  1. Thanks for the response and the provided link, that is great resource and has the info. I was looking for. "Any Subaru RX, XT Turbo, GL-10 Turbo (both wagon and sedan) will have rear disk brakes."
  2. I'm hoping to upgrade to rear discs on my 87' brat, and have been reading old threads on the parts that are required to make the swap. I've been searching but I haven't found a list of the years/models of subaru with rear discs that will work on the brat. So far as I can tell I need to find an 80's 4wd turbo donor car like a gl-10 in order to get the right parts. Does that sound right to those who have done the swap? Thanks, any info would be appreciated.
  3. I hope to make it. Excited to watch folks play in the mud. Going to try and upload a couple pics from the mud pit from 2009.
  4. thanks, I'll check them out. t

  5. A bit late on this deal; but the wheels look great. Where can I find a set? I've checked 4wheelparts.com and googled. Any help would be appreciated. t

  6. I'm in for a large. Watched that auction on ebay with interest, congrats with the win.
  7. I too am interested in a modern stereo option for my ea81, 1987 Brat. I would like to make the stock stereo compatible with my ipod and think I have found a solution. Here is the link for a wired fm modulator, http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/howToGetItTab.do?c=1&zip=21201&oid=80974#tabs radioshack sells an rca to 1/8 adapter to complete the setup. That said, is the stock am/fm setup cabable of having new speakers wired to it that aren't common ground?
  8. I have to do an a/c swap in my EA81 87' brat, I have the parts, but no time. I have been saving pics of peoples brat engines when they put them on ebay and other places on the net. I'll email them to you, also in the haynes manual there is a good pic of all the a/c components (page 87). Good Luck.
  9. I would pass, keep your eyes open for a better deal. I paid 2700 for a Brat w/ 102k and no rust.
  10. I think I am going to go with a POR 15 undercoat and a herculiner/rhino liner type product over the top. Before you buy POR-15 check ebay there is a por-15 dealer that sells the stuff for the same price per quart as the por15 website but offers free shipping, which will save you about ten bucks.
  11. Thanks for all the tips, I wouldn't have thought to try the access panels in the bed that is a good idea. An under liner/extend comination sounds like a good way to go. I found this link while searching, don't know if the problem/solution exists on other models. . . http://www.subarubrat.com/wheelwell.htm but it looks helpful.
  12. that would definately be a cheaper way to go, is the stuff from wal-mart like a rhino-liner type product. Do those types of products work well on the underside of vehicles?
  13. I have been doing some reading on different threads and it seems that people are impressed with POR-15 rust proofing. I would like to keep my Brat as rust free as possible so I was thinking of picking some up and applying it to the wheel wells, floor panels, and gas tank. Can anyone suggest other places that will need some rust proofing protection, or places that I should be care not to get any on. Thanks TMB
  14. My Brat finally arrived today after three weeks of waiting the anticipation was almost too much. She is in much better condition than I tought, original paint is in great shape, interior is amazing-no dashboard cracks, two small tears in driver seat but thats it, best part is I haven't been able to find a spot of rust yet, has 102,600 miles on it and drives very well. Looking forward to exploring the east coast a little, anyone know a subie mechanic in Maryland?
  15. I was reading on the Internet the other day that Alpine and Apple (ipod, if that is what your mp3 player is) signed a deal that Alpine stereos from now on will have the ability to hook up to an ipod through a seamless interface. Sounds expensive, but cool. TMB
  16. The Brat is a one owner California car with 102,000 miles on it. I am in Baltimore but I have a brother that lived a hour from the used car lot that it was on, he drove down and checked it out. No rust, couple of small dents/scratches but in generally great shape especially for an old subaru. So I borrowed a little more student loan money from the government than I needed and bought it. It is still in transit, and should arrive in Baltimore on Friday of this week, I can't wait. TMB
  17. These photos are awesome, but those australians are nucking futs.
  18. Sweet82, it is good to know there are people out there who know what/where Heber City is. I am from there and wish I was there, currently in Baltimore going to schoool, it must be beautiful this time of year. TMB
  19. I searched half, amazon, and ebay for the HTKYSA and didn't find anything. Can I search for it a better way. Found chilton and haynes manuals all over the internet, are they any good? TMB
  20. After two months of searching, I recently purchased a 1987 Brat. I have been trying to find a good repair manual for it. I have searched the old posts on the site and have found some conflicting info. on what is a good manual. Can anyone suggest one? Thanks for your help, it is good to be a member of a greater Subaru family again, after my 86' GL died I felt lonely. TMB lo-res pic of brat http://www.geocities.com/stungbybeehotmail2/ebay/bitterbuffalos/mybrat.jpg
