I wouldn't even qualify that as warpage. EA82 specs give a whole .5mm of variance. Can't imagine EA81s are much different. Only way I could see it making any difference at all is with noncompressable headgaskets(copper)
-
nope, no difference

ea81 maximum compression?
calebz replied to LPGsuperchargedBrumby's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Why would you use turbo pistons? they are the lowest compression of all the pistons available -
thought it was time for (pics)

try this kevin http://www.geocities.com/chmwatson/FAQs/mbc.html Oh yeah.. and search n00b;) -
Considering the total cost of these cars, most of us stick with junkyard trannies. The manuals are pretty stout and last a long time. You find a car in a wrecking yrad with under say.. 150k, you're looking usually at a $100-$150 investment. And its a pretty good bet that if it will shift through the gears its a good tranny.. Not to say I have never seen one crap out, but on the 5 speeds it has been few and far between For reference, my FT4WD 5 speed has 195k on it and its still in pretty good shape. If I were to treat it to some redline, I'm betting it would be in great shape
-
Not quite. 3AT and N/A 5 speed = 23 spline 4EAT(turbo) and turbo 5 speed = 25 spline Rear diff = every auto I have seen has been 3.70, but have heard there are some (N/A) that are 3.90 All turbo = 3.70 All EA82 LSD = 3.70 ER27 LSD = 3.90 N/A manual = 3.90

flywheel lightening at home
calebz replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Its been successfully done by a number of people. Wow this is an old thread. -
open center diff.. It sends all the power to wherever there is the least traction.. which if you have no front axles, would be the front.

How much power can EA82T stand?
calebz replied to Tee Koo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Depends on who you ask and how much money you have. -
You must have been reading my mind. G_Tech pro may not be as good as a dyno, but for under $50 for a ballpark estimate is a good thing. I will be ordering mine in a few weeks.(After full xmas recovery..lol)

IIRC, his ER27 is very custom, N/A, and very $$

Should I just give up on air suspension?

Thinking about another Sube, help me decide.
calebz replied to All_talk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Eh? the RS was a Loyale in the early 90s Most were spfi.. a few were turbo. Not terribly rare. Definitely not fast.. . nothing really special about them. Simply a bad shadow of the RX Gary already has. -
I just went and measured the exhaust port on a carb'd head. Came out at 1-7/8. I think its safe to assume that the turbo ports are the same size. That said, for my personal use, I would prefer a smaller header. Exhaust velocity is terribly important in these motors and IMO, 1-7/8 piping is a little too big. But then again, I don't care too much about top speed. I am more interested in how fast it can get there.

ECUtune ECU Reflash for EA82T
calebz replied to Myxalplyx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
But if this guy is in florida its just going to be a tune by mail thing anyway isn't it? Most of our motors are a bit different. Differences in turbos, compression.. things like that are going to make for different maps.. How is that going to be addressed. Don't get me wrong, I think its a good idea (to a certain extent) and if the right answers can be provided, I would probably be willing to throw down for it. I am skeptical of the sweeping generalizations made though. Also, it would be kind of a waste if I couldn't take it to my local tuner for dyno tuning after further mods. One other question. Would this be the purchase of a reflashed ECU, or simply the EPROM which would then need to be installed on the PCB?(in case you didn't know, subaru in their infinite wisdom didn't put the PROM in a socket... its soldered straight to the board) -
Silly question... for the tie rod.. its just the XT6 outer tie rod end right? PS.. Tex, aren't you supposed to be working?

dumb questions - Loyale 4wd....DR?
calebz replied to pmichaud's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
89 was the last year for the D/R in the US. Loyale started in 90 -
They are pretty common in your area. I have yet to pay more than $200 for one.. And most of mine have come from somewhere between bremerton and olympia ... Hell.. I have found more than one for free . With the troubles you have described, its probably not worth more than $500 or so.. And being a cheapskate, I probably wouldn't pay more than $250

What's a good vaccum level for ea82t?
calebz replied to Vanislru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Most people don't understand that a boost gauge shows boost(positive manifold pressure) in terms of PSI and measures vacuum in inches of mercury. -
At least with an elk you can cut him up into steaks... I always get funny looks whe I do that to the people that hit my car
