if the sellers put the stuff back up.
  5. I personally like calling it the tick of death...because I get sick and tired of trying to explain it to non-soob ppl. If I had a dime for every time I was told to put some oil in my car I would have enough to......maybe fix it:grin: So now when someone says something about it I just call it the ToD and chuckle to myself. I mean I was edgy at first cause with anything else this would be a major problem...then thanks to this board..I learned different. I mean I had an 88 GL that didnt do this and my 90 Justy didnt either so I knew nothing about this problem till I got this one. But thats just my opinion..But I can understand fully your point.
  6. Here is a guestion about using the Mystery oil...If you run this stuff in a leaky leaky...wont it make the leaks worse?? I know as a fact my motor is gummed up..I have seen it.I have held off using this to keep my leaks under control until I get around to doing the gasket changes.I am also afraid to run a heavier wieght oil for the same reasons...gummed up motor..dont want to clog up any of the small ports. Its getting to the point I am about to get a custom plate for my car saying TKOFDTH.
  7. I know how exactly how you feel...but I agree with Gary. My Loyale has a nice long list of repairs it is in need of...but I just cant afford them all right now. But I asked myself these few questions: Has my car ever let me sit somewhere? No. Can I afford another car? No. If I could, could I guarentee that it will be better than what I have? No. Leaky gaskets on a Loyale is the norm....most of us just learn to live with them until they get way to bad or we have another repair to do that is in the general location of the ones leaking. I also feel Gary has a point with the trustworthy mechanics.I know from first hand experience that many of them try and tell you there are repairs needed that are not.Being female...I blow them out of the water when I get in their face and tell them they are wrong...I know my car pretty much inside and out been working on them since I was a little kid...I dont know no where close to everything but I know enough and am always wanting to learn more.Thats the key...know your car...know how it works ...and whats common to break etc. This board is great for that..even if you just lurk around you learn something new everytime you come here. I see you live in NC so its not all that cold there like it is in here in NE. When you have a repair you want to tackle..get a few friends together..a manual...(and if you can, someone who knows their way around a soob) and make a good time day out of it. These cars are very easy to work on. I dont have a garage to work in and have done many repairs outside...you feel good about yourself when its done. I call these repair moments ...bonding...with your soob. Like I said I know how you feel..and right now I am still overwhelmed with things that need done on my Loyale..timing belts, water pump, tick of death..oil pump, leaky leaky leaky, funny brake shutter, new clutch, motor mounts, possessed heater controls, and who knows what else...but I absolutly love my car..its not fast, its not 4WD..its not the best soob had to offer..but it always gets me to where I have to go. Ok I spewed enough tis morning...back to my coffee
  8. I used to own and run an auto detail shop awhile back (back in 96) and we used to use those cheapy sticky lint roller things. The ones that you can keep pealing back.Went pretty fast with one of those. After going over it with that we would just use the attachment from the vacuum for upholstery cause it would pick up whatever the brush loosened up. If you have a shop vac the attachment from you house vacuum should fit on it. I know all the tricks for making a car look new again (could never tell by looking at mine though:) )
  9. My question is..Is it AT or Standard? I had a very similar problem in one of my cars...wasnt a Soob though..it was my 66 Mustang. It was a problem with the AT. I didnt dig into it further because I was swapping it to a 5 speed. But it was very bizaar.
  10. Thanks archemitis...you just answered a question I was about to post..I forgot that mine doesnt like to switch from "bi level" to defrost or bi level to anything. But it will sometimes after playing with the switches enough.
  11. I didnt mention Paul because he already has a ton of stuff on the table to do.
  12. I have used QuikSteel on the cases of my air cooled Dirt bike...The patch is still there today and its been riden hard for 2 years now. That motor got pretty hot at times (Tight slow trails) ..I think it should be fine for 10 minutes. I know JB Weld is high temp too.
  13. I dont like dealers either cause half the time they dont know anything anyway. And with Soobies being alittle quirky at times makes it even more annoying. Explain the noise alittle better and exactly what Soob you have and I am sure someone here should know what it is.
  14. Here is a strange thing to try ..but mine does this...just remembered too since its getting cold out..When I first start it I dont have any dash lights or stereo...but they come on once I wiggle the key up and down. Once the car is warmed up (or its warm outside) it goes away.I have a bad contact somewhere in the ignition switch ...and its partial to the colder weather. Just a though.
  15. Niiicccceeee... I remember when my Loyale's odemeter read those numbers...seems like a long time ago:). But not as long ago as some others...Nice to see another "low" mileage one around.
  16. Bucky is all I have...he is my only car and I depend on him greatly.I cant even have him go down for a day to do a basic repair (IE timing belts...I am pushing it bad right now ..they have almost 100,000 on them). I want to keep him just as dependable as always but want him not to look so ordinary. Thats why I wanted that coupe so bad...first I was going to put Bucky down for some much needed love he needs and use the coupe. Then when my Boy was done I wanted to start on the other one and slowly (being I am completely by myself and half the time cant afford to eat) make the coupe a show piece. I was thinking on the lines for Bucky ..white wagon wheel rims with some nice old school center caps and the RX body kit and a normal wagon spoiler. Maybe alittle tinting on the windows too. And some graphics. So how hard is it going to be to come across a RX body kit???
  17. Ok...since I lost out on the coupe I guess I am going to have to do something with Bucky if I want to take him to carlisle next year.Question is..should I do some mods to him or keep him original? There really isnt anything special about him...just a plain jane FWD Loyale wagon (like you dont see them .....EVERYWHERE! ) He is a very clean car though..for NorthEastern standards...At least I think he is...Paul,LeakingOil,Brus,and Scoobadooba and Dave saw him and unless they were lying to me so not to hurt my feeling ..said he was nice too. I cant afford to do some of these terrific mods like alot of you but dont know how to make him stand out alittle more. Suggestions??? Plus...anyone know how to take care of rust around the windsheild without taking the windsheild out?? I dont want to have to buy a new one of those. ...Bucky
  18. You might want to get ahold of Moosens..he is in Milford CT and has been my saviour for parts for my Loyale.I should know what he has but I am usually too overwelmed by everything he has for the older Soobs. Moosens place isnt called The First Subaru Church of the Resurection for nothing
  19. Well..the official answer is NO..Its official...I have been outbid.Guess I can pay the phone bill now...and put that money into Bucky..Maybe I will just work on him and get him ready for the import car show next year. Very Very depressed now
  20. There is 1 day 1 hour left on the auction on Ebay for the little black 83 coupe.. And someone is now bidding against me. I am still high bidder but am getting scared. I have a bad feeling I am going to lose this little gem.I cant really even afford my proxy bid right now. I am actually scared ..very scared...if someone else gets it will they take care of it??? Oh the Horror!!
  21. I think Paul was enjoying us...I saw him laugh a few times. I think his method of "rowd control" was keeping sending us to the store;) ..we were on to you!!!. Mary I am always wound up..when I am not at work (hate my job cause my one supervisor hates me) And you know we are going to hold you to your offer of sledding on the Hummer skid plate!! I tell you what...when Shelbys new sister started last night it gave me chills.I almost wanted to cry..It was beautiful!!You could tell she was happy. And between all the goofing off..I know I learned a ton more stuff. We keep this up Melis; we will be doing frame up restorations in no time!! Ok time to sniff the candles......mmmmmmm...aaaaaaaaa
  22. Here Leezard leezard leezard!!!!! Glad you guys got home ok. I think Shelby will like her new sister. What a pretty pair. I feel sorry for those at the show next year....we gonna have them rocking! I will send you my addy later. The thought of thinking right now isnt going over too well with me..I dont want to go to work!!!Want to go back to sleep!! As for the staying clean...remember the one guy at the sushi gas mart said it was nice seeing 2 attractive ladies dirty with car goo getting stuff like transmission fluid:grin: Oh For the Love of G.....!!!!!!
  23. Went today to moosens place cause LeakingOil was bring some of the candles along and they were swapping out the trannys in her new beautiful 89 GL 3 door. Oh what a fun day. She is an absolute RIOT. But we have decided to film the adventures next time due to the fact that it was hysterical. Well...we have gotten the tranny swap finished and now they are on thier way home to PA. See Mary.....4 ppl and a 2x4 is all it takes:grin:.The only blood spilled in this journey was by poor moosens who injured himself before crashing the party. Anyway, what a wonderful sight it was to see the GL fire up and drive itself around the parking lot. I hope Melis and Dave get home safely. But I dont think moosens will allow Melis and me together anymore.....we were very bad:brow: . Oh Paul..I was wrong..I wont know till tuesday around 4 about the coupe.
  24. I have tried those in the rear on one of my old delivery wagons (Cavalier garbage car) cause it couldnt handle the load (300+ sunday newspapers). I found them to be a pain to put in and when you weren't running with a load and hit a pot hole they had a tendency to fly out.I used the adjustable spring helpers instead. They didnt ride as nice but they didnt go anywhere either.Plus you could raise or lower them easily when needed. Been thinking on getting a set for Bucky until I can put new rear shocks in him ..to get rid of the saggy rear ...you know us women dont like out rears to be saggin:brow: . Dont know how they would work on the front though..I would worry about what archemitis said.
