Speedo fix for oversized tires
For some reason my speedo was out with my 185/60R14's (22.5 inch, stock is 23"[?]) Now with my 27" tyres it seems to be right. Lucky me That is a very popular and brilliant idea though. Good to show it to the offroad crowd

Ratio of running vs. non-running subarus
I got one, my Brat, and my brother bought two wagons, both wrecks, but his fixin one up. Hopefully it will become the coolest subie wagon here in Australia, prolly not tho. Lots of wicked plans for it So, out of three, only one runs at the moment!

Rear lockout hubs ?

should i or should i not
I don't really get any disrespect here in Australia. Most guys put there thumbs up at me on the road. Maybe thats cos my car looks sick as! I dunno. Best thing I can think of is just say... "Wanna compare them offroad? Or just brag about your own rig?" That might stur them up a bit. Ppl talk bs all the time, just ask them to prove it and they'll back down in a none ego bending way. Then hop in ya can and laugh your way home.

need help fast ASAP!

Which Air Shocks for EA81?
I don't know what mine are, but I like them. At 0 PSI I can put about 250kg in the tray without my 27"s rubbing. With them at 80 PSI I can put well over 400kg (I have the torsion bar up full) I am trying to figure out a custom compresser for them. So I can pump them up while driving, or if I can't get to a air supply. Also, mine don't use a bracket, and they seem to drop lower then a 2" lifted stock shock subie Hey, this is my 400th post .

will these fit on a brat?
Pretty sure it wont be a straight fit, fender shape is different on the wagon to the brat. You may be able to mod them to fit though.

Rebuild Advice
Is it a manual or auto? I think I've heard the autos are bad, and don't last long. If its a manual and there isn't any crunch in the shifter when changing thru the gears its likely to last a few more years to come. I don't know what the cost of the rebuild would be, but a new motor might be easier (less work and same cost?) The rear diff should just go, and go, and go...... Main things on these subies that die are CV's and the engine (even tho every one seems to think there really tough)

welcome back usmb
when you get a website you get a limit of "bandwidth" This is the MB's you are aloud to send to the clients that view the website. If you post a picture in your thred that is 60kb's, every time someone views that picture it uses 60kb's (or 0.06MB's) of your bandwidth. 1000 letters = 1KB, or 0.001MB's. It all adds up and you run out of the bandwidth limit. Its like a download limit on your internet. If you pay more, you get more. I am guessing that this forum isn't served on a members house hold computer, but is served on a website server. If you donate more you shouldn't get this problem again. I have to wait till I have some cash in my PayPal account before I can donate

Is there a year/model/motor/etc. guide I missed?
79 to 84 wagons are EA81's all with 4speed manual or ?speed auto. Most are deul range. If it says deul range it means it must be 4WD. Some come as 2WD's. You can also get 4WD single range. I am unsure how to find out if it is deul range without driving it. 85 to 89 wagons are EA82's with five speed manuals or ?speed autos. I think these ones have deul range writen on the 4WD selector. They also come in single range and 2WD models. In australia they went upto 94, but I am unsure about in america. Some XT's and RX's (and maybe the GL-10 wagons, turbo'd ones) come with AWD 5speeds and I think they have a lockable center diff so you can offroad better (more like a 4WD.) Unsure on EFI, as us Australians didn't get the EFI models. Hope that helps a bit.

Loyale peopleeeeeeeeeee
yeah, it adjusts where the steering wheel sits verticaly. I think it can move the wheel about 2 to 3 inches, better then most other cars i've driven. If you want to try to get it to work, first try spraying some RP7 or WD40 into it (if your not sure what I'm on about, its a spray on oil which is very good at freeing up stuck stuff. Dunno if you guys get RP7 or WD40 in the US)

I'm new, What Subaru should I buy for offroading? Basic conversion Q's
Something on a side note. I've noticed newer car heaters are SOOO much better then the old cars ones. Just thought that might matter up there in canada. Look for a 80's hatch!!!

tappets, best way of adjusting?
Just thought you'd all like to know what the problem was. It turns out that the duel carb motors are different. They have the inlet and exhaust valves the other way round, like EA82's. And I was adjusting the valve clearance for the standard EA81, not the SPECIAL duel carb version. That means I had the wrong clearance on the valves. I didn't think there was much difference between the single and duel motors. But there is! :-O

Pillar guages for EA82 cars?
Yeah, I saw somewhere someone used 97? civic pillar pod. They said it was a very close match to the EA82 pillars

drooling (pointless post)
Yeah... I think I've seen the Brat like that. mega wide, not much lift. Stilll, I'd love to drive in a mud pit with one Makes what we do to our cars look small But then again, at least theres lots of pictures of our subies in action, unlike all of these "artic rigs"

Amphibious Subaru (sort of)
looks like a concept 70's sports car :-\ Looks good, But I don't see much of a point to be able to drive on water.

drooling (pointless post)
Anybody know whos this is? I just thought... holy___! I had no idea people done this sort of thing to later model subies. What size tyres you think that subie is running?

stupid old car
Us aussies call them utes. They are really called Brumbies here. And yes, they are the same as Brat's. Hey Brumby Boy, what happened about that wreck you were looking at getting? I think its cool having a spare parts car. But I haven't used either of mine yet (well I put the charcoal canister on my duel carb setup, as it was set up as the least efficient car ever) I have used the local "u-pull it" a few times. Its a good place to get stuff. I only go to self serve wreckers tho.

how replace the steering wheel
I use a small 320mm wheel on my brat without power steering. Its lighter then the 2001 ford festiva hatchback I learnt to drive in (also had no power steering) I don't think theres a whole load of difference on how hard it is to steer. What is a "GT" steering wheel? Pictures?
