  1. Yeah I realize that If it is not cut out it will come back. I have a lead on a 79 wagon with a good hatch on it. Just not sure if a gen 1 stage 1 wagon has the same hatch as a gen 1 stage 2 wagon.
  2. I want this car to last and this is really the only real bad spot on the car. I highly doubt I can find another hatch door for this. I know what welding car sheet meteal is like... It sucks! Very difficult to weld. I am thinking about taking it to a friend who's dad is a professional body man and does custom work. He has his own shop and I am confident in his work. It is either that or another hatch door.
  3. Here are some pictures of the rust. I already ground out what I could for rust. Here is what I have to work with.
  4. Is there front seal on the 4wd transmission still available? It looks like it is leaking pretty good. Also, did work on the rear hatch on it today. Pulled out the rear window to do the first stage of rust repair. Now what do you guys recomend to use as a rust killer/inhibitor to stop the rust? I got the original window gasket out too without tearing it. Is it possible to reuse it? I highly doubt it can be but what else can I use. Doesn't a VW of some kind fit? Looks like I will have to use a little bondo to finish up after the rust repair too. first time for me on that one. Hope it turns out ok. Thanks, Richard
  5. I threw away 3 of them a little over a year ago. I know someone who can probably help with that. His name is Mike. You might already know him. His name on the board is RenaissanceMan.
  6. As far as I know it will only fit gen 1's. It will fit a 78-80 Brat and it fits on my 76 4wd wagon. So I would think it would fit on gen 1 4wd wagons also. Not sure if it would work on a 81 Brat though. Richard
  7. Anybody possibly interested in one of these. I got a wild hair to make this up at the header shop I work at. I know for California you have to have the original resonator on the car for the visual inspection. I thought this might interest someone. It really only made the car slighty louder too. I liked it. I have more pictures at:http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r281/subieguy/
  8. It would be nice if I could find center caps for though!
  9. Think it looks any better with the Enkeis on it?
  10. Pics would be great! My 76 4wd wagon could use a few parts. Just would like to see some pictures first to see if there is anything I could use. Richard.
  11. Must be something special about this car. I now have had 2 different people try to buy it in the last week in my driveway. I just tell them "Not for sale".
  12. Made a few changes with an A-bar and some EA-81 wheels off a 82 Brat. They are only temporary until I come up with the cash to put some tires on my Jackman wheels I have from my 78 Brat I had.
  13. I might have the rear glass for you. Maybe Paul can answer this one. I took them out of a 76 DL sedan I had. Not sure if they are the same shape as yours though. Richard
  14. Well did some work on it last night. Got out the Mothers clay bar and brought back the shine! Turned out pretty Good!
  15. Mike, He won't get it for his first car. He may learn how to drive a stick in it though. No way does he get it. Way to fine a car to let a teenager destroy it. Wife hates it but thats ok. She's not the one who is going to drive it.
  16. Well I finally drove it home today!:banana:This is the first time my 14 year old son has seen it and he loves it! He wants it for his first car. Maybe there is some hope in converting him over to being a Subaru lover after all!
  17. I'm not worried about the rust Mike. It is pretty serious but not through the floor pan yet. I was thinking por15 too. I think once the weatherstrip issue is taken care of I think it will be ready to once again see the road. Has not been registered since 98. Would love to get that rotted out 79 wagon here in Paso for a parts car though. She just is being totaly unreasonable about her price!
  18. Did some work on it yesterday and found something I did not like. Rust in the floorboards! It's pretty bad but not bad enough to be rotted through the floor yet. It was the most serious on the floors behind the front seats. I have got to get the weatherstripping replaced! Already have the windshield gasket now I just need to by the door weatherstripping from Mike (RenaissanceMan). Also need to replace the rear window gasket and find something to use as a seal for the rear hatch. Got to put something on the rust to stop it and fix the car. After that I think I have a pretty good driver. Also used the plasma cutter to cut off the hitch and tow bracket that somebody had welded on. Richard
  19. Well I went and picked it up today. Runs horrible! Needs the carb fixed. It really bogs down when you push down on the gas and it backfires sometimes too. By the way it has 63,383 original miles on it! These are the actual miles and who know how many of them are miles driven on it. This car used to be towed behind a motorhome by the original owners. On the plus side the AC works great!
  20. Got it today! At least the title. Could not drive it home as there are not 2 of me to drive both my cars. So I will bring it home Friday.
  21. It was all broken off when I got the car. It was one of the things I was looking for when I tried to find parts for it.
  22. Yeah I got it 2 years ago. It had been sitting in a field for 20 years. It was completely rotted out and I had absolutley no luck finding any parts for it. So I stripped it and took it to the junk. To bad too. It was a neat looking car.
  23. Here is a link to a few more pictures of it: http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r281/subieguy/
  24. The only thing I saw missing was the carpet out of the rear cargo area.
  25. Will be sold to me. Hopefully by the end of the week.
