  1. Expecially comming from someone like SubaruBrat. But he's right. All of tony's work is 110%. I couldnt believe the stuff that was rolling out of his shop. Too bad I already have all the accessories I need, cant think of anything else for tony to build. -Brian
  2. SubaruBrat: I want the MPFI, im sick of Carb's... reason behind this entire idea is to keep the EA81 and its OHV, but dump the Hitachi and carb idea all together. CIS: Thanks for the support, i wont be needing any parts... i should be able to get everything from here. I was thinking the same, my roomates EA82T had a leaking exhaust that didnt provide 100% pressure to the turbo. It ran like crap, but still ran... so im thinking the EA81T with N/A pistons should work out just fine. And also... why is everyone suggesting to use EA82 parts? Is it needed? Why cant I just use the same MPFI Intake and parts from the EA81 (minus the plentum). If EA81T and EA82T injectors are identical, than this should be easier than i assumed. -Brian
  3. Awesome Craig! thats something i'll need to remember. -Brian
  4. Why cant i just use the MPFI intake? Also, arent the EA81T pistons dished? I'd want N/A pistons to make up the CR. Also, im dreaming of putting an aftermarket cam to help bring the power into the lower revs. But thats not a neccessity. -Brian
  5. I WANT TO USE THE EA81!! I preffer the OHV over OHC. And since this is going to be an off-road rig, i dont want turbo whatsoever. If i remove the boost with the turbo, will the EA81T ECU start to freak out? or will the added compression with the 1600cc pistons ballance things out? -Brian
  6. Telephone poles dont hold a CHANCE against my sube anymore Tony also had a hood for me, i left it behind. I kinda like the crinkle in the corner, reminds me of what happens when toyota's get in the way, and reminds the telephone poles they need to step back when they see me commin. -Brian
  7. Craig, thats exactly what I wanted to hear. Garner... i dont want carburation, timing belts, or the hassle of swapping fuel lines, ecu, etc. I know how rare EA81T's are, do you know how long ive been looking for one to do this project with. The only real work that'll need to be done is replace the piston's. Everything else is just removal of un-needed equipment. Miles, there are only 3 types of EA81's. 1bbl, 2bbl and MPFI Turbo. -Brian
  8. I got offered a '84 EA81T Wagon. I dont have any desire to have, run, and maintain a EA81T, so i was thinking of maybe using it for a project. How difficult would it be to convert the EA81T into a stadnard MPFI EA81? I was thinking of pulling the pistons and replacing with 1600cc pistons. Also replace the cam, and possibly deck the heads. The engine would stay in the same body, and use the same ECU & fuel lines, just missing the turbo and forced induction stuff. My target will be 10.5:1 CR, but 10:1 would be reasonable. This would be my off-road rig, so i would like more power in the low revs. Obviously i'll have it lifted 3" and have a 5spd D/R behind it. -Brian
  9. I have tomorrow (tuesday) and Friday off. Open both days, except for tomorrow i gotta bowl at 6pm. -Brian
  10. wow, they got 5? I wonder if Subaru imported them in hopes of using them for rally? -Brian
  11. Take it from me, you'll need to make it stronger in order for it to protect your car. I would suggest using the center piece and mounting arms as a base, and have tony make that bar indestructable. -Brian
  12. Dave... are you planning any more trips to the Rancho area? Last time I was at the yard here, they were down to 1 row of subaru's, but they had a few EA81's left. I need to make a trip there myself to get another hitachi for my wagon, maybe if you can find the time we can make a yard run. -Brian
  13. Took a weekend trip up to Medford to see Tony, Adam and the Rogue crew. What a bunch of sick and twisted Subaru owners When i arived at tony's, i was greeted with my new brushguard he fabbed up for me. He waited until i arived before he welded the brackets on, that way I got to decide exactly how it would sit. After we got it welded up, i sprayed it real quick with a light coat of flat black, and we went on our way to play in the mud. Overall we had 6 lifted rigs and Tony's rig, which is stock other than the tires and welded rear. Anyhow, i didnt get any pictures of the trip, but i do got pix of the brushguard Here are two others: http://usmb.net/albums/album175/newguard_007.jpg http://usmb.net/albums/album175/newguard_006.jpg http://usmb.net/gallery/album175 I had a great time, cant wait to do it again. -Brian
  14. hahaha Thats the only hatch in aus I was talking with Dave last night, he's come a long way on that thing. -Brian
  15. Odd... I have a capture card as well. The guys got some good footage of some crazy orgonian's being drug through the mud. And also a couple women who decided they wanted to mud wrestle (in ALL that perfect off-roading mud, oh well... might as well let them). Sean, get that brushguard fixed up, i wanna see it on your rig. -Brian
  16. Screw eugene. John wasnt done with my bumper, so i just came home. I probably wont be up that way again until the WCSS, so get ahold of me on AOL and we'll touch base. -Brian
  17. AH! What a drive! Just got home. There was so much rain through the pass, it washed all the mud off my car But my brushguard is still there No pix from this end, i left the camera's at home. Bugaru got some great pix though, hopefully we'll see them soon. **Update** I went outside and snapped some quick shots of the brushguard. They're pretty dark cause its 2am, but i should have better shots tomorrow. http://usmb.net/gallery/album175 I have to take it off to paint it still. Many thanks to Soobme for whipping this up for me. -Brian
  18. Meeting at tony's at 9am. Im here in medford, READY TO GET MY CAR MUDDY!! We'll be wrenchin for an hour or so... so arive anytime after 9am, and you'll meet us. -Brian
  19. We got ppl comming from up north. From what I understand, they all have lifted rigs. Im in the mood to play in some mud, but since the car has to still make a trip home, i'd preffer not to break anything -Brian
  20. WHEELS & TIRES & LIFT, OH MY!!!!!! I will be going straight to Tony's house on Saturday. Should arive between 4pm and 6pm. Start mixin up some mud!! -Brian
  21. Cant wait to see it in person. Might wanna trim the fenders before the trip tho. -Brian
  22. Cool, i got tony's address so I'll probably just go straight to his pad if I arive on Saturday. If I show up on friday, i'll head up to Adams. Adam, PM on the way. The car is like a sail boat with the rack on the top. and im planning on having 3 tires on the rack, and 2 tires in the rear of the car, with some other crap back there. Im affraid "peddle to the metal" only averages about 55-60mph, and about 35-50 through the pass. Giving me an average travel time of aprox 7 hours give or take. Thats if there are no problems that arise *knock on wood*. -Brian
  23. You guys might just make me drive up on Friday! heheh... I have a party for work on friday that wont get out till at least midnight. I can skip the whole thing, and be in Medford by 6pm Friday night, but that means im missing out on the party... and they give away ALOT of cool stuff. Anyhow, either Friday or Saturday. most likely saturday, that way i can slap my bumpers on, do alittle wrenchin and get the rig ready to roll! -Brian
