  1. I suspect my sound will change when i put my 2.5" catless downpipe in. The Stock downpipe is on there right now with 2.5" welded to the end of the downpipe, going to a high flow cat and 2.5" to the end of the car. -Brian
  2. Jeff how are their cars running? I just got my block yesterday. it came from a SPFI in a 1992 Loyale. Block looks great, hope it lasts a while. -Brian
  3. I have 2.5" exhaust with no muffler and its not that loud. Of course, I do have 2 cats still. -Brian
  4. Ive had better scores in my day of junkyardin... all different stories for a different day. Here is a pic of the 1/3 side of the block, with the scratches in cyl #1. May not be 56k friendly http://gallery.usmb.net/albums/album43/DSC00668.jpg Also, the surface of the pistons appear to be really filty. Anyhow, here's a good shot of the block: The oil you see is from the power steering pump when we removed all the hoses. On the bellhousing there is a sticker with a barcode and a number on it. Starts with EA82 too. Backside looks just as good: I gotta get my heads cleaned and resurfaced and then I can start to reasemble the motor. I plan on dressing the block up alittle -Brian
  5. Complete motor would probably be between 150-180 depending on who rung you up. We removed everything but the water pump and the oil pump. They looked new as well. When i got to the counter I told the lady it was an engine block (we had it in the wheelbarrow with our toolboxes around it). She was confused cause it still had the bell housing on it and thought it was a transmission. Then i think she saw the cylinders and realized what it was. Anyhow, she rung it up for $89 and she said the timing belt cover i had in the wheelbarrow was free If i would have known she was so laid back I would have grabbed all the PCV hoses... they looked brand new. -Brian
  6. Well.... I opted for the high compression block. I arived in Reno at 10am and met up with Subieman, then we started looking at what the PnP there had to offer. Found a few turbo motors, but the lowest milage was 105k in a pretty beat up black RX. Then I decided to see what SPFI and MPFI engines I could find. I started looking for the newest EA82 and then we found it... It was a 1992 Loyale, 3spd Auto 2WD Sedan. Had been rear ended. The odo had 150k on the clock, but the interior was IMMACULATE! The coin tray was removed from the center console, and there wasnt a spec of dirt or lint or anything under the tray. The seats, carpet and dash was spotless. So i popped the hood and found a SPFI engine that was so clean I could almost see my reflection in it. So we decided to yank it. I was shocked when we removed the timing belt cover. SOA belts that were clean enough to eat off of. WOW i said. I sure hope the rings are still good. We pulled the heads and inspected the block. Crosshatch marks were apparent but Cyl #1 had some slight scoring on the sleeve. I brushed my fingers across the score marks and you could tell something had scratched the sleeve pretty good. I dont know if I should be worried or not about it. I will get some pix when I have the block up on the bench. I have a hard time believing this motor has 150k on it, since there were some stickers on the block like it had been recently purchased. But the car was so clean I guess it could be the original motor. We'll see what happens when i slap some turbo heads on it and get it runnin. -Brian
  7. Yeah she did a GREAT job on helping me get my EA82 gasket set. I couldnt have been happier. Did your timing belt set come with idlers and pulleys? If so Im kickin myself cause I bought my set on eBay for $70. -Brian
  8. Kostamojen runs 15's on his Gen1 with 195/50's i believe. And RenessainceMan runs 15's on his Gen1 Brat but i dont know his tire size. Kostamojen has had no problems but im sure he'll show up to let you know -Brian
  9. Dont worry about it Wont take much time to look over that yard saturday morning and if need be im sure Carson City has enough EA82's to pick from. Unless things are starting to change there... i havent been to that yard in over a year. -Brian
  10. Thanks Russ... I'd love to take a trip down there but I think Reno is closer. I got alittle extra $$$ from the parentals today so the reno trip is ON!! Hopefully Jeremy can find what I need. -Brian
  11. Lets see if I can remember.... Zap Qman Mike W GeofferyR RenessainceMan Austin Syphon SubaruTex Kostamojen Will Smith SubieMan Jibs NV Zeno Adam NDJ Soobme Turbone Noah88DL Bratwerst Subaru Styles uhh.... Im sure there are more. I didnt count everyone I shook hands with at the WCSS's since 1/2 of them I cant remember *edit* Oh yeah, i cant forget: ShawnW McBrat Garner Snownan NorthGuy MudRat79 Hondasucks Rooinator Dr. RX and I know there are even more. -Brian
  12. Hrmmmm.... I'll need to re-check the sheet that came with the gasket set to verify wether your right or not. I sure hope those gaskets are in the kit. -Brian
  13. Bill we'll see. Things are starting to look different now that I stocked my fridge with food. I may be forced to pull a block locally to save on fuel costs, i'd much rather get one from reno tho. Anyone know how many EA82's are in the Sparks Yard? I'd hate to drive all the way up there to find a worse selection than Sacramento's PnP. -Brian
  14. 3 Letters.... A W D (or a number and 2 letters, 4WD). Its what 1st attracted me to the Subaru, and its all the other great features that keeps me hooked. Headlights that turn off with the ignition. Boxer engine with low center of gravity. Adjustable Suspension. The ever popular 3rd eye passing lamp. There are more... but I'd be here all night -Brian
  15. Find a harbor frieght. This will be your best friend. I picked up a complete car care set there once that had a Timing Gun, Dwell Meter, Compression tester and a switch you could use to bypass the ignition... in order to crank the engine w/out being inside the car. I think i paid $55 for it after tax, but i still use the timing gun to this day (3yrs later). Ive upgraded everything else since then. -Brian
  16. Yeah I knew you would be. I remember you worked like 12hrs last saturday. The way my bank account looks, im not sure if I'll be able to go as well. Might have to hit up the local Bank Mom and see if I can get a loan. -Brian
  17. Thanks for the offer Jerry, but It wont be necessary. I'll be able to get my own And Jibs... i dont remember you Brat leaking more oil than any of the other subes at the show -Brian
  18. naw im already set on installing the HG's dry. I feel SOA would have provided a sealant if they wanted me to use one. Just the other gaskets that like to develop leaks after 10-20k that Im worried about. -Brian
  19. Good idea. I work as a construction equipment mechanic so it shouldnt be hard to locate a tube of the stuff. -Brian
  20. Naw, i wouldnt put sealant on the exhaust gaskets. I saw the crap that was on the old cam housings, thats what made me ask. That didnt look like your typical gasket sealer. Im gonna have to look into this permatex stuff. -Brian
  21. Let me guess.... $60 for a tube? Must I use SOA gasket sealer? and if i do is it for the head gaskets too or what? -Brian
  22. Maybe a Peugeot dealer can still find the lugs. I guess I could goto the yard and pull all the lugs off the pugs there, i think there are like 2 or 3 sets. -Brian
  23. I gotta couch for you to crash on. I doubt my garage will be empty by the time you do your road trip but if worse comes to worse I can make space for you. Thats if you plan on passing through Sacramento. -Brian
