  1. Manual you can put the trans in 5th and have someone hold the brakes. Auto, you can put a punch in the flex plate through the inspection hole. Either, You can pull a plug have the cyclinder on the compression stroke and then fill it with oil. Or push rope in to the plug hole. If using oil, put the plug back in and torque the bolt (125 ftlbs) then remove the plug and turn it through a few times to push the oil back out of the plug hole. Its messy but works. Inspect the pulley, shaft and key for damage, fix what is damaged.
  2. Non - interference. No damage should have been done to the valves or pistons. You should not torque against the new t-belt. I use segments of the old one and a strap wrench to hold the cam pulleys when I torque those bolts. The main crank bolt should go to 125 ftlbs. You can torque it by locking up the flex plate on the auto or in gear on the manual. Just pull the belt back off and line up the timing marks and put the belt or new belt back on. After a few, you're a pro.
  3. Most places can not resell CATs, but ask the yards in your area. The length of the pipes are all the same. They may look a little different, but I've bolted up many different years and models. Good Luck finding a good one.
  4. Here you go! Off the Denver Craigslist. 94 Subaru Impreza 5 spd Manual transmission - $100 Reply to: sale-205542662@craigslist.org Date: 2006-09-10, 5:41PM MDT 5 Spd Manual transmission from a 94 Subaru impreza. Unknow Milage. Must sell trying to make room in my garage. $100 Obo this is in or around Denver no -- it's NOT ok to contact this Or get my Trans Kit from the Turbo Legacy, Listed on the USMB $100 and about 200 to ship.
  5. Put it on all the pulleys first, the geared idler pulley last. Just rotate the idler into position and start the bolt. The new style tensioners are not as good as the old ones. You can switch by changine the attach block out.
  6. Drain the fluid and take a look. Any Metal? How's the gear lube look and smell. Put new gear lube in at the proper service level. Any change in the noise? Lot's of trans make noise, is it different from gear to gear or is it the same?
  7. I have a coil off a 98 2.5 that will work fine. I'm in the springs. Lmdew@hotmail.com How's $30 Larry
  8. If it started right after the fluid change, I'd say you broke a wire if you were in the pan to change the filter. It could be that some dirt has broken loose from the new fluid and clogged the C-Duty flow. Have you tried the FWD Fuse? That will tell you if the wire is broken.
  9. The RPM sound normal for the 2.2 Legacy. How bad is the rust, you just have to think about the results of a total failure and that should guide your maintenance.
  10. Pick one up cheap with a bad engine and then put a 95 2.2 in. Its a direct bolt up. If you look at running cars, make sure you test drive for at least 30 minutes at heavy loads and then check the overflow tank for signs of air or oil deposits (nasty black stuff).
  11. Your best bet it http://www.ccrengines.com. They are off of 58th street on the north side. They only rebuild Subaru engines! Strickly auto is another good shop in Denver.
  12. If you need a pump or alt I have them both. $25 each + shipping. Lmdew@hotmail.com. I'm in CO
  13. You can drop the pan, but the engine will have to be jacked a little to get the back bolts. It easy if the exhaust pipe is dropped, but possible with it on. A used pan and plug should be at most yards. RTV is the seal for the new pan.
  14. I have most everything you need, but its in Colorado. Not to cheap to ship to Montreal CA, but if you send enough Richards Red we may be able to make a deal.
  15. They are different. If you need forster struts I have a set.
  16. That's the electrical connector. Look for the plug, it should be close by, just two wires. You have no power to the pump. The tank is pulled for maintenance, like changing the plugs. They just did not hook it back up.
  17. 95 is the one you want. I believe 96 and newer are interference engines. Rick at CCR will be able to confirm this for you.
  18. CCR engines are Great, but why do you think the old one is bad? Does the sound change when the engine warms up? If so it's most likely piston slap - keep on driving it. You can check the oil pressure if the bottom end bearings are bad, pressure will be low.
  19. In idle park hot is best. Yes, you have to check it the same all the time or you will get wierd results.
  20. I drain and fill and then pull the return hose off the radiator. Run a hose into a gallon jug and start the engine. Pour fluid in the trans at the same rate its coming out into the jug. When you have clean fluid coming out the radiator cooler, you have flushed the trans. It takes about 3 gallons for a complete flush. Check out www.bossproductsusa.com for a great trans filter. Larry
  21. Check out these filters. If there is enough interest, I'd do a large buy and could get them for about $35 each. I got one with my Dodge rebuilt trans and started looking into them. Great filter! http://bossproductsusa.com/products.html Let me know if you want one or more!
