  1. The two-piece driveline is the right length. Just need to have a center mount installed. Alot less money than having a one piece built. One piece drivelines have been used in Ed's Brat and a couple of Hatchbacks. Qman
  2. A turbo Legacy! Wagon or Sedan?
  3. I have a first gen guard that can be slightly modified to fit your EA81 vehicle. Qman
  4. My guess is an XT6 or SVX. I don't think you've had either of those. Ken
  5. Richie has the only one I have personally seen. I know there are a few still around though. They were sent to Cali and Arizona to be done. Most if not all were built from fwd GL10 coupes from '83 and '84. Qman
  6. What method did you use to line up the timing belts? Are the marks on the cam gears both up or both down or opposite of eachother? Qman
  7. That's right Ed. When I broke the stub on the Rubicon I was up and running again in 15 minutes. But that too depends on which end of the stub you break. Qman
  8. The one thing you will have to do is change the driveline. The one piece from your Hatch will be too short. The two piece from the EA82 donor will be too long. So, unless you have the capabilities to do driveline work you will have to pay to have it done. The cheapest route will be the one piece set up. Other than that all you need should be available between the two cars. EA82 flywheel, clutch disc and pressure plate, throw out bearing. The bolt holes will be a little bit bigger than the EA81 flywheel. This shouldn't be a concern. Just make sure you use blue loctite when you put in the flywheel. Good luck, you'll enjoy it. Qman
  9. Very good links Mike. I'll check them out more when I have more time to read. Ken
  10. Email or post attention to Chef Tim. He did this exact thing and should have all your answers. Ken
  11. I think the specs call for 80w/90 but the Castrol should be just fine in both. Ken
  12. Here's what I see. The fuel tank really limits air flow. But that is obviously where it needs to go. What is the original application of that radiator? It looks kind of small. I think some sort of ducting could be the answer. Either from the bottom or the left side. Do you have any pics with the seats and body panels on it? You might need to relocate the radiator to the front of the motor. Ken
  13. Have you verified that the disty is turning? I don't know the history or what caused the current problem. Care to shed some light on this for me. Qman
  14. Very good information. I do need to make one correction though. The EA71 did indeed come in a hydraulic application. The JDM(Japanese Domestic Market) EA71 had hydraulic lifters. Qman

Thanks to Tim and Tony. We really do appreciate the fact that some people took notice of us as more than a threat. We were there for the thrill and got what we bargained for. If/when we do this again we will look you up. Tony, it was a tough decision to turn around at that point but we decided it would be the best for all involved. Ken '86 Silver Brat(the little one)
  16. I just did some checking and Naches is definitely closed. It appears that all the ORV parks are open though. Qman
  17. I just checked the fire reports. Evans is open and does have a couple of small campgrounds. There will be NO fires in the forest this summer. It would take a couple of weeks of straight rain to remedy this. There are many trails we haven't been on at Evans that may be interesting besides I have a date with upper 311 for a little get even. The other's would be good as well but Walker really isn't for the greenhorn or non 4 wheelers. Elbe is sort of the same as Walker. Sultan Basin has miles and miles of forest roads and I'm sure there are quite a few trails to run as well. Let us know what you come up with. Ken
  18. I'm a little confused here. There are no metal cooling lines connected to the radiator. Automatic transmission cooling lines go to the radiator but have nothing to do with cooling system. A/C condensor lines go from the drier to the condensor but also have nothing to do with cooling. I would have someone look at it in person before any work is authorized. Qman
  19. It may be the wiper control under the dash. The most likely culprit is the wiper motor itself. It is pretty easy to replace. Qman
  20. Jamie, I don't know if you have any of the Hatch when I ran it before the "Taste". But if you do I'll gladly take them. Save the stamp and send them with Gary. I can pick them up on my way home. Let me know what you have and when you send them. Thanks, BTW, you moving North or South or staying in the same area? Ken
  21. The Hatch tank is smaller than all the rest. I will not fit without modification as far as I know. You could set them side by side a verify what the differences are though. K
  22. As far as tank types, there are 5 different types for EA81 cars. 2wd and 4WD for Brat's, wagons, sedans and 2wd coupes. The Turbo's had their own tank and the Hatch has it's own tank, either 2 or 4WD. For EA82 cars there is indeed only one tank. It has the dimple in the tank so that the diff will fit. As far as fitting a 2wd tank into a 4WD EA81 car. It will require dropping the entire rear suspension to 4". Anything less will require massaging the tank if you will. A 2wd tank in the Hatch will give you about 1 1/2 more gallons of fuel. Not really that much considering the amount of work required. Q
  23. Woody, why do you think people have the impression of the POR? My guess is it's people like you who shoot of their mouths with nothing to gain. Maybe you should go back and read any and all the posts on your board. If you feel bad because we tried what hadn't been done before or threatened because of where we did indeed get to Oh well. We did have damage just like any other participant on the trail could expect. So, why is it such a big deal that we broke things? Oh, BTW, I only broke one thing and it took 15minutes to fix. I didn't have rocker or chassis damage. My door all work just fine and as a matter of fact it looks the same now as it did coming off the trailer going in. See ya' I'm out.
  24. OK, at this time it looks like I will be able to make it. I don't know which day I will be rolling in or how long I can stay but I will make an appearance all the same. Ken
  25. Hmmm, Not much to add except that those who supported us rock...those who didn't:moon: We did what we set out to and more. We took three mostly untested rigs into the 'Con" and drove them out. We had damage but not what we were told would happen. Suspension and axle damage but not any body damage to be seen. This is not a trail for the faint hearted or unexperienced. BTW, I took my Brat in with about 50 miles on a new motor and drove it like I stole it then drove it back to Eugene. We stopped and chatted with many drivers along the way. I'm still tired from the week. I'll add more later. Qman
