It's Done!.........for the most part....
Very nice. How's it run? Have you had it on any trails yet?

About how long does an axle change take?
I managed to do two in my old 2wd GL10 in 30 minutes. That was wheel on the ground to wheel back on the ground. Trail changes make some difference. Terrain, temps and such will add to the time.

Gauging interest in making a Subaru Flag w'old school logo
No offence but you may want to check other sources. It seems very expensive set up charge. You say set up charge, what are the material costs?

Weber question
The kit is jetted for your application. Unless the one on EBay is for a Subaru it may not be. The adapter isn't a big deal. The Weber adapter works just fine as long as you pay attention to details. There have been many write-ups about this and a simple search should provide you with many choices and opinions. Good luck!!

The Hatch Patrol story-the unveiling(with pics)
Basher, I was hung up on the IFS thing. It is the future and I am taking it as far as I can. Freak, that was kind of the idea. They are nissan parts and it is the first. Junkie, cheap way out? I guess that depends on your definition of cheap. Compared to axle shafts that will handle the stresses of long travel then definitely. BTW, something else to ponder. Anyone remember when a completely unknown guy from Newport Washington showed up claiming to have added a transfer case and 6" of lift? Considered blasphamy at first. Now people are lining up to do it. Open yourselves up to the future.

The Hatch Patrol story-the unveiling(with pics)
I'll start the replies with this. They are Nissan parts. For those that don't like it, that's OK. No really, it's OK. I(we) didn't build it for you. The specs; 10" lift in the front(combination of body and suspension lift), transfer case, solid rear axle(4.37 ratio) with stock Nissan leaf springs. I will be changing the gear ratio to 4.63 or 4.88. The motor is the same EA81 that ran the Rubicon. Approx 120 hp with a high torque cam and Weber carb. 5sp D/R trans. Still haven't decided about the new exhaust. It will run 31's. There are a couple other things as well but they must be proven to handle the stresses before I let people in on them. I don't want anyone getting hurt. The reasoning behind our mods. After seeing what rigs run the most difficult trails with ease and success it was a no-brainer. Now for the nay sayers. When does a 'yota stop being a 'yota? Most run diesel or Chev V-8's. When is a Jeep no longer a Jeep? Full tube frames and altered powerplants. I expected this exact reaction. So, I am not upset by it. I knew it would be mixed at best. Most people that have seen it in person are overwhelmed and impressed by the stance, clearance and the obvious ability that it shows. BTW, get used to seeing many more. I know of at least 3 that will have the solid rear. And once it is trail proven there will be more. Thanks for checking it out. I will have more info to come.

The Hatch Patrol story-the unveiling(with pics)
The Hatch Patrol Story It all started back in 1999. A few of us had met through the Ultimate Subaru Message board. We decided to attend a local event called the “West Coast Subaru Show”. We all drove in as a group and were deemed the Hatch Patrol by the promoter of the show, Geoffrey R. Back then we had only one lifted Subaru. That was Mike W’s Hatchback. We started talking about making a club for our little hobby. We decide that the direction we wanted to go was off-road. Since that day we have tried to raise the bar for what is expected and accepted for our Subaru’s. We have done things like rear disc brake conversions, 5 sp conversions, 6 lug conversions, radiator relocation, dual E-brakes, High performance engines, building bumpers, roll bars, installing different seat options, LSD conversions, XT6 alts, GM alts, on-board welders, on-board air. 3”-12” lifts, even V-6 swaps, and the latest, transfer case mods. Some of our exploits have taken us from the mountains to the shores to the desert. We were the first recorded and documented group of Subaru’s to take on the Rubicon Trail. We have driven the thousands of miles off-road. Seen some extraordinary country and made life long friends along the way. Our experience at the Rubicon Trail plus taking a few runs with some local rock crawling groups has lead us to find ways of increasing suspension travel and reliability. With this in mind, take into consideration the Eric Zap, John(Mudrat), Robert(lumpycam) and I have been discussing different options for the last 3 years. What I am about to show you is the culmination of those thoughts and the efforts of some very creative people. The finished product is still a couple weeks off but I have driven it(without brakes and exhaust) and I think it will make the Brat a formidable contender on any and all 4WD trails. http://usmb.net/gallery/album255

OK. Let's talk about this picture.
Adam, that was only half done. Corky, every time I look at it the smile returns. Mudrat,... Scooby, no Suzuki running gear. The 6 lug conversion has been on it since I lifted it.

Stud stuff!
Thread and pitch are 12x1.25. I have no idea on length.

OK. Let's talk about this picture.
This isn't a competition(so to speak). It is about pushing the limits and raising the bar. I apologize to those that feel left out. But, I want this to be done right and it will be. Once debuted there will be full documentation of it. I'm glad to see that there is still an interest in what the HP is up to. Sometimes it seems like we have made the rare and impossible mundane. It's cool to know we still shake things up a bit.

wanted info on how to break down a vin#?
I believe you have the engine number off the bellhousing, and the number is from a EA81 motor, which may not translate with an EA82 manual. I'll take a peak at a manual.

Subaru Brat?
The Brat was sold in the states until 1987. I believe it was sold in Australia until 1991 and apparrently 1994 in other parts of the world. We also never got the long bed or the 2wd Brat either.

Finally posting pics '79 coupe

I'll fess up to teasing Rob. I just kept telling him that he shouldn't collect parts for something he didn't have yet.:-p

Weber throttle linkage - the right way.
Not to step on any toes but this is my answer to the linkage problem and didn't cost a thing. All the relevant parts came off of the Hitachi I had just removed. This way also eliminates the wear groove most encounter in the sheathing for the cable.

WOW, what a nightmare!!!
Well, after a week of fighting my computer I am finally back on line. After many hours of downloading virus software and patches I find that the problem was not a virus but a constipated computer. It basically was so full of stuff that it just couldn't take it any more. $40.00 and a two hour phone call with Hewlett Packard I am back up and running. Some things I learned from this experience, Adaware isn't all it's cracked up to be. You do need to do the system utilities from time to time. Actually, a disc clean up at least once a week and a defrag at least once a month. The tech at HP gave me a site called Xcleaner. It cleaned all sorts of stuff that the other programs missed. So, all is well and I'm back!!

weber help
I would put the old coil back on and see if it will start. Depending on which coil you installed there have been reports of some bad accell coils surfacing.

Ok Gurus...figure this one out!
'85's were an odd lot. I know of an '85 GL10 MPFI(non-turbo) 2wd auto. It has all the options but doesn't have the standard moonroof that was part of the GL10 pkg. I would say the VIN will be the deciding factor. The rest is just fluff anyways.
