  1. I have a '88 GL wagon also. With 29"x8.5" tires I really enjoy having the bigger tires offroad. I can still go 80mph down the highway when I need to. Be prepared to run WOT a lot; it's not a bad thing. Stock clutch holds fine and I can spin the tires on dry pavement with ease so its not like they are TOO big. Note this is for an offroad rig; I don't drive this to work every day.... only on Fridays However it's not a trailer queen. I drive anywhere from 2 hours one way to 6 hours one way to offroad and then drive back; gets me home more times than she breaks down The short: Offroad more than onroad? Go big. Onroad more than offroad? Wuss out and get 27"s or 28"s.

    Dig it!

I wheel with Jeep and Toyota guys all the time; they love seeing new stuff on the trails! Can't avoid catching some flack for driving a 'lesbian mobile' or this other guy keeps saying I'm part of the 'burkenstock' crew. They are just jealouse I go where I go with 1/3rd the money into my junk!
  3. Splash down! Next time tell Ryker to FLOOR IT so he makes a wave like yours!
  4. Ya it was about the consistancy and color of molten clay. It wouldnt really drain out or drip off. Just had to wait for it to dry and break off the thick skin.
  5. Thanks; it's nice when the two can come together.
  6. You already asked it in another thread and got the answer; this thread is for the crawl 4 the cure thanks
  7. Neither are suspension parts! Seen several bent suspension components from morons hooking onto them and pulling ppl out.
  8. Whats the final drive ratio? Is the WRX one an LSD?
  9. Yes I made it over that rock right as the clip was cut off. I think that's where Chux broke the second rear axle and thats why he didnt make that hill.
  10. Thanks for passing that on Operose. That's really what it was all about and makes it worth doing for years to come! ============================ Here's some video clips: MorganM in the Rock Gorge http://www.mnchopshop.org/images/offroad/jul04_craw4cure/morganm_rock_gorge_01.AVI http://www.mnchopshop.org/images/offroad/jul04_craw4cure/morganm_rock_gorge_02.AVI Chux on Attitude Alley http://www.mnchopshop.org/images/offroad/jul04_craw4cure/numbchux_attitute_alley.AVI
  11. Found it! Bottom shelf of my EA82 parts rack. Subaru Air Conditioning SOA0332A017 My air pump sits between the Power Steering pump and the Alternator.... well where my PS pump used to be that is =P PM me your ship-to address and I'll get you a shiping cost estimate.
  12. There is no frame. They are 1/2" grade 8 bolts. I've been winched out once and towed out once with them. You cant get a welder up in the rear where you'd want to reinforce the area; front would be doable for reinforcment. Rear you would have to cut away where you see that hole and even then it would be really tight with a stick welder. They are stronger than stock tow points / tie downs.
  13. Here's what I see happening. You properly fix all the rust you currently find. Following years you see where it starts rusting out in places that were seamingly nothing before. Most often what happens is it rusts from the inside out; gotta get inside and see it before it works its way through to the other side. If you dont tear it down to nothing and get it all you will just keep fighting it year after year in new spots. Just my opinion however.
  14. Thats not what he's running however. =================================== I thought we beat this silly ATV tire idea into the ground 3 times before? Yes I even brought it up years ago asking if it was an option. It's not an option for someone who actually drives on the pavement. It's not an option for any vehicle heavier than a hatch or justy.... I would shred and blow out one of those wussy ATV tires on my wagon; its #3800 fully loaded. Out on the rocks I would either blow one out when comming down off an obsticle or shred one up spinning it under that weight.
  15. Sounds tricked out; hope to see some pics of it rolling on 30"s. I know what bracket you mean now; those can be a bear to line up right. I almost crossthreaded one. I'm also missing a block on one of the brackets there becuase the unibody is to sevearly damaged to put it in.
  16. Just get a two row that drops in. Legacy radiator isnt any bigger and it's still single row. Inlet / outlet orfaces are larger and youd have to make a coupler.
  17. Naw you are the hoser! :-p You know what my wife will say when she sees that red dye draining down the driveway....
  18. In that second pic of the mud inside my cab. Notice the big fist size hole. Its kinda hard to see becuase the ground is pretty much the same color as the body. The doors seal okay... its the fist size holes in multiple spots that get me!
  19. made a new animated avatar of me in the rock gorge. would be longer but i had to keep it below 20kb. just a teaser before I post the 10mb video clips later tonight. It has been brought to my attention that it was playing too fast and made people go into seisures so I slowed it down a little :-p
  20. Isnt Raven still uploading them for ya? I can host them also if you want.
  21. I'll be buying more important tools before any pressure washer that's for sure
  22. I get that alot to from most everyone. Why waste your time and money on these things? 99% of them know nothing about them... they dont realize they came with things like Miles pointed out; or other options like turbo engines, the six cylinder engines, adjustable air suspension, manual adjustable suspension, 4wheel drive with hi and lo (ive noticed a lot of truck dudes dont know what 'dual range' means but they understand high and low range), rear limited slip diffs, driver controled center diffs, the list goes on and on and on as to what makes these cars just so damn cool Problem is ppl just assume its the same as every other optionless, poorly designed, and even worse manufactured, 'econobox' they have seen.
  23. I ripped out all the interior carpet and padding. Then threw down the floor mats. Cover the wiring? Naw its cool I just left it all as is. A lot of it is taped down from the factory and they have brackets holding it all in place. The connections appear to be at least water resistant if not 'water proof'. The mud really is just a mess and I'm getting pretty sick of it. It just gets EVERYWHERE and makes a huge mess to clean up and repairs more difficult. I really only go through it when I have to as part of a trail now. No more mud pits for me! :-p
  24. Hey WJM what should I do about this rust?
