  1. Yup, ac is all there. Good chance it will need to be recharged. I have everything I need at work to do it. And yes, they are EA82 seats from a GL10, with height adjust and all that good stuff Very confy..
  2. Im going to do the tranny swap and use it as is for now. Maybe this time next year i can start with the EJ Swap.
  3. Ok onto the story. This is not a stock brat. It looks fairly stock at first glance, however there are a few things some may notice. 1) power windows 2) missing side steps 3) Power Mirrors, Cruise, A/C, Power Steering. The Gentleman I bought it from is a USMB member. Will Smith. His prior business was buying insurance wrecks and repairing them then reselling them. His method of repairing is to cut the good front off a wreck, and weld it to a good rear. What we have here is a 1983 GL10 Wagon front end, welded to a Brat rear end. Even at close up, you could never tell. Not only does it look great, but I trust his workmanship and feel this car is as structurally sound as any Brat out there. Will is unable to finish this project he started, all that is left is putting the interior back together and the trim. He told me he removed the side steps and filled in the holes. Not sure why, but i dont mind since there are no jump seats anyway and i have no plans on installing any. Also while talking with Will, i mentioned how disapointed I was that he didnt chose to use a Brat with T-Tops. He told me he did, but he could never get the T-Tops to seal propperly so he filled in the holes. Again, looking at it... even under a microscope, you would never be able to tell. The car runs great. It has every option available in 1983, the only problem is the transmission. THe input shaft bearing is bad, and when it siezes the engine stalls, so I need to replace the 4 speed. It looks like he painted the interior black, and has a custom black headliner as well. He had a slanted radio console paint matched that he threw in. And those rims on it now wont be there for long, because he had a set of Alloys he sold me (he wasnt willing to just give them away, and when you see them you'll understand why). So yeah, thats about it. The story as I know it. First thing first is getting it titled in my name, which I gotta smog to do, which it needs a tranny to do. Then I want to install a Targa stripe and it will eventually replace the Legacy. Brian
  4. Onto the interior Shots: A bed full of extra parts. And a locking toolbox, which uses the same key the ignition takes: One more shot of the Tailgate in all its glory and perfection: And the roof, no t-tops An extra piece he had, color matched to the interior:
  5. Ok here we go. I'll start with the pictures. Then go into details. Here are the only imperfections on the body I can find:
  6. Looks like somebody needs a front bumper Car is looking great Greenley.
  7. Didnt get home until 10pm last night and it was way too dark to get pictures. I guess I could go out now and get some
  8. It is obvious you have never driven through Tahoe. The EA82T gets a bad wrap. Hell, even I blew one up. But thats cause people try to get more power than the EA82 can handle. If its treated right, it will last just as long as any EA82 out there. However, its rare to find a EA82T that was ever treated right. And yes, it can cause headaches. But i have driven a carburated EA82 through Tahoe and even downshifting isnt enough. I have driven a Turbo EA82, and a Turbo EJ22 through there and you pass people uphill.
  9. Smog cert is a HUGE plus!! HUUUUGE! But, really, for the power i would see about the Turbo. I would not recommend swapping from Carb to F.I. There is too much involved, and when you do get it done... you can kiss that smog cert goodbye. Part Time 4WD does mean you have to shift it manually. There are no locking hubs. You pull one lever and you are switching from FWD to 4WD. The auto has a button you push, and its run from vacuum. It takes a second to get the 4WD to engage, and if things are quirky it may never engage. You should NEVER use 4WD on dry pavement. With that being said, you are able to use it anywhere else. Rule of thumb is to ensure one front wheel and one rear wheel has 10% slip. These cars do not have a center differential. When you have it in 4WD, you get 50/50 front and rear distribution and binding will occur if you try to turn and there is no "give". I grew up in Alaska, and every subaru I drove I would keep in 4WD from October until March. If there was snow, ice, gravel or mud on the road I was in 4WD. and believe you me, i could DEFINATLY tell a difference between 4WD & FWD.
  10. I kinda skimmed everything, but let me give you my 2 cents. In the sierra's, with your elevation and the climbing in the area... the Turbo will be a godsent! The auto may suck... scratch that, the auto DOES suck, but the Fuel injection and the turbo are WAY better than the Naturally aspirated motor. Turbo cars will not care what elevation you run at. The N/A car will. Its much easier to swap a 5spd into a Turbo Car, rather than a Turbo into a 5 speed car. The Carson City NV Pick-n-Pull has all the parts you need for the conversion. If the EA82T runs good, i would vote for it. Its a reliable motor if treated well.
  11. There is a new gallery, and its a fresh start. If you have the pix on your computer I recommend uploading them again. I know shawn got rid of the old gallery, it was a backdoor for hackers and the new gallery is much more secure. Dunno if we'll get those pics back or not.
  12. There is no transfercase. The oil for the 4WD portion of the gearing should share the same oil as your differential.
  13. No steps. This is a totally custom rig. Just wait for the details, but its one of a kind.
  14. YOU SUCK!!! Yeah, i figured nobody ever went into that forum. I realized after I posted this, that I already left a clue there. Good on you for finding it, least you could have done was left it as a "clue" and not spoil it. But yes, cats out of the bag. 1983 Brat. It's a GL10. I'll explain more on that later
  15. I have to do this job soon. Jibs has a tranny I need to get from him. Im glad you got it done Greenley, your right... if you can do this i know i can! Grats on getting your Wagon back up and running
  16. ROFL! Yeah. Well, since this is in the Old Gen I guess I can narrow it down to the EA81s. :-p
  17. Something VERY cool indeed. I cant wait to have pictures to show off. Change of plans, i go up tomorrow to pick it up. Saturday i should have something to show. YEEEEEEEEEEEE :banana:
  18. Nice, AWD will seriously help. I cant imagine all that power, going to the rear wheels, of a car/truck with almost zero weight over the rear end.
  19. I wish you luck. Im getting my Brat tomorrow. Be prepared for a ton of questions
  20. Well. I had to get this off my chest, can't hold it in much longer. Was surfing the good ole' craigslist last week and came across a Subaru. Price was unbelievable, according to the pictures. So yesterday I go up and take a look at it and promised the guy I would return saturday to tow it home. Yes, i gotta tow it home, the transmission is toast. Good news is I got a spare 4 speed to put in. I don't want to give too much away, kinda want it to be a suprise but im not as good at this as Zap is, so i had to post something. I'll have pictures this weekend Im sure. Anyhow, im as giddy as a schoolgirl
  21. Man im so jealous! I have driven EA81's over the pass many times and I have suffered the 3rd gear at 4500rpm dilemma far too many times. Anyhow, im not sure about the problems you are experiencing, but i did want to let you know there is a free tool out there for the OBD1 Legacy's with the EJ2.2. If you got your 2.2 and ECU from a Legacy 91-94 & have a laptop, you should look into this: http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=16219 I use it for my Turbo Legacy and it has come in very handy for diagnosing problems or just seeing what the ECU is reading and examining it. VRG is the guy who coded the software and it is open source. He's a real great guy, and he has even started making stand-alone units that do everything the laptop software does, but in addition it will also read & clear stored ECU codes. Info on that can be found here: http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=34119 Im going to go take a look at a Brat tonight and if all goes well it will be in my driveway this weekend. The EJ Swap is definatly #2 on my list (#1 would be the 5spd swap since it has a bad tranny). -Brian
  22. Here's a couple new(er) ones. Figure I would update the thread alittle. Both are Toyota vid's... taken from the longer slickrock video above.
  23. Call a different Napa, here is proof Napa carries spring pins: http://www.napaonline.com/NOLPPSE/(S(3v5d1y45qgung4203s1nus45))/Detail.aspx?R=RFD80673_0006417369 You just need the right size. Im not sure what the correct size is though.
