All info below is given assuming you will be swapping in a non turbo, non RX type D/R tranny. ok.. here we go.. I just did the Auto to manual swap a few months ago.. I didn't use the D/R, I used the S/R but for the most part my info still applies. There was a reference above to cutting something or other.. Don't know what that is about.. there's no cutting to be done.. except a couple of wires for your reverse lights:D If you have the 3AT, the axle spline count will be the same as the D/R ( non-RX type) If you have the 4EAT,on a turbo car, they do indeed use the 25 spline turbo axles(thats new to me,but was given by a reliable source) Pedal assembly is a real pain. definitely the hardest part. You will need the rear driveline for a manual car. you will need a flywheel. you will need a clutch kit. These come with TO bearings, but don't generally come with the clips for the TO bearing.. you will need the tranny crossmember along with the rubber mount/bushings that go with ityo will also need the shifter assembly and center console trim pieces.. don't forget the reverse spring on the shifter linkage. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that you have the option of swapping out the master cylinder/brake booster for one that has the Hill Holder set up. I opted not to do that as I was in a time crunch. if you choose not to use that setup, you will have to have a seperate return spring on the clutch fork. You will also have to get the rear diff from the donor car, as yours is 3.7, and your new tranny will be 3.9. I'm sure there are a few things I missed. Its a big job, but its not as hard as it sounds. I will be happy to answer any specific questions you may have

Drilling Chevy 6 lug wheels?
calebz replied to MaroonDuneDoom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That means they are not straight bolt on.. that was my point.. to bolt right on.. not bolt on " when you're done with them" Ease of use, expedience, instant fitment. All of those things are worth money and time to the right person. I happen to be that person. Its great that you have an opinion on what wheels you like best. But your ideas of what you like best does not make all other options invalid or "silly". People have been running pug wheels with large tires (27-28 inch) very successfully for a long time. That in itself makes them a valid option. For example.. Lets stick with presenting options and try to steer clear of pissing contests, eh? -

There is something to be said for straight bolt on capability.... -
where can i find peugeot 505 wheels?
calebz replied to MaroonDuneDoom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Good luck.. If you do find new ones, they will be expensive since peugeots aren't imported into this country anymore, aftermarket stuff is nearly nonexistant.. all of us got ours from wrecking yards, other board members.. stuff like that. -

You can find them in the wrecking yards.. thats the best place.. or, of course other board members.. have seen a couple of sets for sale recently in the marketplace. I have 14 inch pug steels on my car.. got the set of 4 from a board member for $100.. then found a 5th for a spare a couple of weeks ago with tire(the right size even!) for $14.. they are around .. you just have to look for them.. the thing that makes them more desirable(in my opinion) is the fact that they have very nearly 0 offset, much like the soob wheels.. so there aren't strut clearance issues and other things that are possible with some 6 lugs. As for Adam breaking lugs.. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it too much, he's the only person I have heard of doing that, and he REALLY likes to break stuff.(not busting your balls adam, just making an observation ) -
You may need to alter your exhaust to clear the moustache bar after the lift.. also? you may need to mve your airbox, or lenghten the hose that goes to it. Mostly though.. you just need the lift

I was looking through some classifieds one morning, and i saw and ad for an 86 GL-10 turbowagon for FREE!.. As I had 3 soobs at the time, My wife said no.. Now Turbone is driving it around Lets see.. then there was my 87 GL-10 wagon I got for $100.. running and driving.. turbone has that one too now. Then there was my very first soob, My 88 GL-10 turboWagon.. Also got that one for $100.. only thing wrong was dirty connectors on the intake wiring harness . Had it for a couple of years before some dumb rump roast valet totaled it for me.. Funny.. Turbone has that one now too.. I'm starting to see a trend here.. -
Some questions about mounting a roof rack
calebz replied to MaroonDuneDoom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Its not the size that matters! Seriously though, the load bars are only that close together because I have them set up that way for the spare tire. I have had all of my camping stuff, two bikes and a set of golf clubs strapped to them.. Can't find the pic tight now, but it was a ton of stuff! The bars are usually farther apart .. like this -

Its the same engine as your 87 turbowagon was 1.8l Turbo EA82T with 115 HP.. Drivetrain is strong, But I don't recommend 4-5k clutch drops in anything. The downpipe/front cat is not limited to california cars.. they all came with it.. as well as the second cat underneath.. have a custom downpipe made with a nice 3 way cat for better flow. The turbo is capable of 15 psi, though most people don't run them that high. 10 seems good.. 12.5 if you have an IC -
I drove through evanston a couple of months ago.. I try to make it to CO about once a year.. maybe I can meet some of the CO/WY people next time I come up.. not sure when that will be yet though.

87 turbo GL: quick battery question
calebz replied to JohnR's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
put the car in D-check mode(connect the green connectors under the dash).. does your fuel pump cycle on and off every 1.5 seconds? can you hear the ignition relay click over every 1.5 seconds?.. and finally, are you getting any error codes? -
Gee.. and I thought I was the only one...... http://usmb.net/albums/albuo11/Picture_001.sized.jpg I have also had 2 Maroon wagons and a red one.. all EA82

how do ya tell the difference??
calebz replied to Meeky Moose's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The rear diff you have is open. LSD rear diffs are marked 'LSD' on the same tag that shows the gearing. All LSDs came as 3.7 rear diffs, with the possible exception of the XT6 with 5 spd Full Time 4wd. I have heard that some of them came with a 3.9 LSD, but I don't know if thats true. -

calebz replied to SubaRube's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
they're just cosmetic differences. The orange part on the 85-56 is larger than it is on the 87-94.. I personally prefer the look of the 87-94 style and try to use those on all the soobs I have had. I know the will cross fit. My 88 had 86 lights. my 90 also had 85-86 lights I believ.. and my current 87 had one of each when I got it. -
he probably had the cams custom grouund. The pics wouldn't come up any bigger than the thumbnail size, so I can't answer your questios about the wheels.. looked like they might be painted pugs... He wants 6,500.. and it doesn't run.. It will probably be for sale for a long time. Especially since he doesn't list any mods that he has done to that might make it worth that much.. in one pic you can see there isn't much inside.. thats the closest thing I could see to track mods.. oh well
