Found My project Car
Is it normal to feel anxious and excited over waiting to see if you are the winning bidder on a possible future project????? I keep checking the sight like 10 times now to see if it has been sold already (note owner has option to end sale at any time) or if I have been bid against. I feel like a giddy little school girl:grin: .

Congrats!!! I know how you feel now...seeing that I just bid on (fingers crossed) hopefully my new sooby and now trying to figure out how I am going to pay for it and pay the bills too!! I wish you the best of luck!

Found My project Car
The only thing I saw that would HAVE to go is the AT...I cant stand AT..never could. Give me a nice 5 speed and I am a happy camper. Now a Turbo 5speed would make me very very happy:grin:. And Mary, I happen to be on the vertically challenged list and have found that Soobs fit me best. Maybe I should just hold off and wait till exactly what I want comes along instead of settling.:-\. Just want a second one so bad!

remove radio from 1992 loyale dash
My JVC aftermarket CD player fits perfect in my 92.I got an adapter plate for it and the completed assembly looks perfect. The fun part was just getting the wiring to behind to play nice.Lucky I have small hands.

Found My project Car
Thats what I am looking for..nothing super rare but one that will make ppl do a double take when they see it. I have a thing for the boxy body style of my Loyale but want something older. Gonna watch this for a few days and see what happens with it. If it gets close to the end of the auction I might make a bid on it..then try to figure out how to get it here.

Overpriced Parts? $500+ for a heater core
A few weeks back when I was having my exhaust issues...I was quoted $489 just to replace the resinator pipe..the whole thing was quoted at $760. I felt that was just alittle steep.

a click then a surge
Yup thats what mine does when the AC cycles..thats why I never run it ..or I only use the defrost long enough to clear the windows. Mine idles a little rough cause of the EGR being bad..one of these days I will replace it.

Should I part it out or spend some $ ?
Ok ..words from an East Coaster.. I agree with many of the points the others have made. Has the car been dependable?? If the rust on the unibody isnt too bad..it can be fixed..I have done it before.Floor pan rot..easy to fix..not saying you had any.I had a friend fix a rotted frame rail on one of my old Hondas was better then new. But I have seen some that were beyond repair. I was recently having the same feelings as you when everything started to go on my Loyale. But I did the cost thing and it is better for me to fix it. I have gotten over a year of trouble free use from mine so I figured dumping some money into it..even though by the book..its more expensive to fix it than it is worth. I found some cost saving methods..using used parts...they will hold you over till you can get new ones. My exhaust is used..ask Moosens,Brus Brother and Scoobadooba ..they put it on for me. Once I can afford a second car..my future project Sub..I will put my Loyale down for a few weeks and do more of the work that is needed now. But for now I just have to fix it as it breaks. I am lucky though..for a NE car mine is pretty much rust free..and I try to keep up with it as soon as it starts showing up ( auto body class way back makes it easy for me) I love my Loyale dearly..more than any other car even my other Subs. It will be a sad sad day when it is time to let Bucky go. I hope that he will be able to help someone else out when it happens like others have for me.That way I know Bucky will live on.

Immediate Opinions Needed!
I agree with the others on going higher up. Thats always been one of my fears about sending my cars to a school..but this is the first time I heard of such a bad mess up. I would just find any way to get the Brat outta there. I can lend ya a hand in some way.Let me know...I am pretty mechanical and dont mind getting dirty and I know how to read a manual . If Paul has any parts for you that need to get there ASAP also let me know..its nothing for me to run down and pick them up from him and I can deliver...Bucky and I happen to love road trips. PM me and I will give you my email addy and phone number.

Hey, oil in the loyale
Oil in the air filter is probably PCV valve..or a clogged breather....happened to my old 88 GL..filled the air box with oil then it would start to suck it into the fuel injector resulting in a beautiful blue smoke stream...car would lose power then stall and not start for about 10 minutes. I said this on another post..you own a Loyale...they leak from everwhere imaginable..one of the joys of owning one...but my words to live by..a leaky Loyale is Not a rusty Loyale.

Cold car
I learned a trick for cleaning out the heater core a few years ago when I had my evil Taurus wagon...If flushing it doesnt work and you know for sure its the heater core and your core doesnt leak...drain all the fluid and blow it out with compressed air, reversing the flow..in through the out...then reverse and go in through the in ..after doing that a few times usually all sorts of good stuff comes out. Worked for me more than once.

PK can't contain himself anymore
:slobber: That is one beautiful car! Once again I am jealous. "listen to the voices in my head..one day you will have a sweet ride like that too..one day you will have a sweet ride like that too..and my Loyale is nice and I love it...but it needs a friend"

oil leak question
Loyales leak...just a common known fact:grin:. They leak from the valve cover gaskets, oil pan, rear main, cam seal..u name it ..they leak from it.If the leak isnt too bad alot of us just let it go until its time to pull the motor for a clutch or something. Its nothing to be super concerned about as long as it isnt pouring oil on the ground....a leaky Loyale is NOT a rusty Loyale. To replace the gaskets is easy....its a Subaru..everything is basically easy. My 92 Loyale goes through about a quart a week.I will probably replace the gaskets in the spring if my clutch holds out that long or I get a second car to drive so I can put my motor in the living room and do it all while watching TV.

Gotta have some Old School Representation....
It doesnt matter to me what it is as long as it says Subaru..if one day I win the lottery and can afford to buy a new one I will..but in my opinion they are the best car you can buy for the money..in the old cheap range. I think alot of the WRX kids can appreciate the old ones though...I pulled into a WRX show awhile back and drove up to the punkiest (I know its not a word but u know what I mean)kid there and asked where my class was.. It took him a moment plus when I said the "unrestored, high mileage, grocery go getter,go slow" class he busted out laughing and told me to park next to him and pop the hood. A few of them did come over and look at Bucky and even had kind words to say about him. I still am a firm believer...once Subaru is in your blood,it doesnt matter what it is,it is appreciated.

U Guys Are Rubbing Off on Me
Ummm... I dont exactly go for that type of lifestyle...bringing the girlfriend along.. being that I am the girl you know. . Yeah some CT ppl arent to bad Scoobadooba.Though this guy was a NYer. And believe me..I will know when the car is the right one...My Loyale was waiting for me for 5 months before I got him. I looked at him probably 10 times...he would leave the lot then come back.I wait till I get that "vibe" then I know its the right one. And yes..this darn Subaru virus is contagious....I love it!!

U Guys Are Rubbing Off on Me
Its true!! I was at the gas station down the street getting my tires remounted and balenced and a guy pulls up in an 83 wagon...a bit rusty but not beyond saving..I walked right up to him and said " If you ever want to get rid of that thing...here is my number..if price is right I want it". The guy looks at me like I am outta my mind and replies "this old thing??? why??" I told him I am looking for a project car and turns out he has another one (ok 5 of them) with a solid rust free body with a bad motor 4WD AT (eww). After talking to him for a bit he is another Sub freak.Has a ton of parts for anything 82-84. Well..not sure yet what he wants for anything but he seemed impressed with my knowledge (thanks to you guys) of the older gen cars and Subs in general. Another plus was the mechanic was showing me all the pics of his old hatch he restored .....SWEET!!! He is making me a large Subaru decal for my back window...says I need to wear it with pride...Us older Subaru nuts need to stick together. So Keep your fingers crossed the first guy with the wagon doesnt want to much and decides he wants to get rid of it.

front axle problem
Just a question..I had one of my axles replaced back in january with a used one...you mentioned the inner joint...would this shimmy, shake thing happen only at certain speeds???? Mine shakes pretty good between 40-45 and again at 70-75..I was thinking it was tire out of balance or just a bad tire since I need to replace my 2 rears (being done tomorrow). Just wondering if that axle could be bad again.

Wynn's Warranty?
Bucky92 replied to tapdancer's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX[quote name= The dealer talked me into getting an extended 2yr / 24K warranty from Wynn's. Does anyone have any experience with this provider? are they any good? will they cover a blown head gasket? or are they cowboys who cover nothing? any advice really really appreciated' date=' many thanks for taking the time to look![/quote] I had Wynns on my (EWWW) Taurus wagon...they didnt want to cover nothing! When the tranny went bad they only wanted to dish out enough to cover a JY tranny....anyone who knows Taurus' know that they have the worst trannys made. The JY tranny was $600 and they didnt want to cover the labor to put it in. I refused a used one and wanted to at least have mine rebuilt..they still would only cover $600 of the $2400 bill. As for thier rental car reimbursement..they would cover only $150 doesnt help you much when your car is in the shop for 3 weeks. I had nothing but problems with Wynns..they took forever to approve of any work also. Thats just my experience with them..others might have had better.
