I don"t know if anybody still does it but I remember TOY oil filters had a pressure valve inside that held oil to the top end so when you started up it wasn"t dry {chain rattle an all that noise}

Now to fix yours so it doesn"t get messed up later:brow: Nice solder job:) Now clean up around what you did with a wire brush cover it with ult.blk. silicone-keeps it from corroding-now at the plug inside it fill it up with dielectiric grease so it doesnt corrode-now on the outside cover all the wire openings w/silicone for the same reason:D Good luck!

It was the last of ea81s Super Basic-vinyl floor-seats-heater-GRT.MPGs-34-38 and you still do 75mph and haul stuff:) Or if he doesn"t have a FI ea82 get 1! To clear up models EA82s Time belts 1985-1994 85-88 had carbs exc turbo, 88-94 FIs. But good old fuji heavy had to throw some carbies in the mix up till 89

Whoa here!! When I had it it was pretty straight...It had the lft. rear amber part of the taillight broke but everything else was good...cracked windshield....I just used it for checking the fence I did not work it-I had a D/R wgn. I used for ranch work-I was already using it for my ranch trk. so the brat WAS spared from the ABUSE of working for it"s keep!!! I don"t do single ranges for the simple reason being I don"t see why! They are good for commuting that"s all! It didn"t have that Frt.bump.on it when I had it...It"s not my style + that thing probably WEIGHS a TON!! It had the stock bumper on it when I had it soooo.....It came with two other cars I got at the time so that"s how I got it!! I"m glad it has a happy home now if it was my old 1, I prefer wgn"s.-I can sleep in them camping if the weather is crappy!! It kills me to see them at the JY:(!!!

Well two things u can do...1 get the oil tested I"m not sure if there is anyone there that can do this. A race car shop? 2 you can pull off the intake tube and see how dirty-wet it is...while that"s off you can check.the turbo and see if the bearings are loose-worn. What happens to make the turbo toast is when it gets flogged and turned off [without cooling it down] is the oil gets cooked in the bearings and that"s the beginning of the end so to say.... Tests-comp.test,do oil press.test,vac.test, that be about it short of rebuilding it:) Or the big test-Drive it till it dies test. I"ve seen people say they are going to get it tested and drive em for years-oil changes normal maint. and they always say [well it passed this time] I don"t say anything just:lol: My 1 buddy has a 4xtoy trk. 250k does oil changes nothing done to motor except time chain and always says I gotta rebuild the mtr. He"s been saying that dance for 7years now... Nate

Sorry about Blu:( My 81 4x wgn was so rusted the doors wouldnt close right anymore between creaks+groans an twisting it was time 348k and 12yrs. AND never got stuck! Still have mtr. running 8yrs. later,! Looking 4 another wgn. again! You still have a house which is good...Good luck...

Well I"m pretty good at finding weird/bad noises! But it"s kinda hard without actually being IN the car soooo My guess goes with a diff. noise like a pinion bearing is going bad... but like I said w/out something to touch to feel it"s hard... It could be a carrier bearing too...but it sounds like it"s going through the car... If you have acces to a lift I"d put it up in the air and drive it-where it does the noise the worst using the brakes-ebrake to put it under a load! If no lift put it up on jack stands-4. Good Luck

I paid $100. for my 85gl10T w/280k-blown mtr. It had been neglected-BAD:horse: Oil was BLACK!! It threw a rod! Chick owned it for 2yrs. I don"t think she ever changed the oil in it-couldn"t see what kind of filter was on it,It was so caked w/crap-she lived 80 mi.1way out of denver, She was 2nd owner, I got it from my buddy that had a JY and got it from her $75. He called me an asked if I wanted it-looked at it-SUPER Clean body-int. so got it! I got a T-mtr.an redid it $1200 in parts hence 12#s boost! Your car should be alright if it"s had the oil changed reg. I did mine 2000-25mi.just because:brow:! Oil leaks can be fixed cheap the most important thing is the cooling hose for the turbo the heat kills them-they get hard-brittle an start leaking! I don"t know your car but if it doesnt have weird noises at cold or hot starts I"d think it would be all right...Your car is worth $$$ in parts down here-if it has a lsd in back $3-400.here rear disc brks. Like I said you know your car,my 90 loy has 190k on it all orig. Nate

If you got lucky:brow:= AGAIN May the Subie gods look down upon you- You might find a unmolested car at the yard an get lucky:) The Japan cars were pretty good about the wire harness having everything built-in from the factory so if you want to add fac. stuff you just have to go digging for the plugs so if you find 1 with everything you just have to remember where it"s at!! As 4 me
