Building up a EA82 for offroad, would like to get more travel, would like to know what struts for the front and what springs/shocks for the rear I could use to do this, I remember seeing some long travel front struts I think from australia, anyway just trying to get as much flex out of the car as possible, the CVs will take more angle but the stock struts/springs wont allow it , any thoughts, even retrofitting something else would be fine,

alot have been done do a search and you will see , you will need the EJ harness with computer, a adapter ring, a redrilled EA82 flywheel, with that carbed fuel pump will need replaced with a higher presure FI pump, a electric pusher fan in front of the radiator as theres no room behind it, I sell these parts

toyota makes a 3.9, if the ratios a little off you can run different tire sizes front and rear , when your spinning in the mud it wont matter anyway if the ratios a tad off, Ive never broke a Axle wheelin offroad, they have always been EA82 , my weak point is the front radius rods, I seem to like bending them, the nissans have a few 3.9s '68-'72 datsun 510 wagon(leaf spring 4-lug) I believe these were 29spline, all other H190's are 31 spline gear ratio was 3.90 Nissan pickup 521, 620 models 59-79 all models leaf spring 6-lug 3.90-4.30 depending on year and intended uses (some were camper specials) Nissan 720 pickup 80-86 2wd regular cab/king cab all transmissions leaf spring 6-lug 3.42-3.90 depending on tranny and cab Nissan D21 pickup 86.5-95 V-6 2wd 3.90

oil pan clearance differences ea81 -> ej22
Scott in Bellingham replied to mcbrat's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
EJ pan sits lower say 3/4" guess, theres nothing much in there so a pan mod would be a easy thing -
Last trip out broke a stub axle on a large concrete obstacle I made a splined ring to aid getting the stub out of the doner diff, I cut the splined hole off a junk axle cup then held it with a pipe wrench worked good, then used a 8 mm 6 point socket to get the funny bolt off, wrong tool all I had ,the correct tool is a E10 torx Socket

Hair-brained ideas from a guy who cant sleep
Scott in Bellingham replied to The Beast I Drive's topic in Off Road
befor I installed the EJ2.2 into my wheeler I wanted lower gears as the EA82 engine didnt have enough power, now that I have the EJ and less weight gearing is not a issue, I can go up hills that befor I had to get a run at and sometimes not make because of lack of power, I feel what I gots a good combo if you want to stay simple and stick with subaru, EA82 body, dual range and axles EJ engine tires no larger then 28"
