EA81 vs EA82 front suspension
I have a 87 ea81 hatch with 28 in tires and no lift so you know the axles are at a bad angle. I've had the same axles for 3 months. Replace your ball joints and engine transmission mounts. Saves your axles. And gives you a smooth ride again:)

4spd 4hi to 5spd hi/lo 87 ea81 hatchback
So I've been wondering what all do I need to do a swap to a 5spd dual range transmission on my hatch? Am I gonna need a new clutch as well as a different flywheel and driveline? 4 SPD 4hi transmission is starting to limit my off-road game.

Idk what regs you're running in but you're gonna need a cage for sure. Check with the website. Theirs usually a ton of safety specs you have to meet.

Oh and maybe some fuel treatment additive to make it run cleaner? Aka higher grade ethanol?

Grrr... Muprhy Failed Smog!
Make sure it's warmed up all the way and it's not shut off while you're waiting in the line to the smog chamber.

Carburetor issues
So I've got a hitachi carb on my ea81 so my carb or engine not sure let's off a lot of white in the morning when I'm first starting her up. Also once the engine is warmed up it'll do this jerking thing when I hover like the carburetor is choking itself that really slams my transmission and engine which really scares me as I'm currently in a battle of getting the old transmission mounts off to replace them(bolt is In there good). My buddy says it's the lack of back flow I have due to not having a full muffler. Just cat and exhaust. Any thoughts?

weber 38-38
Gloyale told me it'd only use more gas without any power gain. You need to increase your compression I.e. Headers cam made sense to me at least

What's up with webber?
Good point.... Thread closed!

What's up with webber?
Will a weber 38/38 work with my ea81? If so am I gonna get better low end torque? Or is it gonna flood my engine in a heartbeat?

Horsepower vs gearing vs Tires and lift
Well the thread is for the options of horses vs gearing. So maybe it strays a bit off topic but it's alright. My cars just a weird setup so I need answers on more than I thought. So ej22 swap for hp. Dual range 5 SPD for gearing so I don't rape my current transmission. Sweet give me a month for cash and I'll probably get all the parts and get this rig crawling up trails like a jeep

weber 38-38
Hey let us know when you get that carb. I want something with that kinda throttle!

Horsepower vs gearing vs Tires and lift
Yah I'd rather go 5 SPD with those lower gears. I need them for the tires. I'm gonna find a ej22 engine soon too that got decided today so I can give my engine to a friend with a Morris miner. A 4spd will work with a ej right?

Horsepower vs gearing vs Tires and lift
Wheel wells are chopped out. The wagons back wheel wells can't be chopped out like the hatches. As for the rims looks like someone took a dodge wheel and drilled it to fit the 4 lug pattern?
