  1. my last one was 650, that was all seals, the tensioner, water pump. (why do i always need a timing belt in feburary) nipper
  2. some of those puns are rough Well the fact that it is running smoother is an indication of a worn timing belt. Running cooler yes new coolant can do that (when all the mud comes out with the old coolant). Now that was a good price, can he do mine? nipper
  3. the timing chain allows them to put the 3.0 in the same space as a 2.5 without doing any massive redesugn of the car. nipper
  4. i soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo want an svx, but i need to make sure i can get my leg that wont bend properly into one first. nipper
  5. there is a guy that sells them on ebay complete with ecu and harness. Which leads me to the question, how do you get parts for them. nipper
  6. you first. im still laid up with from back surgery and some leg paralysis for the rest of this year. Say anyone on long island have an SVX i can try on for size? nipper
  7. 3.0 is showing a timing chain tensioner issue, though i havent heard of any of late. Maybe sooby made a design change. nipper
  8. *note to self* JDM twin turbo 2.0L for Blu. nipper at least it explains the reasons for the twin cams.
  9. in theory i can see it working, espcially with a pin hole leak. The thing is pin hole HG leaks dont stay pin hole leaks very long. The other part i am suspisous of is the ceramic part (it syays that on the label). Ceramics are known for maintiaing thier dimensions in major temp deviations, where as a HG has to expnad and contract with the engine. Als the ones on the testimonial pages tend to be cast iron enigines or blocks. nipper
  10. you can tell by exmaing the sparkplugs. the one with the bad HG will be cleaner then the others. this is it http://www.barsproducts.com/product.cfm?id=41 nipper
  11. but i dont drink beer ....... so one beer is how many cocktails nipper
  12. voltage readings can give a false reading, i was going to say start at the pressure switches with an ohm meter, but i was waiting to find out if he even had a meter. if the pressure switches are closed, he has an electrical problem. If they are open, he most likely is low on refridgerant. They switches do go bad, but its rare. nipper
  13. i was in the autoparts store today, and along with stop leak type products, i saw a headgasket stop leak product, "desighned especially as a last ditch repair" before sepnding 1000's of dollars. the label said it was some sort of ceramic and fiber solution. You needed to drain the cooling system and flush it. Remove the offending cylinders spark plug Pour this suff in. Run the car for 15 minutes. Let it cool. reinstall spark plug. Run Again, Let cool. Drain flush and fill with coolant. anyone heard of this? nipper
  14. go to a junkyard and cut the harness off another car, then SOLDER the connections into yours. nipper
  15. i got news for you, 300 miles is very far as far as towing with a car goes. not very far is three miles. nipper
  16. if its getting really hot report it to the NHTSA as a sfatey hazard, a possible fire hazard. nipper
  17. easiest way would be to run a wire from the battery to the cigerette lighter, and make sure ther e is an inline fuse in that line. The multi outlet kit basically does the same thing, except for a relay that causes the outlets to be controled by the igintion switch. nipper
  18. i dont know i never had a problem.Fill the cooling system with the car off. Start the car with the cap off and waited untill the thermostat opened up. Then i would slowly fill the radiator with a premix. In 5 subarus, i've never had an air pocket. nipper
  19. its located in the HVAC box under the dash beneath the glove box. Luckily the valve is screwed in and not soldered. nipper
  20. it doesn but it comes into play some place else. On the vanaroo list they had a bunch of engine failures with the shortened pan. People put in the shortened pan, but never replaced the reduced volume of oil. This loss of volume was resulting in spun bearings. You can do this with a remote oil filter and external oil cooler. Also an oil temp gauge is recomended, nipper
