  1. anyone in my area that wants to work on this project maybe weekly or whatever, Im not makin much progress, :-p  :-\
  2. Zap , I noticed the Kuhmos why not swampers? the reason I ask is Im looking to get a set of more streetable tires and am looking at the Kuhmos
  3. I had a '86 with the automatic it was a x cab p-up I really liked the truck but when our girl came along I sold it as there was no room for a baby seat sounds like a nice project good luck
  4. Heres a idea heres a 31" x 10.5 tire on a stock 15 soobie rim, you could move the strut up to the second hole take some metal with 3 holes in itand bolt it up , I did this on a offroad Metro I put together, it also gives you part of your lift, I would stay away from deep dish offset wheel as Its harder to turn and hard on the bearings , and offroad it tends to jerk the wheel out of your hands
  5. went out northfork, we should plan another trip up there http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showpost.php?p=543133&postcount=3
  6. Here we are went up the hill out Northfork, should go up again with others. Mounted uup the studded snow tires and even got a flat on the main road headin in , not sure why it seemed like I was loosing power so we pulled over and the rear Passenger side was totally flat, it might have been low from home as I have never ran these befor, they ride much nicer then the swampers,
  7. we would like to go find some snow , so far its just my family today or tomarrow , think if we head out northfork up the sevice roads should find some anyone want to go its out Mt Baker Hwy past Deming
  8. if its the same as a 91 legacey i have the struts to make the pattern off,
  9. front strut towers what maybe 2" I could make a set
  10. think we need to install dads moter in it ,carb it, keep the 6" lift on it , raise the engine back to stock and prep it for a transfercase and front diff , it could be my DD and sell the White car, then eventually maybe drop in the EJ . or save the EJ for the Tracker project:eek:
  11. thinkin duals front and rear with a 2" lift maybe cool , use stock subaru rims and 25-26" snowish tires , maybe run the outer tires smaller so they wouldnt contact the ground untill you needed them ,this would also help with the stock gearing, run a locked rear of course
  12. do you have the stock plate? if so bring it and we will used that as a base and weld some more bracing on that
  13. shop night has dwindled down , maybe its winter maybe its every here has there cars where they wanted to be , not sure ................................................. Im thinkin about starting a new thread, more on the lines of whats going on at Scotts place this week , I could post what Im developing, my own personal projects Im in the process of building, what SJRLIFT is up to and developing , any other thoughts that are going though my head, what do you guys think? any suggestions?, maybe even throw in some of the other personal going on in my life , any interest in a thread like that? would anyone read it or even care?
  14. powers been off a couple days here , if a couple guys could help me out we could make them but its not a project Im willing to take on by myself, , I have a bunch of my own projects that are not getting done .I will be making a hood for my offroader it will be one peice hood/fenders/grill , leave the rear half the hood and fenders cut at centerline of wheel , be custom with small round headlights and front corners bobbed kind of like the hoods they put on Baja bugs:banana:
  15. add plastic fenders to fit in:banana:
  16. go EJ, do you want low gears? , or going to stick with stock gears and smallish tires, myself I would want lower gears, if you go with a second diff up front you could bring the engine back and drop the diff up inbetween the engine and transaxle this will bring the nose back 4-6" also brings the diff up so your engine can stay lower, would also need a transfercase , nissans 1:2 ratio ,or a sammy is 1:2.26 , with the sammy you can get some even lower gear sets, if its a sand type looking buggy you could even run a 3.7 diff up front and a 4.11 out back, that way you could have a 27" tire on front and run 31s on the back, heres a chart that shows what tire combos would work: .........Front...Rear1...Rear2...Rear3 Ratio...3.7.....3.9.......4.11.....4.44 Tire1...25......26.4......27.8.....30.0 Tire2...26......27.4......28.9.....31.2 Tire3...27......28.5......30.0.....32.4 Tire4...28......29.5......31.1.....33.6 Tire5...29......30.6......32.2.....34.8 I would pick up a good running lagacy and use that as the doner , has a 4.11 rear diff, has a EJ2.2 has stronger axles and easy to find 5 bolt wheel pattern, the rear axle set up is more difficult as it runs struts and arms , all matters what you want and your ability SJR
  17. who needs that when we have the real thing,.............. looks like you had fun Zap
  18. I build Fiberglass molds at my job , with someones help we could wip out a few, my question is the mounting and the front latch
  19. a VW Thingee has mosty straight flat surfaces, if it was me I would take a rust free soobie chop off all the sheet metal that doesnt look like a thing, weld up some straight square tubing in the shape of a thing and put a skin on it pretty simple lines on that thing keep us posted SJR
