  1. You will need, at a minimum: Turbo heads exhaust crossmember wiring harness(most everything from the dash forward) ECU intake manifold with wiring harness and injectors. Random assorted other little things. From there you can actually start working toward some performance. Search for threads from myself, rallyruss or subarutex for ideas of what people are doing for faster EA82s. We have similar things going on, but each of us went about a lot of things a little differently.
  2. Is your car a turbo already? If not, theres a lot more involved than just 'slapping it on'. It won't just bolt up.. mostly because on a nonturbo motor, theres nothing to bolt it on to.. A little more info on the car would be helpful in determining the best way to help you.
  3. If there is a fuel pump relay, it will be under the dash, right above the ECU and steering column. There are 2 realays there. One is ignition and one is for the fuel pump.
  4. Kevin, those injectors look like they would be a pain in the rump roast to fit in.. Especially when there are so many others out there that would be more of a direct fit.. Porsche 928, Nizzan Z car, older eclipse. The trick is finding the ones that have the right flow rate for your needs.
  5. Step one - check Step two - check Step three - you just never know Step four - with enough time and money I went straight from step 1 to step 3 when I did mine.. although the WA to TX trip did involve a little bit of subaru induced fear.lol
  6. Yup.. thats why Saab owners call them 'hooter valves'
  7. All I'm using is the carbed shortblock. theres not much in the way of plumbing on the block itself. I am using turbo heads and all that jazz.. Thats where all the wiring and plumbing is (except the water pump itself, while not necessarily the same, are interchangeable) The differences in the actual block between each type of fuel delivery is minimal. I'm told that the turbo crank has bigger bearings. SPFI and carb do not have the PCV bung behind where the knock sensor goes. Turbo - dished pistons = 7.7:1 SPFI - Domed pistons = 9.5:1 Carb - Flat top pistons = 8.5-9.0:1 (I hear differering information, and none of my service manuals are old enough to have carb info in them) PS - I am moving this to the retrofitting forum. Seems like it would be more at home there.
  8. Got my WRX IC from WJM today. Shipped fast and packed well. Now all I have to do is get the motor back in the car, deal with the throttle cable and plumb the IC.. am hoping to do most of that tonight or tomorrow night
  9. The smoke on turns is a somewhat common problen caused by the PCV.. subaru released a TSB for this in 91 or so. They also released a redesigned pcv setup I hear
  10. N/A heads on Turbo block / pistons? C/R would stay at the 7.7:1 that the turbo comes with . C/R on these motors is determined completely by piston shape.
  11. Its been done by a number of people here (myself included) I did a small writeup when I did mine.. I think. Should be here somewhere Its pretty straightforward. Easier if you have a complete donor car (which I didn't..lol)
  12. When I did my visual comparison, The only differences I found were: 1- the pistons (obvious) 2 - knock sensor 3 - pcv hole in the top of the block - The pistons (higher compression) are what I was after -The knock sensor spot is there on the carb block, its even threaded already, so no problem there -the pcv will be set up differently.. I didn't pull the pistons and put them in the Turbo block for a couple of reasons.. Main one is that I'm lazy
  13. Hopefully I will have some answers for you by this weekend. My Ea82T is utilizing a carb shortblock. Am hoping to have it in the car tonight. Would have the info for you then, but I still have to finish puzzling a few things out with the new turbo.
  14. Provided that neither car is a turbo, the AT front axles will work fine with the manual There should be a tag on the rear diff that tells you the ratio For the manual you want to use, it needs to be a 3.90
  15. w3rd I'd go back to the east side of Tacoma before living in Longview So clayton.. has any of this answered your question? Oh, it might also have something to do with the fact that you may very well be the only person in longview that can operate a computer..lol
  16. My wife has a name for my soob as well.. "That stinky rattly old rump roast piece of **** that you are constantly working on and spending money on"
  17. The EDM cars are 136hp. The ECUs are different from what I am told. They do not use an )2 sensor for one thing. The have a factory EGT.
  18. First, I have never seen a Rex with a VF22 They are however, avaiilable for the WRX and STi;) To use one, you will need to change/modify: uppipe flange downpipe/downpipe flange a little massaging of oil/coolant lines Intake pipe Intercooler pipe (I assume you wouldn;t do such a thing without an IC) Now for the big question.. Why? A VF22 on an EA82T wouldn't even think about beginning to spool until probably somewhere around 4k.. IE, sometime next week.
  19. USDM 85-86 EA82T 111hp 87-90 EA82T 115hp EDM Year ? 136 AUDM - - no idea
  20. Lol.. yeah.. were you to try to stand a volvo IC up in there like that, you wouldn't be able to see out of the windshield. The volvo radiator is larger than ours.. and the IC is even bigger than that.. I always laugh when I hear the volvo guys bitching about their 'wimpy intercoolers'
  21. 155 whp Tex.. your stuff is on its way too you.. The UPS store told me there no such place as Lynnwood, Wa.. I'll bet there are a whole lot of people that will be surprised to hear that..lol
  22. Go up to the top right of the page. Find the log out button. Then go two buttons over to the left Lots of help there. How much $$ do you want to spend? Raised boost? better exhaust engine management? bigger turbo? The list goes on and on. For specifics, use that handy little button I directed you to.
  23. the volvo 7xx intercooler is a beast (I have a 740T and 760T) I have no idea where you would put one in a subaru
