  1. I'd like to know how you got a distributor to run on the EJ22. Got any pix? -Brian
  2. 9 months ago it looked like this: Oh the days This is a EA82 Turbo. I will be putting a high compression block in from a N/A MPFI or SPFI or whatever I can find with the lowest milage at the junkyard. It will be about 9.0 or 9.5:1 (depending on wether you ask Caleb or WJM :-P ) -Brian
  3. And holy CRAP theres alot of stuff on these EA82's. Only other motor Ive done was a EA81, and those are cake. I sure hope I can get all this stuff back together on the new block... and running. We'll see Im filthy tho, and exhausted. I'll go clean up and you guys can enjoy the pix: "Bad Piston! BAD!" About as split as I can get it: The operating table in the ER: Plenty more where those came from too: http://gallery.usmb.net/album42 Next! Get another block and repeat the process in reverse. -Brian
  4. I just pulled the passenger head from my EA82T on Sunday and found i had Gen3 heads. Here's the thread i made, with a pic to help you identify the head: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=48560 -Brian
  5. Awesome. Jibs let me know Bill, Im gonna try my best to get what I need at the sparks yard. im affraid if we need to scope Sparks... then drive to Carson by the time we get there it will be closer to sun-down and only getting colder. Im hoping to be in Reno by 10am Saturday morning. -Brian
  6. Yeah now that I have a part # for the connector you better believe this new motor will have one! -Brian
  7. There is a N/A MPFI XT in the yard that has a knock sensor. No spider intake tho -Brian
  8. I gotta WRX scoop I need to do this to. What kinda epoxy did you use? Im not sure whats best for this type of plastic. I have another scoop I might use as well. no trimming involved but doesnt look as nice or as "subaru" as the WRX scoop does. -Brian
  9. I gotta find me a low mileage block somehow. Ive already looked here in Sacramento and I think my odds of finding what I need are better in Nevada. So this Saturday I'm planning a trip up there. Figure I'll hit the PnP in Sparks NV and if I cant find a good enough motor there then head to Carson City and scope out the yards there. Dave... whens the last time youve been to carson? Any idea how many EA82's are there? Im looking for a Loyale in the '90-'91 era thats been T-boned or rear ended. Something that looks like it ended up in the yard for something other than engine related problems. Who's in? Will need some extra hands to pull the motor out of the car. -Brian
  10. I pulled my temp sensor before my car blew up. The connector was so corroded I thought it was a single wire connector, not until I started to clean everything out I saw there were 2 terminals. After I cleaned everything up, it cleared all 5 ECU codes i had. Car didnt run much better, and a week later is when it spit the rod through the block. I gotta get me some of that electric grease stuff. -Brian
  11. The TD04 from a WRX or the VF11 from a Turbo legacy is a near bolt-on. You just need to make a small modification to your up-pipe in order to mount the turbo. However, the rear of the turbo will not bolt to your stock downpipe, so you will need a WRX downpipe (works for both legacy and wrx turbos). Another problem is the air outlet from the turbo to your intake is slightly different. Where our VF7 comes out straight up, the other turbos are at an angle... therefore you will need to get creative with the air intake. If you want to install an intercooler, now is the time to do it, as that would solve the problem with the air intake. -Brian
  12. My RX threw a rod. Right now the motor is out and sitting on my workbench in the garage. Waiting for a new block then I can re-assemble the motor and should be up and running in a few weeks. -Brian
  13. Your dating Laura?? You dog you! -Brian
  14. There doesnt appear to be any cracks: -Brian
  15. THats what i Had thought, but didnt know for sure. Good news is there appears to be no damge to the head. -Brian
  16. Thats the cast at the bottom of my head. I cant find the webpage that had the directions on how to identify it, but can anyone tell me what gen my head is? -Brian
  17. I unbolted the downpipe from the back of the turbo. My exhaust is all 1 piece, no flanges at the end of the downpipe. Once the engine was on my workbench I removed the turbo and up-pipe. -Brian
  18. Ouch... that was below the belt Zap. I say go for it though Patrick. 1st chance I get im runnin out of cali, thinkin of heading up that way myself. -Brian
  19. When i removed my EA82T, I 1st removed the intake manifold with the smog canister and all the hoses. Then I removed the block from the car with heads, and turbo attatched. When i reinstall the motor, it will be complete. -Brian
  20. I wouldnt pay 10g's for a 30yr old subaru after only seeing one picture of it. Someone local should go take a look -Brian
  21. The Napa listing for the parts im getting were NPT. Are subies NPT? -Brian
  22. the 6x140 conversion is the easiest and cheapest way to get larger rims. -Brian
  23. Make sure your radiator is full. Then leave the cap off the radiator and run your engine. Let the engine idle and warm up. You want to reach operating temperatures and then look into the radiator through the cap. Look to see if there are any bubbles appearing. If the coolant in the radiator bubbles over a prolonged amount of time, and doesnt stop that is a sign of a faulty head gasket. A compression test on the engine will also reveal a bad gasket if one exists. -Brian
