Drive axels!!!! Where????
hush777 replied to Nomad_Brad's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Check with Bow Wow at 345-6451 That is on emerald in boise and where I get all my parts from. Hush -
That would be a 17mm flare end. As for the o-rings between the cam housing and the head, all of the aftermarket sets of gaskets I have bought have cheap ones, so I get the new ones from the dealer, they have a metal band in them that keeps them from collapsing like the aftermarket o-rings do. Part # for the o-rings is 13089aa010 about $10 for both here in Idaho. http://www.1stsubaru.com shows them for about 1.87 each but shipping would kill that is you weren't getting anything else. Hush

Starting issues 87 gl-10

GD I have had to tear several of them apart to fix this problem. No money and lots of kids makes for necessity being the mother of innovation and repair not replace. Thanks for the word though. Hush -

I have a similar problem with the wifes 87T wagon. But if I back off on the key just a hair it will fire up just fine so I need to pull the ignition and clean it out. Hush -
Rear Hatch Missaligned
hush777 replied to The Dude Abides's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I use a piece of 1x2 wood about 14" long that sets behind the prop rod, setting on the lower hinge of the rob and up against the outer housing of the prop. It sets on the car side not on the open side so there is no chance of knocking it out. Mine has lasted about a year but the edges are getting a little rounded so it is about time to replace it. That seal is just for the pilot bearing, there will be no engine oil in that area. Behind it you should find a pilot bearing or bushing depends on which one got put in there.

If I remember right there are 2 on the front and back. Several that are easy to see, then 1 or maybe it was 2 that are burried inside the case about halfway down the cylinders. Hush

Have you adjusted the rear brakes?? I'm assuming they are drums still, if not then disregard this msg. They might be taking up some of the fluid movement. Hush -

PB Blaster then a screwdriver in where the pinch bolt goes should loosen it up. Then cheater pipe on the control arm to get the knuckle to drop down. Hush -
Pics would be nice. My son had a brat and we had some problems with the clutch, mainly electrical though . Check the cable, it is probably wore out, and stiff. The housing end at the trany might be wore and moving sideways, or the cable might be frayed inside the housing. Hush P.S. did you get my PM?

My son drove his car 200+ miles with the front pinion looking like this. Standard trans. 4x4 ring gear was fine. Hush -

Went to Bow-wow today in boise. 345-6451 Talked to Mike the owner and he said that the front wheel bearings cross over to a VW bearing that he sells for alot cheaper. I have been getting parts there for a while and get a special discount, I paid $23.55 for the bearings and seals for 1 side. He and Paul have been great at getting me the right parts for the right price. Just a plug for them for anyone around Boise. They are on Emerald. Hush
