Which brand of oil using in 2015 forester
nipper replied to kenzoil's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAn observation Last year my Outback got a new engine from Subaru (200K blew head gaskets). Got it back and it was filled with 0w-20 oil. When the engine was warm my aftermaarket (read cheap) oil pressure gauge would be unreadable. The dealerships response was (a great dealership btw, seriously) is the oil light on, if not its fine. It was not on, but it really bothered me. I switched to 10w-40 and at idle (on the soon to be replaced cheapo gauges I should have known better but shiney thing) i now have 10psi at idle in summer I dont trust 0w oil for a car that we tend to drive till the doors fall off.

Which brand of oil using in 2015 forester
nipper replied to kenzoil's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThen I would strongly suggest a thicker oil and shorter change intervals (5000 miles so easy to remember). The 0 winter weight oil is for max MPG not for engine longevity. It just needs to carry them past the warranty period. It is to me a scary oil. Look in the owners manual under Heavy Duty use and see what they list.

nipper replied to utcoyotehunter's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSubaru suggests 105, but 100,000 is a much easier number to keep in your head.

Towing with a 2014 Subaru Outback 3.6R
nipper replied to slaber's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSomething that people forget to add in the math, Stuff. Stuff weighs a lot, as do people, then combine the two, and add in a trailer etc etc. I would strongly suggest a external tranny cooler and a tranny temp gauge.

Repairing just one side in dual units
nipper replied to ThosL's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWheel Beaings only one side at a time Steering parts in pairs Head gaskets in pairs because it can create an unbalanced idle Half shafts one at a time. Head light bulbs in Suabrus one at a time, as it is usually a bad socket that gets them, not the bulb age AWD cars 4 tires at once.

05 Outback squeeks at rear.
I know normally i can do this myself, but my Dr said no. I have a low speed squeek at the rear suspension (not a strut or strut mount). End links and rear sway bar busings done. That leaves the Lateral link bushings. I am trying to budget time and money. Are these bushings easy for a shop to do or should I find new arms and pay upfront to save in labor later. 20010 miles. Thanks. PS I just bought new Justy brake parts so I guess i'm keeping him.

2003 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport acceleration hesitation
nipper replied to subarusouthtexas's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThere are many things that can be at fault, but first RUN from that dealer. RUN FASTER! Now that thats cleared up, stop replacing parts. a 2nd cat ?!?!?!?! Lets do first thing first, get the codes read and post the actual code here. Exhaust systems do get hot, cats get red hot, thats how they work at times. Whats the history on this car?

1999 Outback - Loose clunky bump steery awful feeling steering. Help me get a replacement parts list going
nipper replied to anchoricex's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThis can be as simple as rack bushings being tired. There are many parts to the front end, and at 160K if you are keeping the car, rebuilding the front end isnt going to do any harm, but first, as Imdew said, you need to inspect it to see where the weakness is to begin with. Also unless you get the car on an alignment rack, you cant say the alignment is fine as something isnt.

03 forester 2.5 coughing and sputtering
nipper replied to daddycool100's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIs this a pseed dependent issue (always happens at speed) or only when its been running a while then it happens.

03 forester 2.5 coughing and sputtering
nipper replied to daddycool100's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSometimes it is, especially when its repeatable like clockwork. Or the EVAP isnt venting the tank, but gas caps are cheap and a good place to start,

03 forester 2.5 coughing and sputtering
nipper replied to daddycool100's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIn modern engines the PCV valve really does do tings so if its not working right its worth replacing. I would inspect the spark plugs too and check to make sure all the hoses are tight.

nipper replied to daddycool100's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXRunning bad under load, again I ask when was the last time it had a full tune up, plugs, wires, ALL filters, PCV valve. When was the last time the timing belt was done? What was the code the car threw?
