  1. Thanks, 1. Where, oh where is the throttle position sensor, and what does it look like? 2. New fuel filter, and pressure is good. 3. Will do spray bottle test on wires after it gets dark.
  2. Really acted up Saturday and Sunday, dry, not even muuch humidity. When it starts cutting out it will run fine if you floor it, or feather it, just nowhere in-between. This time I actually heard it backfireing when it missed (didn't know EFI 'could' backfire ... live'n'learn). This time it finally threw a CEL while it was acting up. OBDII code P0420 the old 'somewhere in the catalytic universe' code. Other than checking connections, where do I start replacing parts on the shortest possible road to a cure (which is all the stealership will do ... 'cept they'll take the longest road).
  3. What has four legs and one arm? A starving rottweiler. I 'like' the glued on razorblades a lot. The problem is that you end up with biohazard in your car!
  4. Wow, he musta meant it, left so fast he couldn't even finish tehe sentance! Ta ta, mate.
  5. Ahem, he blushes, aw shucks Paulie, it was such a short date too. Diet is mostly Mediterranian; lots of fresh veggies, done with a little chicken, fish, occassional red meat (we favor buffalo, but that's probably not a back east option). Pastas, olives lots'a hot peppers and garlic, rice, beans, Mexican and asian often. Between us we typically split a bottle of wine daily, usually red. Beer now and then, hardly ever hard stuff. The occassional cigar. We only eat out once or twice a month. Almost never fast food, if we must - Subway, Blimpies or Quizno's. When we travel we eat the local foods, wherever we are. We have a membership at our community fitness center and work out 45 mins after work, once in a rare while an hour on Sat. Summers we hike when we can fit it in, and of course winter ski, that's why we moved to Whitefish. Winter also includes blowing and/or shoveling the 120' drive when it snows, that counts as exercise, and every summer we buy a load of cut rounds and I split a cord or so, which I really like to do, great tension/anger management tool! This summer we only biked twice (we've got an old Schwinn-Twinn), and canoed two or three times. Flying is regular when the plane is in action (which it's still not). The Pretty One (Roberta), is the real athelete in the family, she taps, does Hula, and when I'm on the cross-trainer (easiest on my ancient knees) she's swims or goes to yoga for 45 mins. Prayer every morning and hot tub every night.
  6. Some have talked about going to OZ, this is a can't beat it airfare, best I've EVER seen. R/T to Aus. + three in-country legs, for under a grand. http://www.statravel.com/Statravel/centermain.aspx?MenuID=1003S3 OH, it's good for a whole year, and they have a link to help you find a temporary job in Austrailia. We get this link, because my wife works for the state and uses this discount company for her seminar trips. Man. I wish I could quit work and do this right now, summere's coming and the surf is UP! Fair dinkum, mate.
  7. Noah, somewhere rattling around in the basements are my posts about jumping in my winter camo 87GL and driving straight through from Whitefish, MT to Baltimore, MD in 54 hours. Only used one qt of oil too. Then I went bashing around in the Pine Barrens with moosens and the east coast gang ... does that count? That said, the Cannonball run I made back to home when I bought my '95 Leg in Chicago was a LOT more comfortable! OH, add on - we got beds for two folks who aren't bunk buddies.
  8. From Michigan? Well, the passes are wide open, but whaddyou care, you're driving a Subaru aren't you? Well, if you're THAT gung-ho, we'll put you up in Whitefish for a night each way (well, the return trip stay depends on your behavior on the outbound stay). Highway 2 is a good road from MI to Spokane, then hit I-90 for the bridge to the peninsula. pm me if you're interested ... hell, we put up with Miles Foxx and the manic film crew, we can handle anything now!
  9. Our 2000 Legacy has been behaving exactly like this for several months. Not temperature, humidity, rpm, time/miles driven, or phase of the moon related. No CEL, won't do it often or severe enough to take it in for an attempt at a diagnostic. I did change out fuel filter (the fuel in it was perfectly clear). Most frustrating.
  10. We were running around like crazy contacting long-lost family scattered all over ... an ex brother-in-law (brother-out law?) in Orcas, an aunt and cousins on Shaw, a niece on Whidby ... meeting my daughter at SEA. All that and learning ferries too! Once the kids get moved in we can just take the train to Edmond and have them pick us up at Kingston. The property is about two or three miles south of the golf course/resort and backes up to a big chunk of state land on a gravel road that connects the highway to a lake park (can't remember the name). We did real well on navigating and never missed (or waited longer than ten minutes) for a ferry. Even managed some museum/aquarium time and shopping/lunch at Pikes Market. Oh, know a good roofer? If we can't get the house reroofed by 12/05 we will have to pay for it ourselves, 'cause we won't be able to put it into the 1031 exchange. Big old A-frame. I want to punch in dormers to open up the loft and add some space.
  11. Won't be there, but it must be a nice place, we sure liked the area when we were out last week. Counter offer has been accepted on the Port Liudlow property (not suitable for wheeling, however). Guess we'll be part time neighbors, the property is in the Chimacum school district. We booked an el cheapo rental from Dollar and they ended up giving us an Avalon, There was a whole fleet of new Outbacks, but I couldn't talk 'em into one ... maybe next time.
  12. We need studs for our 120' driveway - ALL WINTER. Once we hit the streets, we could do fine without them. In fact, we could do without Subarus, once we get out of our driveway. Montana takes real good care of winter roads. OH, and studs are legal from Nov - May.
  13. Starting our third season on a set of Hankooks. Still have all the studs (well, I didn't count 'em, but they look like they're there) too.
  14. We've driven our '00 Legacy thirty miles in unplowed 18" deep snow, with no problems and great glee and enthusiasm. That, however, was Rocky Mountain powder, not Maritimes cement.
  15. Go in, ask for the owner, and if he is unavailable, the general manager and UNLOAD on them ... take your documentation and demand an explanation. If they shine you on, invite them to drive your car, and demand (on the spot) an SOA Field Rep! Now, you know why we call them stealerships (and/or idiots).
  16. One option is to match the tire brand, model, size, and have it shaved to the same wear circumferance (+/- 1/4") as the other three. Only practical if the rest of the tires are pretty new, otherwise, don't bother. Don't skimp here, you will trash the AWD.
  17. Craigslist had a Phillipine stainless steel flat fender Jeep body listed in Billings. Got me fantasizing about Subaru running gear in a WWII era Jeep, which what I learned to drive in at eleven. I love driving those old jeeps ... old roots die hard. I couldn't visualize the suspension, tho'. 'Sides, no new projects until my airplane is out of our garage.
  18. I looooove the Grumman Albatross in the background ... my dream airplane. I wanted one Before Jimmy Buffett got his ... alas, he had the money, some of it mine!. Oh, nice OBW too.
  19. Tanks' eh Zap, I kinda thought the guy was flakey from the first call.
  20. Well, My old Dad had plenty of 'issues' with tha AA stuff and Liberators, especially over Polesti ... man that B-24 came home FULL of holes!
  21. http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/102029701.html Imagine a Subaru conversion in this Ghia, too cool.
  22. Never try to keep up with an Aussie in a pub, learn to love Vegemite, mate.
  23. Fort Clatsup is where Lewis & Clark wintered over on the Oregon coast with the Corps of Discovery. The fort was a historical rebuild on the original ruins from 1806, and next year was to be the bi-centennial celebration at the fort. I hope they catch the arsonist and he gets a Federal bunk-buddy for the rest of his sick little life.
  24. We go stay da spoke plenny time bumbye, Allatime we go Spokane fo' get da airliner. Auwe dat da Scab Rocks kaukau stay maki-die-dead! Fak, I buy my wahine cah in Spokane.
