  1. It still doesnt make it alright. no you cannot use 4WD on pavement. The button does not lock your center diff... YOU HAVE NO CENTER DIFF. The button engages the rear driveline, turning your FWD car into 4WD. There is no transfer case. Your front and rear are locked 50/50.
  2. I preffer it if they swallow Had to!!!!!! Happy belated b-day Rob.
  3. YAY!! THanks for adding another shirt to the lineup!!!!
  4. The only reason Im going to be able to make it this year is because Jibs opted to carpool with me and split the cost of gas We'll be there friday night.
  5. "Finally, my Right fender matches the Left"
  6. 1500lbs + EFI = Dont worry about gearing. You wont be slow, but you can't be stopped. -Brian
  7. I would recommend the XT6 alt at the least. And a Dual Battery setup for sure! You can probably get away with the stock alt, but definatly look into dual batteries. And the bigger the gauge wiring the better (or smaller gauge, whatever) just some big rump roast wire.
  8. Shawn, where does your route plan on taking you? Would be cool to meet up and continue the journey with you. -Brian
  9. Thanks guys. I have just been window shopping. I was thinking of selling my Turbo Wagon to get a Forester, considering I could get my asking price for the Wagon. BUt then again, it would be nice to have a 2.2T in a Forester
  10. I think im going to start shopping for a late model Forester. As far as I know, they all came with 2.5's. I think the only ones I will be able to afford will be the 1998 models and im wondering if they were prone to the same headgasket failure that Subaru 2.5's are famous for. -Brian
  11. They are only the same after 1983. Pre 1982, 2WD had smaller clutch disks than 4WD. After 1983, everything is the same.
  12. Shocking, the Rancho PnP usually has at least 1 or 2 EA81's. There are a couple other Junkyards here in town that aren't PnP's. Where in Sacramento are you located? -Brian
  13. Isnt it just a standard 12point 14mm socket?
  14. Well i think thats your problem. Make sure you have the light attached to plug #1 or else you wont see anything either. -Brian
  15. Did you ever get a timing light and check the timing?
  16. WOW!!! if insurance companies are paying $3800 for a totalled brat... maybe I should buy this $1600 one and drive it into a drunk driver. That's a $2200 profit! Im glad you got the settlment you were looking for. This only means the price of every brat in existance is certain to jump another $1000
  17. Yeah i was going to say... your car looks (in the pictures in the other thread) to have 13" Cal Master rims, which only came in 4lug. -Brian
  18. Garner that car is looking great! Glad to see you got the fender flares worked out. And those rims Too bad your on the wrong coast now Was hoping you'd make a special appearance at a WCSS.
  19. I wish I had Not long after I got it from you, i ended up selling the RX. The Downpipe sat in the garage until the WCSS8 where I delivered it to Brad (Subaru_Styles) and it is now living happily in his RX. Im cruisin in a Turbo Legacy now. Keep us informed on that Brat's progress... and dont forget the pix!
  20. If you want to know for sure, perform a compression test on the motor. Hope its just something simple and stupid.
  21. The prev. owner did not change to 1983 Brakes. They are the original brakes for your hatchback. EA81 share the same brakes. EA82 share the same brakes. EA81 rims do not fit EA82 brake calipers (some do, but most do not). EA81 = 1980 to 1984 EA82 = 1985 to 1991 Hatchbacks and Brats manufactured in 1985 and 1986 still have EA81 brakes, so when you go into a parts store and ask for parts... you can expect to get the wrong parts. You should just assume you are buying parts for your '83... cause everything on the '83 will fit your '86. -Brian
  22. Garner! Good to see you are still alive. Too bad your on the wrong coast now, but at least you still got your Brat. Sounds like your plans will be more than enough to safely fire up the motor. -Brian
  23. You could also relocate your MAF and put it between the intercooler and throttlebody. That way the air that is blown off, has not yet been metered.
