  1. Its possible you damaged the caliper if you used a prybar to compress them. they don't just push in. They screw in. Theres a little tool that sits in the slots inside the piston to screw them in with.
  2. Qman is right on about the boot. It simply keeps the crap out to prolong seal life. Speaking to a local subaru tech, I am told the rack is non-serviceable. I am replacing mine this weekend. Honestly its one of the easiest racks I have ever pulled from a car. Took about 20 minutes to pull my replacement rack from the parts car. a few basic hand tools and and a pickle fork (which can be rented from autozone), you could do it yourself.
  3. The biggest difference I noticed over stock was that with the stock setup, the car seemed to run out of breath at about 5500 rpms.. That is no longer an issue.
  4. Have you considered a job as a greeter at walmart or something? I'll bet you would be good at it
  5. Figured I would keep you in suspense until I know everything is going to work properly
  6. My tail lights quit somewhere between Tacoma and portland on my trip to Texas. Turns out theres a short in the combo switch on the steering column. Since I was in a hurry and needed to get back on the road, I hot wired the tail lights so they come on with the key. it hs worked so well that, almost 2 years later they are still like that
  7. Good deal. Another success story. And I was starting to think we would be held responsible for a $400 disaster :-p Too bad you can't paypal beer and cigars.
  8. You basically need a turbo donor car. crossmember, turbo motor (at least everything but the block), exhaust, intake.. all sorts of stuff. Comlete wiring harness as well The search function will yield more specific results.
  9. The first 2 are just the silly little solenoids crapping out. I have 2 good ones I just took off my car. I ditched both the EGR and purge systems. If you want them their yours.
  10. Don't do it patrick.. I'll get you that MAF out in the mail tomorrow. Been busy and forgot. What other codes you throwing? If its driveable, maybe we can set up a time to meet up so I can help you with it. You have too much work into that thing to throw it away.
  11. I think its not fair that you guys get 21 more HP than us :-\
  12. The rear is the easy part. Its pretty much bolt on. The front will require a little more work.
  13. Now with less wheel gap!! Yeah, I know.. not the greatest pics. But hey, it was dark!
  14. I bought a car about 11-12 years ago.. Driving to work one day I was pulled over for a 'routine safety inspection' .. Turns out the plates were from a stolen car. I pulled over on private property that happened to have a nice owner, so the car wasn't impounded.. But I did go to jail until the ******* cop could figure out that the bill of sale and signed title that matched the VIN on the car were legit. In TX you can buy a 30 day temp tag for $25 (much better than the 3 days you get for the same price in WA)
  15. So where exactly was that anyway? My father in law dumped his car somewhere off the side of the road on Berthoud pass a number of years ago.. it was a VW bug.. amazingly he lived.
  16. I have gotten 2 subarus relatively cheap because of the problem with the parking lights not turning off
  17. No harness for these old soobs. Russ.. use the search function boy!! All you need to know is here. I promise http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=5101&highlight=turbo+timer Thats pretty much it right there. Make sure that if you don't use the parking brake wire that you ground it, or the timer won't work properly.
  18. Might try the legcay central board for ratios. Next step is to see what the rear diff rati ois on a WRX:D
  19. Depends. Whats the ratio of the rear end in a 98 legacy?
  20. Yup. Sure will.. Thats the 'classic signs' I was referring to
