  1. Ahh a 2000, Non turbo right, that would be a EJ25, you should look into parts for the 2.5RS as it uses the same motor. of course not all the parts will cross over, so use some common sense. things like injectors, cams, possibily intakes (thought 2.5s are noteriously bad for running poorly many aftermarket intakes) Possibily headers and exausts for Legacys. Not really any turbo kits for it as turbos don't like it's high compression. If you want trbo you can swap in a WRX or Legacy turbo motor. otherwise you're looking at major engie work like low compression pistons and new heads or cams, and possibily a beefier bottom end.
  2. Not really sure of the differences, and if you can't find the answer here you can try NASIOC.com as they deal mostly with newer models. (not that that isn't here, but this site tends to be centered around the bett.....uhh...older models. )
  3. I just got an Idea, how about a twin EJ wagon, a EJ22na up front and in back with the rearmost 4wd output rerouted to the front. you would probiblt need to lock one of the center diffs but that way you would have a twin engine AWD and woulden't have to worry about the drivetrain bolwing up as you have a variable center diff. then you could have a center axle disconnect, put one tranny in 1st and the other in R and do a flatspin (very impressive a twin motor Tibron did that and won "Best Burnout" in a mag comp)
  4. Yeah, that's not just som punk kids stealing a car and just flipping (have seen the resaults from that several times) that guy crashed into that ditch, likely on accident, it's too bad as not too much longer and they may have found it intact.
  5. Yes, A subaru engine is more than capable of putting down numbers over 800hp I saw a recent Mag that had an article about a WRX putting over 800 at just 2L Running a very lightly modded 6spd, i believe it ran a 9ish second 1/4 makeing it the quickest manual tranny Subaru in the wrld, and the only tranny mod was a cromed LSD front and rear.
  6. Well not 100% on the earlier models but the later ones not avalible in the states deffinitly are rebadges. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1996-SUBARU-JUSTY-1-3GX-AWD-WHITE_W0QQitemZ4583931307QQcategoryZ18277QQcmdZViewItem
  7. You may also want to look at a Suzuki Swift GTi engine. I believe it may just bolt on, but I could be wrong, the Subaru Justy drivetrain is basicly a Suzuki Swift IIRC.
  8. Yeah, best way to find something like that is to find someone that dosen't know what they've got. if all else fails there is always the option of doing what the one guy i posted apperently did and have a custom cover made to tap power off the rear of the engine and get a viscous coupleing and put it in somewhere.
  9. 4wd not AWD i believe. http://www.davesport.com/cgi-bin/davesport/old_bug.html This guy plans to do an AWD bug. http://www.vwfarm.com/syncrobug.html
  10. By george, I think hes on to something!
  11. Break an AWD trannny made to handle 300hp and 242Ft/Lbs of torque in a hevier car? If you did go this route you would want a pre 99 tranny as the switch from the 993 to the 996 chassis ment moveing the Viscus coupleing to the front diff. A bit spendy at 6k but you get the whole drive train http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1990-Porsche-Carrera-4-Drivetrain-Suspension-Parts_W0QQitemZ8008567799QQcategoryZ33733QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Not saying its cheap or easy, just that it's about the best for simplicty.
  12. any problems with bump steer? I know that is usually an issue with shortened/lengthened tie rods. or is the rack the same size just the ends different?
  13. I don't know about Subie performance shops, but there are ALOT of subies here in the NC mountians (Boone) more here than i have seen anywhere else, can't drive 1mi without seeing one usually.
  14. The XPower SV Club Sport features a more powerful 5.0-litre V8 with 410bhp, a 0-62mph (100km/h) of c4.4 seconds and a top speed limited to 195mph (314km/h). The car on show at the British International Motor Show is the MG XPower SV Club Sport spec, in this case powered by a special 465bhp Sean Hyland tuned 5.0-litre quad-cam V8 engine. A top speed in excess of 200mph (320km/h) and a 0-60mph (0-100km/h) time of c4.2 seconds is possible. Engines with much higher stages of tune, even with factory approved nitrous oxide injection kits, will be available to produce extreme power outputs.
  15. Woah, jst cheaked MG out...look at this car http://www.mgxpowersv.com/ Must have gotten some investors since i last looked them up.
  16. I don't know about triumphs, but I DO know MGs and no struts there. The Midget and B were essentally the same car from introduction in 61 for the midget (and the same chassis in 58 I believe as the Bugeye sprite) and the 70's i believe for the B untill their discontinuation in 1980. part of their downfall is they didn't update the chassis and suspension. MG is still around as a branch of rover But has an uncertin future.
  17. You guys think thats annoying, try driveing with intermittent ABS. every time tou hit the brakes its like "is it gonna kick in this time?" ABS dose help in many on road situations ,and lets face it, even the OB models are designed for moastly on road conditions. even off road on a muddy hill for instance it can help by keeping your wheels from locking. one of the reasons our Subarus have it is it is easier on AWD systems to prevent one or two wheels from locking thus putting stress on driveline (think front tires on snow grass rear on pavement lie you're leaveing the road).
  18. No way on a midget without EXTENSIVE fab work, basicly replaceing the front clip, and probibly not a MGB either, where would the steering shaft go. also MGs didn't have struts, they uesd a lower A arm and upper controlarm/lever shock, struts likely woulden't fit under the stock sheetmetal. besides an MGs motor sits behind the front axle line with little room in front of it so awd in the standard subaru manner is out of the question without moveing the radiator somewhere else and ruining the dynamics. the best bet would be to ues the stock tranny and a divorced Tcase to a front diff. Now here's an idea, a while back i got to mesureing and the track and wheelbase of a midget is almost identical to that of a WWII model jeep (and the civvie models postwar.) so a midget body might be made to fit. summery Subie motors are too wide for a Midget.
  19. That is awsome. Next, you need to do a 12in lift on that 'Prezza
  20. another option I have seen is mounting the computer to the ceiling in the cab. and lots of duct tape and RTV on connections, moast sensors and other connections should be ok as 12v dosen't conduct very far in water. also you should remember to route exaust up as well in case you stall mid stream and get to much water in the exaust to restart.
  21. Ok, how about this. It will take alot of fabrication but a gear box of sorts using possibily truck spider gears to reverse the rotation on the diff outputs?
