  1. yeah it's Ed's old Brat... Mary was describing it on the Yahoo board, and I pegged it as Ed's old brat before she got pics up

  3. I've gotten a used weber 32/36 off eBay for $70. plus $20 for a rebuild kit, nad $25-$50 for the adapter. http://www.jameng.com has a lot of good stuff as well....
  4. they do absolutely zero with the cars in the yard here, until they crush them, then they drain 'em.
  5. and your model would have had 2 fuel filters. the one under the hood, which is actually known as the vapor separator, and the primary filter which is in front of the passenger side rear wheel, unedrneath the wagon. this one is often neglected, or unknown. I would change out both filters first off...
  6. sure, but if both fans are going, you will feel it and hear it as a reminder to shut it off. I rarely even turn mine on, unless I end up sitting in traffic for a bit, or I'm off-road and moving slow.
  7. for me whenever the DOJ has gone bad, it was quiet under acceleration, but jerked/made noise when coasting. (until it got real bad, then it jerked the whole car until the joint let loose totally) if the hub was stripped to the point where it was clicking, you could put your parking brake on, and put it in gear and try to drive. if it breaks free, then that's what it is. I thought Ed put new hubs on it as well.... I'd say outer CV is my first choice. (and welcome to the USMB!)
  8. Here is the list of pending orders... Let me know if you still want them or not..... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/mick/decals/pending-orders.htm have had 82 decals requested so far.... so not too bad of a run... and remember, you can always order more at any time
  9. that's a photochopper aackkkk! with 2 doors and extended, it looks eerily like my old 86 Chevy 2 door EuroSport Celebrity!!!!!!!
  10. lot's of fun last year. over 60 miles of trails. This is about 20 miles north of where the Midwest 2 meet was in April. Event Page with registration form and rules (looks like bolted towpoints for us as well...) http://www.ci4wi.org/Castana2004.htm Timber Ridge Resort - Where the Event is held http://www.peelout.net/ Iowa 4WD Association Site http://www.iowa4x4.org/ I was the only Subaru last year.... lots of different types of vehicles last year. There are a lot of "members" of the resort that run VW rail/buggies out there for the hill climbs and trials. How about Tim and Vicky??????
  11. the blue one in my above pic (first post) was on a 86 3 door, but it had a slot cut out of it on the drivers side to clear the headlight bucket assembly... if you view the large version of the pic,you can see the little piece sticking through the slot... so the "RX grill" isn't as rare as a RX, but as Rare as a 3 door? I saw another 3 door out there, but spaced off looking at the grill
  12. Okay, there was a question on the grill before, as some people are looking for the RX grilles.... this is a pic of the "RX Fake" I found... http://usmb.net/gallery/album191/pic10 however, the next row over from this one, was another 3 door that had the exact same grill (but it was smashed)... so, is it actually an RX grill, or did the 3 doors all have that grill?
  13. Ah... a '82 GL Wagon. I had one that had it's share of electrical problems. The horn and cruise did not work, along with losing the AC power, and power window circuit. the wiring seems to get fairly brittle with age, and the little issues will keep popping up. get a good digital volt/ohm meter. The FSM wiring diagram is a necessary piece at this point too. the ACC circuit which feeds the power windows, and stock volt meter, and turn signals, etc... is usually a problem point. you'll want to run a new power line from the battery, and use the original feed to the fuse box for the ACC section to flip the relay, and have the new wire feed the panel. (if when your turn signals light, your volt meter goes up/down,you will definitely want to do this.) For your current issue, by fuses under the hood, I'm assuming you mean the fusible links... even though they look okay, try replacing them.
  14. and the little pad holder clips can be had aftermarket. tough to find, but my import partsplace was able to find them.
  15. I have both of my fans on my brat running off a 30A standard relay, with all new wiring, but I needed a 15A or 20A fuse for the circuit since I have 2 fans hooked to it. the 10 would last a while, then melt the fuse slowly....
  16. Hey guys and gals! still plenty of time to get your USMB decals plus lots of other decals... in fact, I can do just about any single color decal listed on this page, if it has a downloadable image with it... (the sti ones aren't available...) http://logos.subaru.com/ and check out the decals page in the link below for current color options... let me know if you see something you want to have done, or even if you need a custom decal or 2 later, Mick

  18. # on bumper? assuming you mean on my Brat bumper. Midwest Customs is the place that did my bumpers/winch mount.... the trailer is a 16' flatbed, frame standard from http://www.mac-lander.com pressure treated lumber. stake pockets are open on bottom. adjustable 7000 lb jack, etc..... The distributor I got it from had lots of different brands to choose from. the Aluma-light ones were really cool looking, but were well over $4k!!!! there were some locally made ones there too, but the $300 upgrade to the mac-lander was a no brainer after seeing the quality differences.... I've towed several different trailer before, but none this long. It was fun backing it into my driveway for the first time....
  19. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=539 I lined the top of the "B" up with the chrome trim, because there'll be something else going in below and a shot of my new soobie hauler.... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=1214&sort=1&cat=530&page=1
  20. I'll be needing to rebuild a weber here shortly, so I figured since It'd be my first one, I'd gather up the tips/info here... what do you do? What cleaner to soak it in. (mine needs a soaking really bad ) and how long? etc.... pile on the info folks
  21. I have a more complete list at home. this is what I found with some searching..... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/mick/gears.htm
  22. here is the list of gear ratios from the 82 FSM... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/specs/mechanical/gears.html
