    twin A arm?

I have wondered abou this too. the reasons I was thinking though would be wheel travel, good suspension geometry through the cycle, run the widest suby axle available for the most track width and travel. itll never get done though.
  3. what car is it? I think that an awesome setup would be some regular AGX struts with coilovers assembled from a circle track supplier. its all quality stuff and you can choose the spring rates and lengths you need. something around 200-250lb would be good. for a wagon, I would run equal rates front and rear. maybe even stiffer rear, but I like em loose. are outback struts longer stroke than regulars, or just taller in the strut body? taller wouldnt be as valuable as longer travel IMHO. at least for rally. !anyone know of the longest inserts you can get/adapt for suby struts?! cheap-ish turbo:put the 2.5 heads on a an ej22e all stock bottom end. run the ej22e MLS gaskets. 8.6:1 and really good flow. get some 440 injectors, and run the ej22e ecu with e-manage. turbo, whatever. custom uppipe using the NA header, or convert to factory turbo exhaust configuration which is a lot more work and maybe not as good. you can use the throttle body coolant lines to cool the turbo, but then you have to get some oil fittings put on the head. NA:high compression. ej25DOHC on a SOHC block. ej22e heads on either. I run the ej22e/DOHC 2.5 because it was straight bolt up and cheap, its 10.8:1 which isnt that high for CO(altitude). an acquaintence of mine ran a 13:1 volvo B20 with a huge cam and dual 48 webers on pump gas here. I digress... delta cams. ej18 ecu if its possible, those run a ton of timing advance. the 2.35 L requires custom pistons and is better suited to a turbo build for use of the closed deck block. for NA go big or go home on CC. best NA motor is ported DOHC heads, bored and stroked to 2.7 or whatever it is, 12.5:1:headbang: pistons, big cobb cams. too much $$. rwd is a gutted out and welded center diff. kinda cool, but its not really a suby anymore.
  4. anyone done some dune running in a suby? how well do they do?(I got about 170 horse). what tires? I was thinking some snows with maybe 10psi? is sand going to totally screw up my car by getting everywhere? anything I should do to the car before going in the sand? a fast suby like a ea82 or GC ejturbo with some forester struts and paddle tires would probably kick some rump roast.
  5. I have impreza struts on my car. its the same. you can screw with the ride height by mismatching springs and struts, but if you are dealing with strut assemblies from a legacy they should be the same height. its the same chassis.
  6. suberdave, your wagon is the sickest ea82 EVAR.
  7. did it feel like it was a pretty high ratio, or could you tell? regarding the R160 fitting the justy axle splines, would they be close to the correct length to fit the R160 in between? so the early justy(boxy looking one) has a different rear diff and axles?
  8. so anybody know about the justy's rear diff?
  9. I want to put something like a ford 2.3turbo and T5 in a justy as RWD. or maybe a rear mounted bike engine with a turbo. either seem pretty easy to do, unlike ej drivetrains. not too many sub 2000lb, rwd, IRS hatchbacks running around. or, 2 bike engines set up to drive both ends. 1 diff in front, one in rear, 2 engines in the trunk. what is the final drive ratio on the justy, how strong is the diff, and can an R160 bolt in?
  10. one hell of a cheap and capable EJ combo is an ej22e bottom end and SOHC ej25 heads. ends up at 8.3:1 and can take a lot of boost. SOHC heads are among the best flowing subaru has made, and flow better than a chevy LS1. NA a good combo is phase 1 ej25 bottom and and ej22e heads/management(10.8:1 CR, ~170hp) and ej25SOHC heads(11:1 CR, ~200hp)
  11. SS's are not exactly light or cheap, although they are still pretty unique. not anywhere near as unique as a swap like this though. I am thinking of picking up a 3door to swap my stuff into.
  12. oh, awesome! I never even looked at that part of usmb. thanks all.
  13. forget the ej20, get an ej25 block and some ej22 heads. stock ej25 headgaskets will get you 10.8:1, and phase 2 headgskets much higher though valve clearance may be an issue. no heads are going to help your low end like displacement will. besides I am willing to bet that ej22e SOHC heads flow a lot better at low RPM than ej18. the ej25 has the same deck height as an ej20 so you are not sacrificing any width of the motor. just my 2c, I would not mess around with ej20 and ej18 stuff.
  14. awesome, great job. care to elaborate on the wiring a little more?
  15. sorry, should have been more clear. I have a 1991 legacy with 4.11 5mt trans. I want to put an LSD in the rear diff. 4.11 LSD is a JDM deal only, so I want to use the far more common(and cheaper) clutch type in my car which as far as I know came with 3.7 or 3.9 gears. basically what I want to know is, is it better to swap gears to the LSD diff or swap the LSD guts to the 4.11 diff? I would rather do the LSD swap to my gears to avoid having to set a gear pattern which I dont feel comfortable doing just yet. or if you have experience in setting up diffs tell me a step by step. also, are there rebuild kits and replacement clutches in the even that the diff I find needs a rebuild?
  16. which is the better LSD I should use for this? what to find it in?
  17. who has done it? is it even possible? tips for getting a good gear pattern? worth it for low traction driving ie rallycross/ice racing? also what is the difference between LSD and VLSD. also opinions on welded rear diff in a 5mt car for rallycross?
  18. cheap, reliable, 4x4. hate the styling and lack of aftermarket
  19. here is what you need to do to put a turbo motor in a NA legacy crossmember fuel pump boost sensor wiring(not too bad, search legacycentral and nasioc) turbo exhaust(might as well get a custom 3") get a 5mt car with a bad motor good body and swap the turbo engine only. unless you have a LSD rear, then make a 4.11 LSD out of it.
  20. do you have to get custom axles to put a 5mt in a ea81 while keeping the 4lug setup? also shouldnt you go to 5lugs to get the bigger brakes that you will certainly need with that much power?
  21. ej motors own ea motors. ej22t shortblock with an all stock bottom end with some ej20g heads can take silly amounts of boost reliably. not to mention the difference in flow if the heads. WJM, what class are you in for SCCA and how competitive is the RX? what kinds of vehicles are you running against?
  22. sweet, what are you going to use for a heat exchanger and pump? Ive always thought it would be cool to use a reservoir for the water where you could put ice cubes into, giving you a super cooler. hell, maybe even a removeable reservoir you could stick in the freezer.
  23. sweet! probably the lightest streetable vehicle on 27's. I really want a stock(ish) justy as a cheap DD.
