  1. Hey guys splitting my ej22t's now I don't want to start prying on things yet till I verify that I can indeed do this? I obviously removed the heads removed as many bolts as I can see and I can't seem to pry the block apart, but figured before I get "creative" i would verify there isn't bolts or something behind the pistons lol. Some input or suggestions would be great! After some searching I have gathered it is easy to split the block and to keep flipping it around and verifying all the bolts are out which I am pretty confident they are.
  2. I like to talk friends out of new subaru's as well unless it's a wrx, sti, legacy gt 05+, outback xt or outback with a h6, legacy n/a and turbo 91-94.
  3. You could probably find some cheap 16" wrx rims too on nasioc. I got my 17" jdm legacy rims with 4 runflat re050a's for $600.
  4. haha i still remember how my car felt when i went from 225/45/17 with re050a tires to 225/55/16 w409 snows. It was almost like I was driving with flat tires lol. It was VERY scary the first time I got on the highway with them.
  5. test drove the forester with the new motor. No big deal seems exactly the same as the old one maybe slower. woot for a new engine!!
  6. The engine is being completely torn down. All that is being used is the block itself not the crank, pistons, rods etc. It will be a 2.35l stroker build.
  7. Yes same to you! and agreed ^ drivetrain out Bad news is water pump done oil pump only thing probably good is the bareblock and the transmission case cracked too
  8. Ya ughh the poor car I keep saying Engine is still good though.
  9. Thanks! ^ Heres some pics from today got the front end off so we can pull the motor and transmission together.
  10. Definitely a issue with some serious play even the uv joints that connect the steering to the rack.
  11. Snow tires definitely make things feel very loose on dry asphalt on a warm day. I suggest you check the pressure in the tire and check for play in the tie rods and ball joints like you are thinking. Have you had the rack serviced recently?
  12. Oh and I found it here http://www.subarupartsforyou.com/cp_partlistbymod.php?model=Legacy&subcat=Clutch%2C+Dust+Boot&year=1997 Either 30542AA000 or 30542AA040
  13. another thing to consider is did he replace the thermostat with a oem one aftermarket ones are completely different and could easily be installed backwards.
  14. Says 3.3ft-lbs http://www.main.experiencetherave.com/subaru_manual_scans/FSM_Scans/at_valve_body_removal_&_installation3.jpg I simply use a extension with a 10mm and spun it as tight as I could with the extension no wrench.
  15. when the thermostat is fully closed the heater core and engine are still circulating thermostat just adds the rad. Make sure all the idlers are good !
  16. Thank's for the suggestion currently looking into a 05-09 legacy gt. Until a bunch of house reno's finish won't be looking at another SS, unless it is a deal that I can never find again like my car was
  17. Just get a new pump it's only $100 or less. I didn't even bother with my old pump there so old and so cheap to replace and the new ones are slightly updated casting etc so I don't see why you wouldn't replace it!
  18. I definitely think it does. It also had fender braces though thick aluminum ones and I think during impact it put alot more stress on certain areas which caused it to buckle the way it did.
  19. Ya I wish! LOL Um I don't really recall, a/c condensor definitely leaked, and battery acid otherwise everything was still sealed. Thank you brycarp !
  20. sounds like coolant temperature sensor if it wont start every time as long as its cranking even the ignition relay could be bad.
