duel spfi setup posable ?
AnotherGL10guy replied to ferp420's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ahhh the ol' "do an EJ swap" instead of a simple answer. hes asking a question and getting no answers. YES, do it, you may get killer throttle responce and a few HP up high, maybe some torque gains down low. Plus it sounds cool! Try it with one ECU just wire them TB's together.! -
92 Loyale Battled a Camry :(
AnotherGL10guy replied to pheebs314's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
change the Thermostat, fix the waterpump, make sure you burp your system and get all air out, refill, connect old fan to ignition power so when your key is on your fan is on, no matter what, (bypass thermo switch) .... last, add another cheap 12inch or so electric fan where your old clutch fan was and hook up a toggle switch so when its hot out you can turn it on for extra cooling POWA!!! I ALWAYS remove that belt driven fan on ALL my cars and replace with electric. even with one fan it should be ok. fix that WP issue and TS issue. -
#1 CHECK----- I have the same car and had the same issue. believe it or not it was the temp sensor. Not the sender in the Radiator but the one in the block, offset towards pass side behind intake. The plug is the same as an injector or cold start plug, it has 2 wires and is square. My connection was bad and it did just what your saying. Cut the bad plug off, put my own female blades on, heat shrink both around metal, then plug in. Worked like a charm!! #2 CHECK----- also could be your cold start vacuum or solenoid. #3 CHECK----- I would check EVERYWHERE for a Vac leak also. I highly dont think it has anything to do with your fuel pump or pressure reg. MAYBE CHECK----- hell it could even be that stupid HAC (high altitude compensator) sticking. so many things it can be. at last, kick and tap and hit things, usually works for me!!

best thread!! love the EA82 motors. I would LOVE to do just the porting and polishing you have done here to my stock (intercooled) ea82 wagon I have. just make it run stronger and more efficient would be nice in itself. I have been looking at an EJ swap.. I want to keep the ea really!! why? because i like it! Honestly i would be happy with a reliable 150hp 7k rpm ea82t that is a smooth running RELIABLE engine. possible? suggestions????? keep up the great work!

nothing wrong with the ea82T if you take care and do things right. good motor. and the turbo is so fun! it helps to intercool it, wrap the turbo and exaust in heat wrap, over torque the heads with good HG's, have a well kept cooling system and drive it hard. heat kills.

When do you shift your EA82 5 Speed?
AnotherGL10guy replied to Ofeargall's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have an 86 GL-10 waggy turbo digi dash fresh rebuild and seal, she seems to like the lower end. Im not affraid to rap'er out a bit but she seems to like 4k max. normal to heavy exel I shift around 3800 rpm, but to really go she likes 4000-4500 max. anymore rpm and it seems to just make more noise, not more power heh... but in my NA ea82 it does like torev up in the 5k range to go. -
89 loyal all wheeldrive turbo wagen
AnotherGL10guy replied to 4play's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
oh man this is a killer project. I would love to see where it is now? pics? updates? PLEEEEASE.... awesome ride! -
have someone rev your engine for you, while you feel for proper exaust dump and you should feel decent ampount of preasure coming out the end of your pipe... if you dont feel good preasure... its the CAT, cut it off.... then check timing with cheap timing lite, anywhere Before tdc shouldnt cause major loss... if good then check compression... if not that then its the carb. check spark, fuel, and air. the EA82 is a gutless motor but shouldnt be that bad. does it seem to run smooth and all four? at idle? does it make bad sounds like ticking or knocking? burn oil? how do your plugs look color-wise?

I admire all the effort and determination you put into this wagon, its awesome! BUT.... (just my opinion mindyou) I personally would never lift a suby more than 2-4 inches, its all they need.... lifting them this high ruins how they drive and rally while still being very capable off-road. yeah, now its way up there but forget handling, and all the under-guts are hanging out, the car was soooooo bad rump roast b4 you did this to it. it was AMAZING after the snow tires and green paint. now, not so much. hey you said be honest. I admire your work either way! nice stuff. I honestly think though, if you put some skids (good ones) fixed the exaust, and put wider off-set wheels and meaty tires it will look sick! -
