  1. Would love to see how you plan on putting a "posi" in the front. Will definatly look cool lifted though!
  2. Talked to Jibs today, and he is planning on bringing me the transmission next weekend. I will most likely spend next week cleaning the garage and preparing it so I have room to do a tranny swap... So, next weekend
  3. I had a EA81 once that had an aftermarket pump that was mounted under the hood. It never had any trouble, but they are designed to push fuel, not suck fuel... so the closer to the tank the better.
  4. 2WD XT struts are the shortest struts Subaru made for the EA82 series. I wouldnt recommend them if lift is what your after.
  5. I think its kinda hard. But thats just me. I would rather spend the $300 or so on a lift that has already been engineered & tested... than spend $300 on materials, and a couple months working all the bugs out. When lifting the front of your car, you need to offset the front struts to retain the propper wheel camber. If you just add blocks to the top of the struts, your camber will be greatly effected. And there are no adjustments, so you have to offset the blocks just right to avoid uneven tire wear. The rest, yeah, its pretty much just blocks. There are plenty of people who have made their own lifts and they work great.
  6. When you insert the key, can you back it off any? It sounds like its in the ACC position and the key is worn enough so you can insert it still.
  7. If its a loyale, there is a 99% chance it is NOT a turbo. But it will be Fuel Injected.
  8. You dont have alot of choice when it comes to lifting a Subaru. There is no "Frame" so you wont notice the body lift like you do on Trucks. If you want to save your CV's, you have to use a lift kit. Do yourself a favor, and read through some of the threads in our "Off-Road" forum. There is a TON of information and pictures there to help you understand.
  9. You sure its a 21R and not a 20R? Or a 22R? I didnt think they came out with 21R's but you guys overseas get some funky stuff. Thats a great looking truck, minus the bed. A friend of mine has a '82 with the same body. We built a flatbed for it, and are in the process of putting an exo-cage on it. Its a rock crawler. Love that body style, mine is alittle newer with the '86 Body.
  10. Heya. I take it by the name you live in Reno NV? Alot of good Subie folk up that way. I try to make it up there a few times a year to visit. I just picked up a Brat myself. Get that thing road worthy and we can have some sort of Brat Meet
  11. 36" Jack that sucker up!! I hear you can fit 44" tires under there if you trim the fenders alittle. Forget the axles!! They can handle it!!
  12. No other plans right now, just going to pretty it up. Put the Brat Targa Stripes on it. I drove it around the other day, and the transmission whines really bad. Car was running hot as well. Im hoping its just the extra drag on the transmission thats causing it to run hot... I guess i'll know more when i start wrenchin on it.
  13. Yeah mick, I was thinking that. I was also thinking of taking these panels into an upholstery shop and having them do some custom panels.
  14. Yeah... other EA81 seats. If you want Legacy or EA82 seats, you need to modify their frame rails.
  15. Yup, ac is all there. Good chance it will need to be recharged. I have everything I need at work to do it. And yes, they are EA82 seats from a GL10, with height adjust and all that good stuff Very confy..
  16. Eh, if the cop wants to be a total wongleflute you can.
  17. Im going to do the tranny swap and use it as is for now. Maybe this time next year i can start with the EJ Swap.
  18. Ok onto the story. This is not a stock brat. It looks fairly stock at first glance, however there are a few things some may notice. 1) power windows 2) missing side steps 3) Power Mirrors, Cruise, A/C, Power Steering. The Gentleman I bought it from is a USMB member. Will Smith. His prior business was buying insurance wrecks and repairing them then reselling them. His method of repairing is to cut the good front off a wreck, and weld it to a good rear. What we have here is a 1983 GL10 Wagon front end, welded to a Brat rear end. Even at close up, you could never tell. Not only does it look great, but I trust his workmanship and feel this car is as structurally sound as any Brat out there. Will is unable to finish this project he started, all that is left is putting the interior back together and the trim. He told me he removed the side steps and filled in the holes. Not sure why, but i dont mind since there are no jump seats anyway and i have no plans on installing any. Also while talking with Will, i mentioned how disapointed I was that he didnt chose to use a Brat with T-Tops. He told me he did, but he could never get the T-Tops to seal propperly so he filled in the holes. Again, looking at it... even under a microscope, you would never be able to tell. The car runs great. It has every option available in 1983, the only problem is the transmission. THe input shaft bearing is bad, and when it siezes the engine stalls, so I need to replace the 4 speed. It looks like he painted the interior black, and has a custom black headliner as well. He had a slanted radio console paint matched that he threw in. And those rims on it now wont be there for long, because he had a set of Alloys he sold me (he wasnt willing to just give them away, and when you see them you'll understand why). So yeah, thats about it. The story as I know it. First thing first is getting it titled in my name, which I gotta smog to do, which it needs a tranny to do. Then I want to install a Targa stripe and it will eventually replace the Legacy. Brian
  19. Onto the interior Shots: A bed full of extra parts. And a locking toolbox, which uses the same key the ignition takes: One more shot of the Tailgate in all its glory and perfection: And the roof, no t-tops An extra piece he had, color matched to the interior:
  20. Ok here we go. I'll start with the pictures. Then go into details. Here are the only imperfections on the body I can find:
  21. Looks like somebody needs a front bumper Car is looking great Greenley.
  22. Didnt get home until 10pm last night and it was way too dark to get pictures. I guess I could go out now and get some
