Take the highest amount of money and put it in the bank and forget about it. You will do much better in the long run this way. The cars are fairly reliable, and this would cover almost anything out of the unusual for the life of the car. If you DO buy the warrenty, ask to see the contract first and upfront. Alot of these warrenties are not worth the paper they are written on. Also be leary of the ones that give you your money back if you never make a claim. See what they define as a claim. Also this is just a free loan where you lost money. Good luck. nipper

You have bigger problems. It sounds like a blown HG. The blown hose, the loss of heat as the car gets hotter, the water consumtion, the cold radiator. I would suggest a compression test and a test for exhaust gasses in the radiator. Also a pressure test on the cooling system. Sometimes these tests are not conclusive, but your so far down that road it should fail something. Start the car with the cap off. Top off the coolant. Look for bubbles in the coolant. Wait for the t-sta to open, there should be a surge of coolant. Wtach for more bubbles (top off if needed). Bubbles are bad. good luck nipper

It can be any number to things including the drive shaft universal joints. In a sort of good news thing, it will get worse with time and make it easier to diagnose. I dont think its a cv joint, but can be a wheel out of balance, a damaged tire, wheel bearings, carrier bearing, universal joints. If you can start poking around the car at those items, you may be able to find it. If you cant, you will find with time that it happnes sooner and longer, and that will make it easier to pin down. Does the front end "click" on tight turns at low speeds? What condition is the axle boots in? Is it just in the steering wheel, or is it in the brake pedal too? Can you feel it in the seat of your pants? nipper

Ok you have been throwing money at the car without really diagnosing the issue. I can come up with any number if items, including a coolant temp sensor that can do this. Get the codes read. Disconnect the battery for an hour, and drive the car. When the CEL comes on again, get them read again (i want to see what the differnces are) and tell us what they are. I dont think there is anything wrong with the ECU, it sounds alot like a bad temp sensor. The car cant tell that it is warmed up. nipper

Lets see what the codes are first before you start doing brain transplants. There are many other things that can be causing this. Also if it IS the ecu, you want to see whats going on before you replace it. If there is a wiring issue someplace else you will just blow the replacment. Get to a autzone or some such thing and get the codes read for free. Gas mileage can be a good old fashioned tune up, a bad o2 sensor, a bad engine temp sensor, bad thermostat just to name a few. nipper

carb icing has nothing to do with water in fuel. In fact, he can being doing damage by using too much dry gas. This is s etxtbook example of icing. As was said before, check the snorkle hose and door. Also check the thermostate thingy that opens the door. nipper

On an automatic they always see wear and slippage. Thye are designed to be at least 10% engaged. They are engaged at 50% when in reverse and full throttle (also low but very few people use low). They also are designed to allow some slippage between the front and rear axles (there is no center differential) to allow for differential action on turns. This is a alot of action they see, as a car in its lifetime spends very little time going straight. Also from expierience on this board, and personally, and from posts, this is not an unusual failure mode. The clutches are probably glazed. But hey its not my customer. Loss of 4wd is very easy to diagnose if a fluid change and a can of lucas additive doesnt help it out. Good luck.

With a little imagination, you would be surprised. The first thing you have to figure out is what do you want it to do reasonably. nipper

T9 took a while for me to get used to, i just learned to look at the letters that im typing, not what comes up on the screen, untill i am done. Then i scroll through the words till i find what i want. I only had to teach the phone 10 words in the 14 months i have had it. For a while i too hated T9. nipper

It sounds like a HG issue. The combustion gasses are presurizing the cooling system. You need to do all the uusual tests for the HG. It may be a bit tricky since it seems to not do it all the time. Is your overflow full to overlfowing? Do you loose heat when the car starts running hot? Have the radiator tested for combsution gases, and look for bubbles in the coolant. good luck. nipper

The real trick to that is to keep the genset running at a fixed rpm. Thats how a the new hybrid NYC MTA transit buses are set up. It is actually more efficient to do it that way from a layout point of view if you have the space.. nipper

The SVX units never aged enough to get this kind of a failure. Like any clutch pack, the clutchs will get worn enough that they wont do anything. There are a few examples of this on here. Things brake, things wear out. You can do a fluid change to see if that helps, but i doubt it. HOw many miles on the car. nipper
