  1. The wheels on the "little" Brat are Sen Dels. The company still exists but these wheels were made in the 70's or early '80's. I have not seen another set like them. They are 14's BTW. The wheels on the "BIG" Brat are Les Schwab(Ultra) steels. They have the standard rear wheel drive offset. And as requested there are more "Daylight" pics in my gallery. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=561
  2. Q#2: Actually, these are set up with mileage counters that are electronically controlled. Under the dash you'll find two blue connectors and a black connector. Which ever set is hooked up, unhook it and reconnect it to the other connector.
  3. I was goofing around in the driveway.
  4. I'll check my stash. I may have one.
  5. In your defense, there were two posts regarding this. The first original and a second that covered the problems and such. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18407&highlight=poster Either way. Send me the info and I'll get it forwarded it to you. We appreciate any additional coverage we can get. Ken
  6. First, you can not "adjust" the timing on a 2.2l. Second, I would use a fuel system cleaner designed for FI. The best I have found is REDLINE fuel system cleaner. It is not a petroleum based product, completely synthetic, and does a greta job. Has anyone pulled the codes yet? That's where it should start. Pull codes then fix those issues. It could be something as simple as an O2 sensor giving a bad reading. Or the beginnings of a cat that is starting to plug. BTW, I am moving this to the new gen forum for better coverage.
  7. Do you need the stock driveline length? Are you putting a 5sp in ther at any point? I have a custom driveline for a hatch with 5sp conversion. But I do not have any stock hatch drivelines anymore.
  8. Take the bolt out. Use cheesecloth to filter the dirt that may be in the tank or around that may fall into things. Safer than using a pump. Just need a gas can close to the amount of gas left in tank. Then get a large funnel. I have one that has about a 12" diameter but the nozzle end fits into the gas can.
  9. It is indeed alot of work and expensive. One was built a few years ago by a guy in Colorado. I remember it took 3 or 4 trannys to make one. I also believe they had to do some special machining. Using a turbo FT4WD trans in low is not the same. They do not have the same displacement and will be a dog. I have seen 3.70 finals used in off-roading. Let's just say that by the time they got back home they were already installing a 3.90 trans. So, to answer your question. Difficult at best. Expensive?..probably. Worth it?...hard to say. My suggestion would be to install a trans from an non turbo car from '85 to '88. I believe they started playing with the gear ratios after those years. Not for the better either.
  10. Sounds like custom bumper time. I have the standard tow hooks bolted to the front bumper. I also have a slide in receiver the has a turn buckle attached to it that fits front or rear.
  11. Well, technically it is your fault. The directions in the original thread told you to contact me and I would have the file sent to the store of your choice. They do not archive to a national database. It is archived locally and they will email the folder to the store near you. I need the address and store number and see if you can get an "attention of" person. Then I can have my local store send it off. After they have the file it is a piece of cake.
  12. The rock guards you speak of are also the backing plates/caliper mounts. You'd have to seperate them for sure. For street use you'd probably get away with it but off road they would come into contact with all sorts of stuff.
  13. Not quite yet but he will be within the next two days. His evenings will be available and he wants to know if anyone is around Lincoln. If so post here with contact info and I'll forward it to him. Or you can email me with the same if you don't wish to publish it to the world. Qman4x4@comcast.net
  14. They are the same. I don't know if they are rated the same but the replacement torsion bars are the same part number between the Brat and the Hatchback.
  15. Check times son. 20th in the event. 3rd in class with it popping out of gear. LOL Besides, you can run in any class you qualify for. Certain vehicles shouldn't have been in PGT anyway. PGT=ZERO mods or tires!
  16. We are getting close enough to try to figure out how many people are going to be there. Vote on the poll and then add a post as well please. And... I'll start, we should have 5 in our group.
  17. It will all bolt up just as the 5sp swap.
  18. Yes, I know Jason personally and he is very competent. They are good people to deal with as well. And, I have recommended them on several occasions here as well.
  19. First, let me address a couple of tihngs. Eric's Brat was indeed offroaded. The statement was that it was too nice for HIM to offroad. It is another fine example of Eric's handy work. Evans Creek is indeed not a place for everyone. But... there are areas for everyone. We have taken vehicles from completely stock to insanely modified through there. Second, all members should keep in mind that your personal opinion is just that. It is your opinion. The final decision to do anything lies with the owner. To offroad or not isn't anyones decision but the person that pays/works to have it fixed. Indeed, one for the street, one for the woods, one for the rally track and so on. Each owner has there own idea of what there vehicle is best at. Other's do not have to like it and should not really have a say in what they choose to do. On that note, for all that choose to attend the Evans Creek gathering. I'll see you there and keep up if you can.
  20. I met a guy who says he has a friend in So-Cal who has a V-8 Brat. They blew the motor and proceded to tear out the running gear. They used a 327 and T-350. I don't know/remember what they did for a rear end though. Became rear wheel drive without 4WD. I have thought about adding an aluminum 215 V-8. Not much more weight then the 1.8 but heeps of torque and HP to boot. Very buildable power plant.
  21. Yes, that is it. Most tool truck sellers refer to these as air bag sockets.
  22. Have you readjusted the hill holder cable? I could see a mix up if this was an '85-89 EA81 vehicle. But there is only one measurement for the '84's. Check your hill holder to verify that it is releasing the clutch as well.
  23. Looks very nice Garner.
