calebz replied to LUVMYBRAT's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yup.. limited slip.. and the had a little tag on the back of the diff cover that states what the gearing is(3.7 or 3.9).. if it is an lsd, it says... get this...... . . .. . .. . . . . .. . . .. . . . .. .. . LSD! :D -
Good eye skip. I missed that(brain didn't process the info)

Anyone tried the Khumo Venture MT's?
calebz replied to GeneralDisorder's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Coopers website doesn't list the S/T or STT in a 14 inch.. lame. I think they look cool.. would work well on my wagon here's the stt -

calebz replied to N8NQU's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
hmm.. not the first time I have been wrong.. I think its the second. -
the death of your flashers and windows is a new thing?.. check your fusible links.. on a wagon they are in a little black box by the coolant overflow tank.. sorry.. not sure where they are on an xt

Question on 1986 gl D/R sedan.57K miles
calebz replied to N8NQU's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thats kinda what I thought..never heard of any other pre-87 spfi's .. 2wd or otherwise. And I don't recall that the 86 fsm makes any mention of them either -
As far as I know most all 6 lug patterns are the same spread.. the thing to watch out for is offset..
-
hmm.. what makes you rhink the ECM/ECU is zapped.. when mine went up in smoke the car wouldn't even start!..no fuel pump, spark or injector pulses.. Unfortunately my knowledge doesn't extend to EA81 turbos, but on an EA82, there' s an electronically controlled valve that regulates idle when cold. there's also a coolant temp sensor that helps the ECU control fuel mixture. Have you tested the ecu? If you decide its going to the wrecker anyway, let me know

Question on 1986 gl D/R sedan.57K miles
calebz replied to N8NQU's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
will only be FI if its a turbo car.. otherwise, its got the hicrappy carb but .. one owner, clean and 57k make any old soob very attractive. How much are they asking? EDIT:.. Miles fox has an 86 with spfi.. but that isn't the norm.. apparently it was an experiment by subaru -
one thing to remember is that pugs work so well on our soobies because the offset is very nearly 0. Therefore that half-inch will only equate to 1/4 inch on either side of center
-
forgot to add that there is indeed a muffler there.. not sure what kind.. it is also 2.5 in and out I believe.. I never thought to ask about the os sensor.. good quesion
-
Glad to see another saabthusiast on the board.. my past 10 or so cars before I got my first soob were 900t's and a couple of 9000t's In answer to your question, if you want something on a new soob and it doesn't come that way here, chances are the rest of the world gets it(IE D/R trannies in bajas and outbacks)
-
I'm looking at doing the same thing soon Steve is running 2.5 inch from the turbo back.. looks much cleaner without that stupid stock downpipe. He kept his legal with a 3 way cat about halfway back.. does the job of the 2 cat setup that the soob has stock.. even the cat is 2.5 in and out.. sounds cool. wan't very expensive either if I recall

depends on the size of tire you plan on using..if you are planning on using something that stretches the boundries of you 6 inch wheels.. then you will have some problems.. what size tires were you considering?
-
This really depends on the sound your after.. I have been running sealed boxes for a long time.. vented/ported/bandpass boxes get better boom, but reach distortion levels at lower wattage. sealed enclosures get better thump. as far as the speaker "fighting against itself".. that isn't entireley true either. that fighting is what allows for higher wattage in sealed boxes. the airpressure behind the speaker stops the speaker from overtravelling its voice coil.. which is what causes fried subs. vented or sealed is a preference in sound, not necessarily o function of the speaker.. check the crutchfield compatibility chart somethime.. some speakers are designed for vented.. some for sealed.. some work in both.. then on top of that, there are, as miles stated, free air subs.

In need of engine rebild, LOTS of Q's
calebz replied to subynut's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Weber.. better exhaust. I think the swap to 1600 pistons only applies to EA81 -
Gee.. sure wish I would have known about that when I still had my damned PEUGEOT!! Oh well..:-\ Thanks.. BTW.. I know where a couple of 14 inch alloys are if anyone needs them I would put up some pics of which ones they are, but I am not sure where the wheels page is anymore
-
Gee.. I don't even have a brat and I kinda want one of these cool tailgates....
-
If you really want one, I have a 12v fan that is just the right size for this application.. its right in front of me.. I value it highly, but if your need is truly great I will let it go for only $150.. but only as a favor to a fellow board member:D
-
Thats funny.. those are the same wheels I have on my wagon.. been looking for another.. so what do I find at the yard?.. a 14 incher with the round holes.. oh well.. who says my spare needs to match:rolleyes: And for $14 with a good tire that was even the right size, I couldn't say no.

Yup, ... garbage.. been brought up lots of times. Search the archives

theres a bracket on the outboard side of the assembly. it attaches the assembly to a big chunck of the wiring harness.. sounds like you may have come across it already, given your reference to the" one other that was further up under the dash" If that one other is part of that bracket, .. well.. that bracket has 2 nuts.. look for another nut right next to the first one
