  1. I believe the starter differences are for 2wd and 4wd, with the 2wd having a longer housing. I noticed this when I did my conversion.. my 2wd auto had a long bodied starter, and it wouldn't clear the vacuum module on my 4wd tranny.. thankfully my parts car had a wrecking yard starter in it with the shorter body.. fit right in. BTW.. The starter I am using in my 5 spd car came from a 3AT car
  2. Like I said in your other post.. just drive the loyale out her, draga a wagon from the yard, do the swap here and drive your new wagon home. In general, they can be found in the yards, straight and rust free.. I'll keep an eye out for a specific one to match your needs.
  3. Of course he's out to get as much as he can for it.. Thats the whole point of eBay.. I don't end auctions early either. When I sell something on ebay its to get as much as I can for it.. Not to be someones friend.. Note.. The above doesn't necessarily apply to soob parts..
  4. With the autos, the final drive is the same for Turbo and N/A.. 3.70
  5. I believe he's full of sh!t. I don't think there is any difference between Turbo and N/A on those trannies. I know the spline count is the sam on the axles.. although the turbo axles are supposed to be stronger(more bumps on the shaft)
  6. Doubt it got damaged.. might need to be cleaned out though. Still If I were to pin your problems on one area, that FI coolant temp sensor is where I would start. You state that you are getting knocking on acceleration.. what sort of knocking? we talking pinging? valve clatter(normal soob tick)? rod knock?
  7. I always give a warranty when selling a car to a friend or family member.. its the 5 minute/5 mile warranty.. if they are really good friends(and don't live too far away) I guarantee the car will at least get them home.. The worst thing is that once, on a fluke, I actually had to honor that 5/5 warranty.. thats embarrassing!
  8. Hmm.. never seen such a thing on my soobs.. I feel deprived.
  9. hmm.. This may apply to XTs only, but there are N/A MPFI motors
  10. Is your 'Check engine' light on? Have you gotten any error codes from the computer? Here's a link to reading soob codes. Soob Error Codes Also, a corroded, dirty FI Coolant Temp Sensor can play hell on your fuel mixture, in turn playing hell on emissions
  11. Not sure about the XT, but all the other EA82 cars have the fuel door release on the floor right next to the drivers seat, by the doorsill trim. Forgive me if this is a naive question, but what in the hell is a "winter/summer wiper selection switch"?
  12. Sounds like fun. I gotta head east sometime. I have hung out with the guys from WA, some from OR and even Brian from CA.. just yesterday I met Tim and Vicky from SD.. and of course the other 2 guys with turbo soobs up here in North TX.. Only place left to go is East! 8RXsedan, if you are just dying to do cam seals and an oil pump, come up and do mine. Dallas is a lot closer than Jersey:D
  13. Short answer, .. yes. Depending on the year, you may have to swap intake manifolds or something.. pretty easy.. easiest would be to find one that came with SPFI
  14. Clutch kits do not include flywheels. they generally include clutch disc, pressure plate and TO bearing.. If you want a new flywheel, you will pay very dearly for it. Try a wrecking yard for the flywheel 1stsubaruparts.com has the flywheel for an XT6 listed at around $225.. not as bad as I thought it would be
  15. I was just about to say that I had just seen dsome center caps somewhere.. the I remembered that they were on Chef Tim's wagon..
  16. Yeah, I'm with you. I got used to having to use the key after years of driving saabs, and old A-body dodges before that.. you can't them without using the key from the outside
  17. OTOH, my current wagon has the motor out of the one listed above and I average about 25mpg.. and it still doesn't run quite right.. I expect 28 or so after getting it running correctly.(soon)
  18. I averaged about 20 mpg in my 2wd turbowagon with the 3AT
  19. Careful about that.. The owner of a yard we frequent down here has a tendancy to wander the yard after hours full of beer and carrying his shiny new .357;)
  20. The car in question is A Full Time 4wd not Push button 4wd.. no fuse, no button. Corky is right on this one(as usual).. the best thing is definitely to get a full sized spare.
  21. Drive out west and buy a soob out of a wrecking yard. there are soobs in the yards here that ended up there because of a blown headgasket or a bad tranny.. lots of good bodies. For example, I recently saw an 85 wagon brought into a yard.. straight, rust free body. Interior was beautiful, with the exception of the rear cargo area carpet, which appeared to be oil stained. the thin was said to have a bad motor.. for a few hundred bucks, you could have yourself a new soob After you get one from the yard, have it taken to another board members house(work this out before hand) and swap drivetrains/interior and whatever else you want. haul the rusty hulk to the crusher. drive your new/old soob back to NY! (Tim.. does this sound like a familiar conversation?) I have to warn you though that a really high number of the EA82 cars I have seen in the yards down here are brown .. yuck
  22. Shawn, I will five you a heads up before I go to the pull a part next time. There were 2 14 inch alloys there last time.. and soob and pug stuff doesn't move very fast around here.
  23. Nope. My S/R, pushbutton 4wd tranny is out of a GL-10(definitely not a DL). I also know that Turbones turbo wagon has the factory S/R Pushbutton 4wd tranny in it.
  24. I sounds like one or both of them is a tooth off.. very easy to do.. if you rotate the motor by hand a bunch of times(10?-20?) do the cam marks still line up or are they slightly skewed.?
