  1. He's a good kid Tim. He'll come through. Try to be patient.
  2. Other problem would be that the EA81 and EA82 flywheels are cut at different depths. So it can't use the same pressure plate.
  3. No, the diffs are completely different. There is a company that makes front LSD conversions. I don't recall the name right now.
  4. Standard loyale/GL rear coil overs bolt right up. The fronts are a little different. Struts bolt right up you just have to decide what stance you want your XT to have. Available struts include, XT(2wd)(4WD), wagon, coupe, or sedan(2wd)(4WD). The XT's are shorter in comparison to the wagon, coupe and sedan. I would stick with the whole package from one vehicle so the stance will be even. All you have to do to the compressor is unplug it. You can remove all the stuff if you want to take the time to do so but it is not neccessary.
  5. I did it with the wheel as a pattern and it worked but I definitely like the pattern(template) idea. I think if you have access to machines a steel or aluminum one with steel inserts woulb be better. Reason I say this is the uneven surface on the backside of the hub makes setting up in a press dificult at best. Nice job though. I may have to get with you, I need to do another set. Ken
  6. Scott has thesolution for the switch. As far as the buzzing when charging. That is typical of a high amperage charge. Best to keep it under 10amps. I usually try to do 2 amp trickle charges, when I remember to charge ahead of time.
  7. Get ahold of me if you want to do it. It wouldn't be the first vehicle that left my driveway without a roof.
  8. Other than changing cams I don't really know how to get torque from the bottom end. The one down side of the turbo.
  9. Well, to use the covers have advantages and disadvantages. Advantages; Keeps objects from getting lodged in the belts. Keeps some of the mud out of the tensioner bearings. Disadvantages; Keeps the mud and gunk that does manage to get in there in there. I guess Subiemech said it best, it's a matter of preference. Intake seems to be better at speed or higher RPM's. Neither of which will benefit you in a lifted 'roo in the woods. It will make driving it on the street nicer though.
  10. The stock 3rd eye grill is for a two headlight system. The grill is larger. I used the stock grill and cutout the hole from the original grill. I also used the original timer and switch. Looks almost stock.
  11. Should also note, no grinding on the automatic bellhousing. Manual bellhousings require a bit of fit and fair.
  12. '81 GL Brats came with the EA81 and D/R 4sp.
  13. The tool is called an axle/cv installer. Very useful little tool.
  14. Interesting. Every Datsun/Nissan I come across has already been relieved of it's carb. Maybe I'll get lucky one day.
  15. OK, I got the name Ed. Call me tonight after 6pm. Ken
  16. The flywheel is more than likely for the EA82 5sp trans. You can have it lightened but you will need to verify that it came from an EA82 originally. Clutch is different.
  17. GI covered it pretty well. You may also need to swap bellhousings. I don't recall 100% if they work with the '82 bellhousings. Much better holding power and performance from the bigger clutch.
  18. I agree, excellent choice. I need to send you some of the sponsor logo's and the show logo as well. Ken
  19. While you're in there upgrade to the 9" flywheel and clutch. The '82 should still have the 8" flywheel/clutch assy.
  20. I hope all are doing fine.
  21. Every one I set up has had the return line. I also ran a regulator on most. My latest install I went with a 5-7 psi pump and a regulator. Make sure the vent line from the canister is unplugged if you removed the emissions. I've just left it open after removing the hard metal lines. If you plug it it will cause a vapor lock of sorts. You should check the float level. Some have been set kind of low. It sounds like the bowl may be emptying itself. My '86 Brat (lifted) is running the stock pump with a regulator(probably not neccessary) and has no issues.
  22. Go back and look at what they gave 5 star ratings and you may find that the info seems flawed.
  23. EA81 carb on EA82? Canister has been removed? And it is a 2bbl hitachi.
  24. Looking good. Are you gonna make the Subaru show in Hood River in August? Would be nice to see that there.
  25. Those kits are available from Australia. Sweet 82 built one here in the states as well.
