  1. I'll be reassembling my EA82T using a SOA Engine Gasket Kit. Has every single gasket i should need, from the oil pump to the rear main seal and everything in between. Im not sure if I should use a sealant on the head gaskets or not. I already plan on using a sealer for the intake gaskets, oil pan and some other various gaskets that like to leak (oil pump, valve covers etc). Can anyone recommend a sealant to use? Should I use a different type for different parts? Thanks all, -Brian
  2. Come up and get em Russ!! I have no problem with you using them just dont get me pulled over or arrested I thiink i'll just remove the bolts at the connecting rod and crank, then remove the crank and push the pistons out the top of the block (side, front, whatever). The one good side will make a nice pencil holder for my office -Brian
  3. It had been burning oil for about a week prior to its demise. I believe there was a bad ring or something. I attempted to take it on a road trip, and about 80 miles out I believe it finally ran out of oil an well... crank bearings kinda need oil. -Brian
  4. Ok i believe you its a EJ22... but how did you find a disty setup for it. Man that'd be awesome! And I think the knock sensor is what retards the timing. I dont think the subaru automaticly adjusts timing in relation to boost. But if the knock sensor feels a knock, it'll do it. -Brian
  5. YEah are we sure thats a EJ22? Thats a pretty wicked setup. How do you have the fuel injection setup? I think the turbo retards the timing but i could be wrong. -Brian
  6. Dont know what im looking for since these are the only bearings Ive ever seen to a) be completly flat and have no bearings in them. What should I be looking for? one fell out and I threw it away. I think the others are still attatched to the block. -Brian
  7. On the shorter lug does the coned washer spin freely? or is it all one entire piece of a lug like the longer ones? -Brian
  8. I'd like to know how you got a distributor to run on the EJ22. Got any pix? -Brian
  9. 9 months ago it looked like this: Oh the days This is a EA82 Turbo. I will be putting a high compression block in from a N/A MPFI or SPFI or whatever I can find with the lowest milage at the junkyard. It will be about 9.0 or 9.5:1 (depending on wether you ask Caleb or WJM :-P ) -Brian
  10. And holy CRAP theres alot of stuff on these EA82's. Only other motor Ive done was a EA81, and those are cake. I sure hope I can get all this stuff back together on the new block... and running. We'll see Im filthy tho, and exhausted. I'll go clean up and you guys can enjoy the pix: "Bad Piston! BAD!" About as split as I can get it: The operating table in the ER: Plenty more where those came from too: http://gallery.usmb.net/album42 Next! Get another block and repeat the process in reverse. -Brian
  11. I just pulled the passenger head from my EA82T on Sunday and found i had Gen3 heads. Here's the thread i made, with a pic to help you identify the head: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=48560 -Brian
  12. Awesome. Jibs let me know Bill, Im gonna try my best to get what I need at the sparks yard. im affraid if we need to scope Sparks... then drive to Carson by the time we get there it will be closer to sun-down and only getting colder. Im hoping to be in Reno by 10am Saturday morning. -Brian
  13. Yeah now that I have a part # for the connector you better believe this new motor will have one! -Brian
  14. There is a N/A MPFI XT in the yard that has a knock sensor. No spider intake tho -Brian
  15. I gotta WRX scoop I need to do this to. What kinda epoxy did you use? Im not sure whats best for this type of plastic. I have another scoop I might use as well. no trimming involved but doesnt look as nice or as "subaru" as the WRX scoop does. -Brian
  16. I gotta find me a low mileage block somehow. Ive already looked here in Sacramento and I think my odds of finding what I need are better in Nevada. So this Saturday I'm planning a trip up there. Figure I'll hit the PnP in Sparks NV and if I cant find a good enough motor there then head to Carson City and scope out the yards there. Dave... whens the last time youve been to carson? Any idea how many EA82's are there? Im looking for a Loyale in the '90-'91 era thats been T-boned or rear ended. Something that looks like it ended up in the yard for something other than engine related problems. Who's in? Will need some extra hands to pull the motor out of the car. -Brian
  17. I pulled my temp sensor before my car blew up. The connector was so corroded I thought it was a single wire connector, not until I started to clean everything out I saw there were 2 terminals. After I cleaned everything up, it cleared all 5 ECU codes i had. Car didnt run much better, and a week later is when it spit the rod through the block. I gotta get me some of that electric grease stuff. -Brian
  18. The TD04 from a WRX or the VF11 from a Turbo legacy is a near bolt-on. You just need to make a small modification to your up-pipe in order to mount the turbo. However, the rear of the turbo will not bolt to your stock downpipe, so you will need a WRX downpipe (works for both legacy and wrx turbos). Another problem is the air outlet from the turbo to your intake is slightly different. Where our VF7 comes out straight up, the other turbos are at an angle... therefore you will need to get creative with the air intake. If you want to install an intercooler, now is the time to do it, as that would solve the problem with the air intake. -Brian
  19. My RX threw a rod. Right now the motor is out and sitting on my workbench in the garage. Waiting for a new block then I can re-assemble the motor and should be up and running in a few weeks. -Brian
  20. THats what i Had thought, but didnt know for sure. Good news is there appears to be no damge to the head. -Brian
  21. Thats the cast at the bottom of my head. I cant find the webpage that had the directions on how to identify it, but can anyone tell me what gen my head is? -Brian
