  1. Thx, Rooinater, I'm also gonna get a few "ARMY", "AIRFORCE", "NAVY"& "MARINES" stickers to go on the sides ... might also put "Osama or bust!" or something on the nose cone :-p ... I saw some pretty interesting slogans/messages airmen were putting on the bombs soon to be dropped in Afghanistan ... maybe I can get a good Idea from those if I can remember the web site ... doh! You won't believe the deal I got on that extender! $20!! it had been sitting at my favorite gun/pawn shop and he was tired of seeing it
  2. yep, looks like the Discoverer Radial SST with a different name on the side have to pay a little extra to get my SST's in a 14 tho ... wish I could get them as cheap as Northguy in Alaska! $240 mounted!!! I'm gonna pay closer to $350 mounted here in Montana ... still not bad tho
  3. I got this crazy idea to make my brat a bit more noticable ... and a plain white tube for holding pipe is just boring! I'm using my Brat for my backflow assembly business so I thought it would be a good eye catcher ... don't worry tho .... I am getting the brat painted black asap ... something else that is going to be fun, B.A.T. stands for Backflow Assembly Tester, so instead of putting "Brat" back in the usual places, it will simply say "BAT" :-p Oh ya ... and the nose cone is removable, so when I am not working, I can take it to a friend's field and use it as a "potato cannon" ... not actually gona use potato's tho, 4" is too large and I would want something reusable ... maybe a nerf ball or a rubber ball
  4. Don't feel bad ... I once took my chevy 350 PU to a mechanic to find out why it was loosing power and discovered that the air filter was almost black!!
  5. Well, I guess this is the name I WILL give my brat once it's painted black, but it will be "Little Black Monster" the grill will be replaced with one that I will design to look like a mouth with red teeth against the black should look nice
  6. from the sounds of it, could be classic over-rich from a dirty carb, how do the plugs look? I have never used the seafoam, but I think to really know that a carb is clean you need to disassemble it and boil it out with acid, check all the jets/circuits with a torch tip cleaner and compressed air to make sure they are flowing free ... then you KNOW the carb is truly clean
  7. sad to hear about that ... it's amazing ... the lower your IQ, generally the more distructive you are ... on that note ... I SECOND the motion on the 12 GA but never mind the 00 buck shot ... I'd use rocksalt ... I'd rather they scream in pain than die
  8. Good to know, thx Tim I just scored a NICE deal on some 14" steel pugs ... $62.50 for 5!! Couldn't pass them up So maybe as soon as next month I will get some 14" SST's
  9. :devil grin: I should make a copy of this thread and leave it on the windshield of this guy's can MUAHAHAA!!! It will make for a nice kick-off for this year's fire season
  10. gotta look under "SUV tires" to find the 14's ... but if they are gonna discontinue them soon, maybe I should get 15" pugs hmmmmm here's the link from Cooper for the 14's http://www.coopertire.com/us/en/ProductDetails.asp?ProdType=SUV&id=28
  11. I have a '85 brat and I want the best compromise of getting better off-road tire selection w/o making crazy mods and losing the great gas mileage ... I am thinking of using 14" pug wheels and going with the Cooper Discovery STT's they are P205/75 R 14's ... anyone know if these are simply a bolt on or will I have to pound on my fenders? :-\ I don't mind the Idea of pounding in the fender wells too much, just as long as I don't have to cut the outside of the fenders ... I want my brat to remain as stock as possible untill I can afford to Ozify with the 4"/3" lift kit ... Anyone been able to use this tire set-up on a stock gen 2 brat? PS ... also like to know how much this will affect the speedo/tach thx
  12. When I learned that Subaru was part of Fuji heavy industries, I had an interesting idea. With the advent of Bio-diesel that you can basicly manufacture in your garage, why not see if there is a diesel engine made by Fuji could be made to work well in a Subi ... maybe it's just a crazy idea, but well with the $2/ gallon gas prices, it's one dream I'd love to see come true
  13. ROFLOL!!! gotta love it ... the "MT" perspective btw ... know any Gen 1 Brat owners that need a topper? I'm in Msla :-p
  14. thx for all the suggestions, I just cut the cable a bit shorter (then had to cut down the cable housing because I cut it TOO short DOH! ) and all is well again .. just have to find someone that sells those universal make your own cable kits and make one ... the dealer wants $50!
  15. hmmmm .... that makes sense, any ideas on how to get it back open?
  16. grrrr I have slack in the cable that pulls the release, but it doesn't seem to move the mechanism at all ... never had this happen on any vehicle before doh ... I have annother latch from an '83 brat that could replace mine ... IF I can ever get it to open arrrg!
  17. Good point Hiergehts, I didn't notice the "ford" on the tail-gate untill today when I looked at it more closely and took pics ... the shape of the ford courier tail-lights are very distinct
  18. Ya ... I hear that ... I was born in Portland OR, but as far as I am concerned I didn't find home till I moved to Msla 7 yrs ago, then I joined the Air Force, and now after 5 years of that, I am back to stay
  19. I should have done a close-up of the bead ... they have an out-board motor laying in it I agree ... and I think it's almost as ugly as the Baja ... I wish that they made the Baja like an up-dated Brat instead of something like the avalanche ... and to think that Subaru came up with that idea
  20. w00t! wsup Jamal  How's the traffic in LA? I came back to get out of the city ... gonna move down the bitter root soon ... less people, more game and more close off-road areas Got you home-sick yet? :-p
  21. naw .. I can't claim responsibility for it It's pretty interesting tho .. just had to take a pic and show you all ... they really did an amazing job ... looks like they attached the last few feet of a ford courier's bed to it ... it's not what I would do, but they did make it look factory
  22. (Subaru Hunter Voice) Well lookie 'Ere! We've finnally tracked down the Elusive "Foreja" ... a rare Hybrid Species of Subaru formed by the chance mating of a Forester and a Baja ... just look at her! Such a beauty! lets see if we can get in closer with-out starling her ... just look at her coloring! We're very lucky to find such a rare .... WAIT! look at that!! "F" "O" "R" "D"?!! on the tail!??! Hmmmm maybe there IS some question as to who the father really is?! (Subaru Hunter Voice)
  23. thx again I'm gonna have to OZify my brat soon and get some pug wheels ... gonna have to go see what cooper offers in 14's and 15's and see which has the best narrow & tall tire combo
  24. great! thanks for the info what are the skinnyiest and tallest aggresive tread tires anyone has fit into a Gen 2 brat? (gonna start hitting the junk-yards )
