  1. do you have the C clip pliers? if so, maybe they suck as bad as mine did.bend the tips in very slightly so they wont want to just slide out of the c clip when you compress it. good luck, C clips are the devil.
  2. so how is the build quality on these ebay steering wheels?
  3. A. yes, the computer should have no trouble adjusting. B. every EJ block fits every EJ transmission so no probs there.
  4. what year is the car in question? if it was DOHC it was probably a phse 1. generally you need to stay with a phase 1 motor if it is a phase 1 car for sensor issues to avoid a lot of wire hassles. as far as the running a ej25 on ej18 stuff, they run like a bat out of hell due to all the timing advance on the ej18 ecu. some stuff to watch out for: crank and cam angle sensors may be different ej22 vs. ej25. phase 2 ej22's are single port, where as the phase 2 ej25's are dual port. it is all pretty confusing I know. maybe just get the special all metal head gaskets which are available now to counteract the head gasket problem. I used them on my motor(ej22 heads on a ej25 block all phase 1) and they are cool, pretty much a bunch of thin layers of sheetmetal with crush areas.
  5. agreed on making this a sticky. what is the difference between swapping ej22 into ea81 and ej-ea82? I have an ej motor that really should be in a lightweight chassis and have my heart set on a ea81.
  6. I would definitely get them siped. I had it done to a set of tires and it was a great improvement in wet pavement, but amazing in snow. ice... meh. cutting... only if you have a grooving iron.
  7. does anyone know for certain if another suzuki engine such as a 1.6 16v or turbo swift WILL or WILL NOT bolt up to the justy trans? my lord that would be a cool motor in a justy. also anyone have more info on these turbo justy's? If they actually exist that is going to be my next vehicle. hell Im thinkin of picking one up anyway!
  8. he should just go full hydro steering. no messing around with placing a box, effortless steering, and its strictly off road. 1 junk forklift for parts, think a suby power steering pump could handle it?
  9. uhhh maybe look on the side of your tire? kostamojen your car is sick!
  10. arent those pretty huge dimensionally? also may be worth some money if it runs good.
  11. A v8 powered loyale would be sweet and probably a pretty easy swap(relatively speaking of course). that datsun is going to fly, well under 2000lbs. but those things are POS's even when compared to a loyale(no offense). R160's are strong, lots of BIG power 510's still running them. and you can always go to the R180 as mentioned. an injected 5.0 will totally fit in a subaru, the limiting factor is how high the hood is. I took some measurements a while back for a 5.0 HO, which is a pretty low intake. carbs stick up pretty high.the oil pan would have maybe 1/2" of clearance over the crossmember. but there is room for long tube headers! there is a guy building a LS1 powered WRX over on NASIOC.
  12. not too worried about the trans mount, thats seems pretty simple to fab. might not even be any welding involved. driveshaft shortening is like $60 max what about swapping the entire suspension over. I wish I had a EA car here to measure the suspension stuff against the legacy stuff. If the struts and control arms are close in measurement it might be possible to put that stuff in there, assuming the strut tops and control arms bolt up. that would be ideal as the newer stuff has way better brakes and suspension available. were there any EA82 hatches or were all those EA81. sorry for the total newb question... as for the wiring, I read somewhere that kennedy engineering has the diagram for that. something about the swap for vanagons. off to search for that on kennedy's site.
  13. I can get my hands on a legacy parts car for cheap, its a ej22 and 5mt. Ive searched and found that the motor and tranny will bolt up without *too* much trouble, so what axles(if any) will work between the 5mt and GL hubs? RX turbo? legacy? This would be for a early 80's hatch. I dont have either yet, but If I could get everything mounted up Im sure I could make it run. I would rather put the drivetrain into a justy of course but that seems like space would be too much an issue. In any case, the wiring would probably be a lot harder than the mechanical part. can the GL cars be converted to 5 lug stuff, say with RX suspension? are the GL cars cable clutch? If so do the clutch pedals pull about the same as a legacy cable clutch. are the rear diffs the same(r-160)? how much does a GL hatch weigh stock? 2300lbs? I guess the hatches are the lightest ones, but how much are the coupes and sedans? they'd be stiffer I guess. wagons are a little too heavy for what I have in mind. with a 140ish hp ej22, AWD, and weighing around 2000 lbs gutted would be a screamer. If this seems feasible I guess I'll have to start lookin for a car minus the drivetrain.
