found a 14 inch pug steel at the yard today.. woo hoo! I needed a 5th one.. as an added bonus, this one has good rubber and the tire is the same size as the rest of my tires.. total price .. bout $14:D Thanks Mike and Steve for a very productive day at the yards

Well.. perhaps you could enlighten me.. as my wife just nixed any possibility in my participation of the scheme.....
-
you might also consider putting some rubber insulators anround them and putting a nice high amperage charge on them when you are away from the car.. burn the crap out of anyone that touches them:brow:

There's a bit more to it than that.. disconnecting the tie rod end and such.. use the search function of the board, there are some really good breakdowns of axle R&R somewhere around here.. plus you are doing it on an impreza.. the rules may be a little different.. Don't know. The tool was an axle puller.. it pulls the axle through the hub.. real subaru part.. borrowed it from Qman back when I was close enough to do that, instead of being down here in this subaru wasteland

this isn't a front cut, but could be useful http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2434161354&category=33615 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2434244266&category=33615 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2434568944&category=33615

its not usually that hard.. one generally doesn't have to take the spindle off of the strut.. but yeah, they can be a real pain to get back through the hub.. there is a special tool for it that made my life a lot easier when I did mine.. did 'em both at once.. hopefully I won't have to do them again for a while

If I recall, that car was represented as being straight.. When I asked the seller about the "electrical problems" they neglected to tell me about the wiring in the dash being so messed up.. thats lame stuff.. at least you got those cool wheels that were on it!

Actually oddcomp.. I believe there is one lonely 9000 turbo at a crappy yard in ft worth.. I know its a 9k.. know its a turbo( I helped someone pull the turbo off of it last weekend).. not sure if its a 5 spd though.. see my post a few responses up about it being the worst wrecking yard I have ever been to.. However, I believe they charge a flat rate for motors and trannys regardless of what they are from.. something like $50 for trannys

Yoohoo boys and girls.. we got ourselves a meeting time/place yet? Steve..PM coming your way

Jeez Caboobaroo.. you sure do ask a lot for a free car:D

tell em to fix the overheating.. , the body damage, scrub it with a toothbrush by hand, inside outside and under the hood.. then make it a couple of years newer and you will give them 2k for it

Where Can I Find Split Boot Cv's
calebz replied to oregonloyale's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Observations from personal experience: My 2wd and 4wd axles had the same diameter shafts. but, given the age of the soobs I have had, its doubtful any were original.. so the axles could have come from anywhere. None of the remans I have bought ever came with castle nuts.. so all of my nuts are 36mm(deez some big nutz:brow: ) All auto and N/A manual are 23 spline. Turbo manual is 25 spline.. also found that out the hard way:rolleyes: -
Needed EGR selenoid and Purge valve selenoid.

This might be a dumb question.. but have you tested the solenoids, or are you going strictly by info from the ECU? -
Hmmmm.. I have a white GL-10 TurboWagon.....
-
You can always do it the right way and keep it legal.. Look at electrycmonk's wagon.. 2.5 inch from the turbo back with one little 3way cat that has 2.5 inch in and out.. performance gain, passes emissions, good for the trees, and still legal.. since my exhaust is pretty well toasted, thats my next upgrade.. and the smog nazis here can tell if you aren't on the up and up

Shouldn't matter 85-86 4wd are adjustable 2wd is shorter than 4wd 87-up 4wd is the same length as the adjustable ones set all the way up Why did your hatch have to come from a GL.. ? Why didn't the DL work.. did it have to do with the rear window wiper or something?

Well.. I'm going to let you guys pick the place.. I am clueless about that area.. I will probably hook up with mike and steve up here and follow them down. Todd.. I know you sent me your phone numbers.. but.. well.. I lost them.. actually, I lost all the emails I got that week due to computer problems.. long story

I was told there are a whole buttload of yards in the general area of loop 12, but I have never been down there. I know my bio says dallas, but I'm actually in mckinney.. bour 25 miles north of dallas.. I just put dallas down because no one knows where mckinney is... hmm.. maybe I will change that Okami is in Denton
