  1. well if your going to pay that much for paint, wouldn't you want someone with a good deal of experiance doing the job? I'm definatly what you'd call a do-it-yourselfer, but man ... if I was going to have to pay $800 for the supplies, I don't think I would want to take a chance with my own very limited skill (that's just me, maybe you have lots more experiance painting) Just something I thought I would point out When I paint mine, I am going to be only paying about $250 - 300 for the paint + primer, but I'm not exactly sure if this laquer paint I want to use is compatable with the exsisting subaru paint, if it is, other than time, I should have little more than $400 max into the job and my time. When I want a really nice paint job, (when I can afford it) I will give it to the local classic car builder and pay him $2,000 to do it best.
  2. good info here! I am getting ready to paint soon and I need to remove some of the adhesive from the trim ... where did you find your tea tree oil Karinvail? *edit* P.S. oh and I also had a question about paint ... I'm not looking to match my current paint, but would anyone know what base type of primers/paints will be compatible? Can we just use a laquer based paint?
  3. ok, I'll bite ... here's my list: 1. Fix what little rust I have and paint it black 2. get tires for my 14" pugs 3. buy & install a BYB 4x3 lift 4. buy and install "A" style brush guard 5. recieve (free from tailgatewagon ) 5 spd DR trany and install that's it for now, and I'd LOVE to have all that done for WCSS7 ... hmmmm are there such things as Subaru Elves?
  4. sounds good, always nice to see a clean subie
  5. :slobber: :slobber: PICS!!!! please so ... do any of these crackheads with subs have phone numbers?
  6. I have been wondering if I should goto a custom pipe once my cat pluggs up, but I wouldn't want to go so radical that it changes the power curve, or that I can't keep it with-in adjustment of my stock carb ... maybe I should just goto a custom pipe and weber carb at the same time ... does anyone make after-market pipes with close enough flow rates to still get full adjustment with the stock carb?
  7. hey is that the subie your parting out? something like "you can have anything that you can drag away yourself ..." j/k
  8. I'm not at all farmiliar with the loyale, and I'm assuming it's an ea-82 with fuel injection? well, I don't even know if it would have a vacuume controlled timming advance or not, but I had a vehicle that did this very same thing, and all it turned out to be was a failed vacuume advance on the distributor. Someone know if this would even be a posibility on this engine? Just throwing an idea out there for the experts to look into
  9. oops ... my connection sucks sometimes ... sorry for the repeat
  10. woot! gratz on the right decision!! I myself reciently bought my second subie, but first one that I can really take out in the woods, an '85 brat ... when I get caught back up after this month's expenses I will be taking it out on the pugs and some cooper P205/75R 14" Discoverer Radial STT's
  11. hmmm are the mechanics at that shop the same guys in the GEICO comercials with excessive body hair?
  12. all I can say is WOW!! ... that one get's my vote ... and here's annother nice "honorable mention" http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/brats/cbrat/cbrat2.jpg
  13. LOL!!! you know, a low power microwave is PERFECT ... they would suddenly become violently sick and put breakfast and lunch all over the leather seats!! :devil grin: and they wouldn't have a CLUE why I have annother idea that I might do too ... you know those tire-inflation tanks called "cheetas"? the ones that have something like a 2 inch pipe comming out of a large tank used to put a sudden high volume of air to bead-up truck tires? well, I have this pathetic old air compressor that is just about worthless anyway, so I could say, attach a solenoid valve to a 1/2" hose going the back of the cannon, and once I build up the desired presure hit the switch and WHOOM! same effect as using propane :-p
  14. hmmm maybe that year didn't get enough fairie dust to keep working right :-p

    tracked subie

I went to the site yesterday and put in my personal info, and believe it or not, I got a call from them on my cell phone today  He quoted me approximatly $24,000 to get some for my brat, so it's ONLY $24k
  16. LOL!! that's pretty interesting, I have an '85 brat too and mine seems to have lost half of the "bells" instead of the "ding-dong" it goes "ding-donk" as if someone holds their hand against the bell when it's trying to ring ... I like my unique door bells

ROFLOL!!! "excuse me mr bank, but can I get a loan on $50,000 Mattracks for my $2,000 brat?" man if I had the money I guess it wouldn't matter, but I dunno if I could still justify that kinda cash for these trax ... guess they look better than they are ... but of course you don't see them having any trouble with un-even terrain in the vids ... but if they did, they would just not show anything but positive stuff on the site ... interesting idea tho
  18. here's a great site for factory black paint and a couple of customs ... it's brats, but I gotta say that the pic in my sig and the other back brats on this site look sweet! here's the site: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/brats/brats.html :edit: oops here's the right section to look under ... look under "Specifications" for a great pic of a Gen2 black brat like this one: and here's the direct link to that black brat pic ... enjoy! http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/specs/general/1985brat.html
  19. you know, I was told the price of the mixture controll solenoid (read fuel enrichment circut solenoid) and ONLY after he checked for another 2 hrs he told me it was not available ... hmmm maybe they should purge the data-base of unavailable parts ... might be a problem beyond the dealer in my case, but then again this is Missoula MT ... there are 1940's flatbeads still being used by many farmers!! if it aint broke, it doesn't get fixed (or replaced) much here and every time I look I see annother brat or other older subie
  20. the more I learn about my EA-81 the more I am happy that I have one
  21. w00t! well I finnally made the cap with a lantern striker and propane torch tip glued into it, and I found a small nerf-like soccer ball that fits nicely ... just need to take it somewhere to test out the cannon!! what I'd really like to get to fly out of it is one of these ... http://www.hasbro.com/pl/page.viewproduct/product_id.13880/dn/nerf/default.cfm too bad they are too small for the 4" tube ... maybe I can modify a regular nerf foot-ball and add a tail
