Damn it's at every pump I've noticed in MN, WI, and IA. 101 octane at Marathon gast stations on the pump -

Keep those plugs in and change to 93 octane; see if they get that golden hue that All Talk mentioned. They look a little lean but not alarming bad. You noticed a very good sign for a Subaru engine.... none were fouled! -
MMO is rather thined out also. If people spun bearings or other crazy stuff from running these products I doubt it would be on shelves long

They rust up at the bottom of the threads deep in the heads. It's really a poor design Soak the seat of the bolt head and pray that some seaps accross the bolt/intake surface, down the long bolt, and into the threads. Heating and smacking might break loose some of that thick, nasty powder of corroded metal that is surely packed in around the threads at the bottom portion of the bolt. They are long bolts so if you are applying heat at the head it will have to get really hto for the end where it's stuck the most to really get hot. I've twisted off several now. The usually break above the head surface so you can get the intake manifold off and then use vice grips to get the rest of the bolt out. Good luck.

I say get the biggest Kumho MTs you dare to cut/bash to make fiit on the 14" rims you have. Put on a skid plate and have a blast!

No power as in NO power when ignition switch is turned to On or Start ? Don't stop at the battery post terminals. Follow the main power cables all the way to the other terminals; be sure to check them all as you go. Check all fusible links. Again check both terminals and also follow it through the middle where it tends to fry out. Makre sure they aren't fried or corroding apart. You've obviously checked all fuses

That Land Shark is a very VERY tricked out. Maybe after my son has gruaduated I'll be in a position to spend that kind of money

I'd say lift it, put bigger tires on it, then actually bust up CVs on the trail. Then let us know what would be the best way to implement some heavy duty custom CV joints. I think youll notice you want low gear reduction before you blow any axle assemblies.

Name for a lifted/hot-rodded Brat?

I belive it was these guys that was metnioned before in another thread http://www.drivetechnologies.com/page18.html Ya just found it; here's the old USMB thread about it... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=34761&highlight=drivetechnologies So who's up for spending some seriouse $ ?
-
Those are all driveshafts; not axle shafts. There is a company that makes extreeme angle axle shafts with very tough CV joints. These companies can surely make what is needed for a Subaru but nobody want's to pay for what they are worth. We'd prolly have full 6" suspension lift kits by now for Subaru platforms; but people whine about paying $400 for a simple 3" body lift. People pay thousands of dollars for suspension lift kits on other vehicles and that's why they have aftermarket support.

Base Timing vs. Advanced Timing.......
MorganM replied to jxavierf's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Guess I'm not up on what all the EA81 came in and what years. Only worked on a few friends; never owned one myself yet. I dunno why you are even worrying about it honestly You've already done the right thing and put in higher octane fuel. If it's running great on 93 I say drive on. -

Ah I just assumed 84 GL was a wagon or sedan; is it a hatchback? When it starts ping'n you are getting too greedy -
Whatever fits, you can adapt to your drive train and you can wire up to make it run. Good luck

12 deg BTDC would be 4 degrees advanced for his EA82 carb engine. -
Stuck! :) (updated with retrieval pix modem sammich)

Much easier using tools. Them thar fancy citizen band radios take brains to hook up! My tools were the only thing I took with me last time I left my Subaru. -
what to do with this motor?
MorganM replied to David C's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
All very valid points. First choice is pull it. It really does make it easier to do the maintainace and repairs you know it needs. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. If pulling it simply isnt an option then it can be done with the engine in the vehicle. Heck it could be done on the side of the road if one really had to do it! Cops would prolly haul it off before it was done though Last time I left a car on the side of the road; state troopers said i had 24 hours to get it before they did! -

As long as it's not pre-detinating (pinging) then you should be fine. -
This is some really awsome custom stuff. Thanks for taking the time to snap shots as you go. Love tracking real progress! If it's not too much to ask; could you please snap more shots of http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=2425 Specificly how it's mounted in with the rest of the unibody. Also I noticed you had a lot of images with text on the first page of posts. Anyway larger images could be posted? Thanks!
