New member to my Stable. Lego! New Pics pg 3
Bucky92 replied to Bucky92's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXNot much to tell...gave her a tune up and changed some fluids etc..took her for a drive and found out that the front diff is in self destruct mode. Probably next weekend we are going to start pulling her old tranny out and getting ready to install the new one...and I still need one Outback strut assembly to start her lift. Hoping to have her road worthy and Barrens ready by the end of March

Holly Got her New Shoes!
Bucky92 replied to Bucky92's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYup John ..I am going to put full on snows on my steelies..and I may need your assistance in getting me 4 new wheel monitoring system sensors. BH... I have seen SVX rims frequently for sale...but shipping might be costly... Also have you checked the SVX board or even All We'll Drive Inc ( svx specialist here on the east coast)

Holly Got her New Shoes!
Bucky92 replied to Bucky92's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI live in New Milford CT..New England..right on the CT and NY boarder...northwestern part of the state. It is really beautiful here... They history is amazing when you think about it. There are homes ( like across the street and next door) that were built in the early 1700s and some even earlier. The Center of town has actually been used in many movies...one of the most noted was the movie with Adam Sandler " Mr Deeds". Thanks for the compliment... even after owning her for over a year I still love every inch of the car. IIRC Those are 2006 Legacy rims... But I could easily be wrong. Found them on craiglist in New Jersey on a quick search..I came up with 2004 Impreza rims .

Holly Got her New Shoes!
Finally got around to putting the new rims on my Impreza...got them for $60 ..way better then the steelies with hub caps!! And I doubt many other new owners are going to want to go with an older style rim...But I really like it..Think it makes a world of difference.

Bucky92 replied to tcolar's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThat makes sence...Mine is going to the shop tomorrow morning..( they dont have any loaners available today) to have it looked at...and to have the 30K service done.

Bucky92 replied to tcolar's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWas the funny noise sounding like the starter grinding?? Cause this just happened to my 08 last night. moved it a couple feet on Sat.....went out to go to work last and nothing...beat on the starter..rocked it...nothing. Went out this morning and with alot of arguing...it started. Calling the dealer in a few.

Coupes running yet again..but choke Problem?
yup..choke is stuck wide open...and yes its an electric choke...we did move the flaps manually also. This is a freshly rebuilt Weber..not even a year old...and has next to no useable..just a couple months when I loaned it to someone till thiers was done.

Oh Snap
oops!!!! seems the exhaust rot fairies have been hard at work..had 3 cars here yesterday with exhaust problems.

Coupes running yet again..but choke Problem?
Steve ( hatchsub) stopped over yesterday with the timing light so we ( njdrsubaru and me) could harass him and Neo could do some welding on his exhaust.. He got my coupe in time but it appears now that the choke on my weber is DOA. Appears to only start with a shot of starting fluid and dont touch anything for about 5 minutes. Wierd...you could pump the gas pedal all day and it wont catch... a shot of starter fluid and vroom! go figure...have this real love/ hate thing going with that coupe. Anyway..cau you just swap out the choke on these? It also now has a bad hesitation when first giving it gas. Could something have gotten clogged up while it was sitting? Took it for a coupe spins around the block..new clutch is grabby ( soooo easy to smoke the tires....thanks bratrus!) but still doesnt catch till all the way out.... Motor is strong ( thanks subaru360!!) that little thing was ripping!!! Tires need air bad and Neo said my ball joints are toasted..its scary to drive actually. Motor runs at a solid 169.4 degrees ( love that temp gauge set up backwoodsboy installed) Still needs dash gauges. I want a digi cluster still..cause I am going to be too picky about the analog swap... I want it to be working 100% everything. Also needs new exhaust. But the coupe finally did see the light of day Sat and got to stretch his legs a wee bit. Both Neo and Steve also took him for a run.... they can varify.

93 impreza 193k miles what to look out for?
Bucky92 replied to mattri's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI had one... 93 Imp AWD 5 spd...it was a good little car 236K ..ran excellent..dependable...the main reason I sold it was because I prefer wagons..not enough cargo room for my taste with the sedans. ONly problems I had with mine were bad suspension..and a leaky gas tank. but the rest was fine ..OH!! and had a noisy throw out bearing. The little EJ18 was pretty good on gas and was alittle slack on power...but coming from an EA82 it was an improvement

What would you buy?
Bucky92 replied to guidance1's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIMO the 2.5 if maintained can be a very dependable motor..I happen to know many that have never had issues. And if not driven bad can get extremely good gas mileage.. Heck my XT6 could only do 29 on a good day. The PZEVs are nice too..really wished it would have been available on my Impreza. In 2005 Subaru supposedly fixed the dreaded 2.5 head gasket problem. I have heard of a couple cases...like maybe 2.... of failure. But you will also hear reports of the 2008/2009 WRX engine failures also..but those seem to be coming from people who abused them. Like mentioned..test drive and get what fits you...My 2008 Impreza is not only an eye catcher car..but fits me like a glove..light, quick ..and more then enough room..MUCH bigger then previous years. I let my friend drive it ( OK he steals the keys all the time njdrsubaru) and he is 6'1" and there is still a ton of leg room in the back seat. The New Forester is just an amazing creature..the reviews have been nothing but favorable The key is taking care of it..we all know that..

Bucky92 replied to guidance1's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMy 08 Impreza 5 door has more back seat leg room then my 95 Legacy wagon. IMO its very comfortable and a nice driver..Mine has been absolutely trouble free for the past year and 32K miles. It isnt uncommon for me to get 32-34 mpg with it either ( 5 spd). I drove the car from CT to FL and back without any fatigue issues or back pain...and I was running 14+ hours before stopping. But thats just my opinion..I love my Impreza ..everything about it..fits me like a glove and have no regrets what-so-ever

car wont run warm
I bad coil can cause the car to quit running. A way to check it is simple..once its warmed up and shuts off...touch the coil .. If its hot hot ..then very good chance its bad. It has been known to happen...did me. But mine would start running like dookie before it would die. would turn it off for 10 minutes and it would be fine.

photoshop request
I happen to be partial to the black and yellow thing ( hehehehehehe) considering I had my XT6 painted like a pissed off hornet
